see but thats my point if your son had to stop guys from beating up a mexican chances are its because he looked mexican meaning he was darker skin. those who are latino and look white dont really have to deal with that cause they are never targeted like the ones who are darker are, even those who are white latinos consider themselfs more white then latino

Although i would like to say that Finnan is completely wrong on that subject i cant do so since there is some truth in it. As a hispanic latino myself where my mother is from spain and my father is mezo or native indian, this is true. In social classes white are always seen as better and i think its frankly sick that so many people who are white try and be white when background wise they arent white, just look it. I mean to say that racism and prejudice does not exist inside the church is to be in denial but that does not excuse refusing to date someone just because of fear that mockery might arise. Im just reminded of what MArtin luther KIng jr said " THe judge of a persons character is not what he does in times of contravery but what he does in times of calm" If we were all afraid of doing something because of fear of what others thought then we are no better then the ones who are doing the mocking. frankly it makes me sick still to know that society still makes out the fact that if your not white, and clear skinned then somehow you arent beautiful that someone being white means your more beautiful. NOw i had to put up with alot of **** over the years but i have also gotten into a lot of fights when someone has said something prejudice or ignorant to either me or the people i know. but if you do nothing about it or in contributing to change the problem then u are part of the problem

if you ask me global warming is a lot like when a parent has a sick child. you can take that child to go see 50 doctors and if all but say 10 of them say its not a big deal and there is nothing wrong with him, i dont know about you but i would listen to the other 40 doctors who say there is a problem. There is not sense in arguing the idea that we have polluted our plant leaving global warming out of it. so we can either stand by and watch it get a heck of a lot worse or we can do something about it.

USA has always had a big issue with race and its never gonna go away. Hard to believe that even now martin luther king must be turning in his grave to see what little progress we have made, that there are still people who judge others by the contexts of their skin and not the contexts of their character. as for the report i dont think that diversity is a miss trust and holds any negative effects to a sociaty, i believe those actions start from the home and develop latter on in life.

actually its in the constatution in which all men are created equal and there should be no prejudice based on race color, or religion. its also a little of marti luther king of I have a dream speach and also a little of God in which he stated that this was a choice land in which it would be blessed and that all that come to the americans came with the guidance of heavenly father. To live and see eachother as equals is to become a melting pot so to speak

isnt that what prejudice is though i mean not dating someone because of the color of there skin? i mean if you had a guy who happened to be a black man but was kind and consideret towards you, and another who was white yet not so kind and considerate towards you, i find it hard to believe you would choose the latter just because it would be easier for you and your kids to hang around white people. I mean i think thats what white people dont get is that, that in itself is prejudice, maybe not to the extant of the KKK but it a more subtle type of prejudice. doesnt anyone else see that? as for the finnan comment i mean the whole reason for the idiology of north america and the americans in gerneral is that it is a big melting pot where all cultures and colored people are suppose to live as one in harmony with each other. culture will always be there since no one gives up there culture or there ethinicity so i think that argunment is week. move to another country and you will always have culture there no matter what.

we're talking about the paragraph in 2Nephi 5:21.although no one has answered my question i mean the general authorities say a lot of things that members of the church dont always fallow or think. My question i will refrase again is if anyone has witnessed anyone think they are somehow favored because of the color of there skin being white? ex. only dating white guys. or having someone say a slight comment that doesnt seem overly prejudice but slightly is. I mean has anyone read about the Book...being Black and mormon, about a BYU professor who had to endure comment from other members who constantly reminded him how he was somehow cursed based on the color of his skin. Not to mention that BYU im not sure if this is true but my understanding is they still teach this in there seminar classes. So i fail to see how there are not members out there who would have slight prejudice favor towards themselves being of a white desend. Just thoughts since i have no doubt there are some members who think like this

well just read a topic on racism about the whole rosie and jackson thing and it brought up some thinking which i would actually like some opinions on. I was discussion this with a pal after he saw me reading that thread and it brought up the BOM claim in about the change of skin color mentioned in the BOM. Now he isnt mormon and brought up two points. 1) why does the church still have that little paragraph in there since it doesnt seem to make any differance anymore unless your micheal jackson. 2) he asked me if I knew any white people who felt that they were a little better then colored people in any way within the church. Now he didnt mean racist or prejudice at all but wondered if people who were white thought they were more ritious and more pure so to speak then others due to that paragraph in the book. and this really got me thinking since I myself have not experience this in the church except in maybe timid ways which i have caught every now and then. So i would like people who are members or non members to place there two cents on this since im curious if anyone has seen this or witnessed it

I think the real danger lies in that someone worse who is more ruthless will come to power because of this. I mean lets not forget what happened in germany after the first world war, it was because of the chaos and destroyed germany that hitlar came to power. Plus one cant really say that the USA has not had an influence on whats goin with the trial and with the leaders of iraq right now. I mean was it not the USA who supplied weapons to Iraq during the IRaqi and IRan war durign the reagon administration in the 80's? (if someone knows this for sure then please comment because im not to familiar with that since i wasnt even 5 when that occured)In any case i really think we should consintrate more or IRan since that seems to be where the psycho path leader is. and if the USA pulls out before there seems to be an Iraq that can defend itself u can be sure that Iran will swoop in and we will have a bigger problem on our hands. well i should make it clear im not defending the man in any way, i just dont see why it had to be televised at all. plus you cant really say this has nothing to do with the USA cause it totally has a lot to do with the USA i mean we're right in the middle of it. i think its totally disgusting what the man did but i still think the death penalty was a easy way out.

well i just saw the video of the hanging and i have to say it kinda makes me sick of the fact that they would televise this type of thing in public. I mean what kinda of society are we turning into, are we becoming like other countries in which we will start allowing public killings to fuel the hatred and disgust that seems to be happening all over the world already. Jason, I totally disagree that Americans will be left behind if they don't learn Spanish. The more educated Latinos are all about learning English, as they know that is the official language. The ones that refuse to learn are the illegals who probably won't be much of a threat to anyone. The language I would rather my child learn is Chinese, if I don't want him to be left behind. well that in itself is a pretty ignorant way of looking at things...since it seems u are already judging a whole culture based on your prejudice and lack of views. IF it looks like a duck walk like a duck chances are its a duck. The reality is that most people who are white have a serious problem that all of a sudden they are no longer going to be the majority on this country and since the USA has for so long been a largely white populated country it seems everyone is freaking out because they are no longer going to be the majoriyt but the minority and ohh let hell brake lose if that were to happen if for once you would put yourself in the shoes of the other majorities in this country.

OKay i swore to myself i would not return to this forum but gosh darn it one boring night and a little sneak peek at this subject got my blood boiling. first of all I am completely insulted by the fact that YOU brother Darsy are calling legal citizens ALIENS which they are not they are citizens that just points out your ignorance as a human being who thinks that you have to be born in the country to become a full blooded citizen. NOw i have always seen americans to be kinda ignorant towards the idea of integrating culture with in the country, keep in mind i living in california. now as a kid who grew up in canada we have never seen the problem of incorporating different languages or culture together not so much in that we had to or were thinking of making english a primary language. Now i seriously think that the foundation of the USA somewhere got lost and it is no longer the same country that stands for truth justice and all people equal under God. IT is the very perspective of most americans as far as culture and diversity goes that is the very reason why the country is thriving so much on prejudice and racism. I mean for crying out load Boston university is offering scholorships to one white people...and arabs who get on plans are atomatically labeled tourists cause the color of there skin. Mexicans who are legal in the country and born here are being called illegals and being shout at to go back to where they came from. I mean this is rediculous, I agree that something should be done to patrol the border of both canada and mexico but for crying out loud to all the ignorant bastards out there who are prejudice and believe they hold a high standing over another person get a friggin life. I cant tell you how many fist fights i wanted to get into when someone bashed a racial slur at me so to those thinking about any negative tone towards your neighbor i say take that though and shuff it up your *&*&*&*.

I thought Mitt Romney was a christian. B) okay ya you got me there but, i dont think those certain events of evangelical problems will affect the whole view point of devoted evangelicals. I still very sure that if he would run against hillary that hillary would win by a huge margin.

although apparantly most mormons think he is the best for the job because of his religion i dont think that he will win the 2008 election and i really dont think a mormon should take the office of white house yet. THere are a lot of evangelicals in the USA more so then there are anyother religion and chances are they would rather vote for a catholic or christian then they would a mormon.

just wondering how many of you are experiencing the morning after candy dosage we all recieved last night since it seemed to be the night of sweets. I know personally that i went to a party last night and ended up bringing home a lot of chocolate bars and peanut butter cups that i ended up regretting the next morning since i kinda ended up with a tummy ache. Oh now don't get me started on the issue of abortion! Put it this way....if the men and women of this Earth were to live up to the standards that God has set forth then there would be no need for abortion. Abortion should NOT be used as a contraceptive.....Abortion should be illegal....outlawed on every continent......the women should be forced to carry the babies to full term, the fathers and mothers of the babies should be made responsible to pay for the medical bills....and the child should be taken from them and given to a couple who would raise the child right.....that's my two cents on that subject, you can hate me if you want!......let the nasty replies begin!!!!!! NOw im sorry but that has to be the most stupid and ignorant thing i have ever heard in my life member of the church or not. Should a mother be forced to deliver if her life is in danger or should she be forced to have the child because she was raped, and go through numerous years of depression and trama. I really think you have a right to say what a woman should or shouldnt do since you yourself have no idea what its like to bare a child due to some tragic event. Even the prophet has no endorsed the illegalization of abortion because he knows that there are situations that one can not expect to give birth. it would be nice if all these things do not happen but that is wishful thinking and simply just a non reality talk

Well all we have in our family are fishes, we used to have a turtle which we got when i was about 12,but it died...we also had to perakeets one male and one female, but they died after the female got pregnant which she left this world during birth. my hope is when i move out to get a nice golden retriever

Now i think cloning is a whole different matter...I mean just because nature does it naturally, when does the line cross in which we try to be God and duplicate ever single aspect of human creation in a test tube. Which comes to the next question is cloning really ethical?

The way i see it, that perticular phrase has more to do with the celestial laws and order of not only God but also of the priesthood and the responsibilities that come along with it. For example The lord would never contradict himself or change the order in which the gospel must be preached and distributed. It also has to do with the consept that The lord jesus christ was the same entaty or the same spirit during the beginning and will be during the end. It is a way of knowing that it was Jesus Christ who created the earth, it was he who suffered and died for our sins and it was he who was resurected and was glorified. Now if your going to argue that he wasnt the same due to the fact that he experienced mortality and died, that was a stage that he needed to do, not for himself but because 1) It was the fathers plan and Jesus was doing the very thing that was commanded to him by the father and 2) because with out jesus christ comming to the earth there would have been no atonement in which none of us would be able to return to the father because we would be forever doomed under the penalty of sin. I phrase the same yesterday today and forever is to know that Jesus christ will never lead or change his word or thinking on matters, it to know that he is Our saviour and he will never change so that confustion does not overtake us and we would be lost and confused about the gospel. I hope i explained it well i was going to use scriptures but i left mine downstairs.
