  3. Ummm....I have a wonderful fellowship here...besides, where in my post did I say "anti", "them" or "us"? Anyone? anyone? anyone? Bhueller? Remember thou shalt not bare false witness...... If you read my post correctly you can see my main issue as you call it is those who come here to attack my faith and put that faith down and call it wrong. As far as I am concerned anyone who comes here to tell me that what I believe is wrong, that my faith is unfounded and I will burn in hell have no right and are in violation of community standards....and I am talking specifically about non-LDS and anti-LDS (because who else would it be?) A member of the LDS church wouldn't so it would have to be an anti-LDS which is also a non-LDS and when I compose a post that specifically talks about "those" people or "them" I think all others here know whom I am talking about.....please understand, I have nothing against you or what you believe...you are welcome to it....I'm not going to put it down or tell you you are wrong because it's right for you...However if an another attacks my faith then I will label them as anti-LDS and treat them accordingly. This board is not for trying to convert Mormons....it is not to be used as a place to ridicule anothers faith and if it be a persons reason for coming here I will defend my faith and have them kicked off.

  5. Sharyll....stick to your guns...it's not about him, it's about you searching for the truth...keep your appointment with the missionaries...learn what you can so when your husband comes home you'll be able to answer his questions and just remind him you have all the right in this world to believe it what you want...whether it be LDS, EV, Buddha or Ala. But all else remember to love him, be calm with him and he will be calm with you. Your marriage vows didn't include you have to do as he says or he pleases or believe what he believes or vice versa. Judging from his responses to the church he is very missinformed...keep the faith, pray for him and yourself to know the truth and for the Lord to soften his heart.....all things are possible with God...it will work out....
  6. LOL...I'll answer your question with a question....why would an armed intruder break into my home? Actually, I am not afraid that would happen because the chances of that happening are so minute that I feel I would still not need a weapon like a gun. Besides, if I heard a noise I would have to take the time to get the gun off the top shelf of my closet, unlock the trigger lock (after finding the key) and then go to the desk drawer and load the gun....so I figure by that time I, myself and family are already dead.....or do you think keeping a loaded weapon around the house is a good idea when you have kids? Hmmmm.....I could see it now, a noise wakes me.....I grab my loaded gun, still half asleep quietly walk downstairs and there coming in the back door I see him, I aim and shoot...once, twice, three times....the intruder goes down....I take a breath and turn on the lights to see I have just killed my daughter who was just letting her dog out to pee. OR perhaps I do confront an intruder who has a gun....and he kills me first. NOPE, a really good loud alarm with do much better than a loaded gun....see my point? To answer your question....to know that the intruder was armed I would have to see him, in other words by that time it's too late...besides if I knew there was someone breaking into my home, the first thing I'd do was call 911...the second was to yell at the top of my lungs "I KNOW YOU'RE THERE, MY SHOTGUN IS LOADED AND I'M COMING TO BLOW YOUR HEAD OFF"....You think they'll stick around gun or not?
  7. Wow Jason.....I don't know about you but I've been paying into the Social Security program for 30 years and when I retire I'll get it all back....and yes I won't complain anymore about footing the bill for Welfare because I won't be paying it after I retire! PS: Did you get your check this month?

  10. Absolutely....if the Prophet were to tell us that God wanted us to stop eating apples we would....it's a test of faith regardless what we feel or know about apples.
  11. Okay...I'm going to put in my two cents regarding this topic.....first of all, I do not own any guns, that is my choice, I have no reason to own one, I don't hunt and I can defend myself and my family without having to use a gun. I don't like guns, they don't scare me, I'm not frightened of them....it's the tiny percentages of nut cases who own them that scare me. That said....I have no problem with anyone else in this country owning a gun...as long as they are legally and emotionally responsible to do so. I believe in gun control to keep these weapons out of the hands of undesirables. What I am most fearful of in the country is the drug problem. I remember before 1970 you could leave your hose to go shopping and leave the front door open with the screen door closed to cool your house and you had no fear, you had no problem letting your kids walk to school by themselves and letting them stay outside after dark with the other neighborhood children was no problem also. No, it's not gun control we have to worry about, it's drugs. Satan has taken hold of the world and has made it unsafe for everyone. That's why as LDS we focus on our families, we make our homes a refuge from the world, a sanctuary where love abounds....where there is no fear, just love. The fight against crime begins at home...teach our children to choose what is right and they will not pick up a gun or knife or crack pipe.

  14. When I initially found this site I thought "Cool, a place to come and discuss my faith, church doctrine and the like with other LDS". But this hasn't been the case....it seems like most everyday someone of another faith comes here to put in their two cents and basically tell me what I hold dear to my heart, my faith, my church is wrong. So, I feel I have to defend myself and my beliefs....I really have no problem doing that but it seems so redundant as no one can really prove faith, that's why it's called faith. Here's a true story: Not long ago a missionary once told me of a man (who lives in a coastal town in Oregon) who was searching for a church to join and he did years of research. This man had read every single piece of literature about the church he could find both for and against, he had read the standard works over three times, he read the Comprehensive History of the Church by BH Roberts, and even the entire 9 volumes Work and the Glory, every church pamphlet, every church book, saw every church video, etc. (I must add that this is a very learned man, he has several degrees)...but yet he hadn't ever been to church, hadn't ever prayed to ask for the truth....he was seeking it in books....he was looking for proof. Although he said that the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints was the only one that came close he still wanted that proof. Until that man gets on his knees in humble prayer he will never know the truth....ever. To those posters who have the agenda of trying to tell us we are wrong, that our faith is wrong.....please understand that most LDS have had their spirits touched by the Holy Ghost and the truth was made known, clear and precise. And to us, to deny that truth would be to deny God. Okay....here's a couple of questions for all posters: My question is how did you find what you believe to be the truth....regardless if you are LDS or not ? Do you believe you can defend your faith and how far will you go to do so?
  15. That would make me 92 years old and welcoming Christ from my zimmer frame Well, that would make me 95 and damn ready to go by then!

  17. Hi Randi...congratulations! Maybe I can help answer your question....I was a radio DJ for 20 years and had a mobile DJ side business for that time and I did a lot of "Mormon" wedding receptions at Stake centers and in ward meetinghouse gyms. If you are having a ring exchange ceremony for non member family and friends you should do it right before the reception at the reception hall (I'm assuming it's your ward gym). The best way to do a ring ceremony is to just do the whole non-Mormon shebang, even though you will already be legally married and sealed....I know it sounds weird, but you can have your Bishop "Marry" you and you could write the vows, that's the best part...writing your own vows. My wife and I did it this exact way and in the vows we promised to love each other for forever (death had no mention) so it still had and eternal ring to it.....make it short and sweet add whatever music you want. The church only has a few guidelines for your reception you need to follow and they are pretty simple....no smoking in the building, no alcohol or coffee/tea....and they ask that the music be appropriate...in other words clean songs with no foul language or situations. Talk to your Bishop, he can help you. If you'd like a suggestion or help in writing vows let me know in PM and I'll send you a copy of mine and you can feel free to add or subtract what you want. Other than that, have fun and enjoy!

  23. Hi everyone....I certianly enjoyed this General Conference....my question is....did any of you get the theme of this conference? In the past other themes have been "pornography/chastity" "faith" etc.. I took this Conference theme as set up for new converts like this months Ensign. Every talk was a basic simple truth of church doctrine....I for one found it refreshing, like renewing my faith or covenants....it was nice to have such a great reminder from church leaders. Your thoughts?
