I apologize for not taking the time to read all three pages of responses before posting my own, just alot of info to take in and not alot of online time currently. I kind of started off like you, both curious and unsure how to go about learning about the LDS Faith. Ironically and thankfully for me someone submitted my info to a pair of online missionaries just shortly after I ended up at the Portland Temple one day. I found this website as well and there is a wealth of information on here. If you are uneasy about meeting face to face I would recommend you search here and also utilize the online missionaries. I met with the local's for my area once, but life has been "wake up, go go go, sleep, and repeat" for me so beyond texts its hard to maintain contact with them. Welcome by the way.

To me it sounds as though you are indeed simply a Mormon who has been presented with a challenge that can be overcome with prayer and guidance.

Younger people don't have the sense of financial responsibility that many older generations have. I did well for awhile, but eventually my job working in semiconductors laid me off nd that's when I fell behind. Been a tough road, but I'm slowly paying things off. Obviously not as quickly as I'd like though.

18 would be to young by my standards, even though you are legally an adult I was raised that 18 and 21 is alright, but anything older is to old. My parents were a different generation though. My girlfriend just turned 21 and I turn 24 in April. If he is morally and ethically sound though I don't see anything wrong with it.

None because Vancouver doesn't get snow very often.

Thankfully for me I never enjoyed coffee, I have tried it a few times throughout my years and each time it tastes just as bad as before. Although the aroma can be somewhat enticing... Prayer as others have said to reduce and remove you cravings for such would be obviously a wise course to take. Perhaps a simple discussion is in order as well to help ease your suffering? Your husband could help by not making any of those around you.

Welcome to the forum! I am a non-member who was one of those kids spoon fed lies when I was younger by people who did not understand the church. However after a month of extensive reading of scriptures and studying I have come to better understand the church and found I actually agree with its views. I never hated on anyone involved in the church, but I always did my best to avoid conversations until now. You will find a wealth of information on this forum and everyone here has been very helpful for my learning experience.

Doubts can be like weeds in a beautiful garden, if you don't pick them all at the roots they will just continue to come back, spread and eventually kill all the beauty. Just as apple said, I would recommend you read scriptures as well as Fast and Pray. I fasted for the first time yesterday, and it was a very positive and enlightening experience.

Jeep proudly stands for Just Empty Every Pocket, my 5.9L can have its moments but Ilve it anyways. Even if i get only 12mpg... :) -
Family is the most important aspect of life to me, but I am a father and somewhat more enlightened so my opinion is a little biased. I'd say go with, staying together would provide a great deal of support for both. Long distance is never fun, been there and never again.

For my first time fasting, I'd have to say that it was a very positive and enlightening experience in its entirety. And an unexpected act of kindness happened during as well. At my complex we have a community key that is $100 to replace, my old car got broken into and the key stolen from it. We intend to move out this year and that would have been money out of our deposit. Thanks to the kindness from the lady in the office we got a free new key and we should expect a full refund after we move somewhere else.

I preferred Zealot rushing.

Malware that hijacks your computer, prevents certain actions such as accessing the Internet while looking like authentic software has been on the rise lately. My desktop has the issue, can't access the Internet. Demands I pay Microsoft money so the virus is removed. It's a scam, and I have to edit my registries and make a big hassle to just remove the malware. Super annoying but I have my laptop. :)

I'd have to say that so far this has been a very positive experience mentally and spiritually. Thanks Pam for posting the link, I enjoyed reading that. Seems I don't utilize the website lik I should since a majority of the time links get sent its to there. How often do you all fast? Im collecting atleast once a month?

I am experiencing tough financial times and am in need to transistion back into the semiconductor field again rather than working in food. A set schedule would be appealing, and important to make attending a Sunday service easier as well.

So, I have been convinced to try fasting tomorrow. Wanted to hear your experiences with this. I know it's a spiritual thing and is supposed to bring you closer to God, are there any other important aspects of fasting I am not aware of? I was told to pray tonight, pray several times during the day and when I finally do eat dinner to say prayer then as well. I don't eat much in my normal daily life, often I skip dinner and half of the time do not even eat lunch but I always eat a decent sized dinner. Stress often contributes to my ability to miss meals and not be bothered, I am sure others have felt the same on this. But yea.. Input is welcome! The missionary said she will be fasting with me (even though she is in Utah), and praying for me as well.

I used to do that on Jeep forums, except it was usually old arguments about who had a nicer Jeep and what not. Oh the fireworks. -
Ee on the excom part especially, I work with an older lady. She was part of the church, worked in the temple and all. Ended up being excommunicated and despite that she says she still is LDS at heart. I told her if so, she should make amends and attempt to rejoin, but at her age she is hesitant.

Can't quite say I went into this looking to convert though.

Well it's official, she forwarded me and her notes on me to local missionaries. Just got a call and voicemail a couple hours ago. She said she feels I am "ready". She made a bold move that I wasn't expecting. Guess it won't hurt to call back tomorrow.

That wasn't to long ago.

The fact you are able to cut down to once every two weeks shows a great deal of strength, resolve and progress. We all have our moments when we give in to some temptation or another, nobody is perfect. You had a simple lapse, but as time goes on and you pray more you will grow stronger every time do that when the desire to do so arises once again, you will be able to essentially handle it better than before. And although I've never met a Bishop, I'd recommend you do so if that is the suggestion of others. You'll pull through :) God loves you regardless of what challeneges you face. One of the lessons I drew from 1 Nephi was that your always blessed in this life.

I told her if she does convince me to be, I'll send her pictures lol. She has taught me a lot in 20 days of talking, so I can see why she is eager to get me moving forward even though I wasn't looking to convert when I started this.
