I think that South Park episode was actually very kind to Mormons, in a way, while it mocked how the religion was created, it did show the people as purely happy (the other characters wanting to be Mormon to try and capture just a bit of the joy the Mormons had because they were so miserable), and as one of them said, that regardless to if the book was true or not, it had given them a great life and a wonderful family. I don't think you need to apologize, I was far more uncouth to religion in general, not just the LDS church (mind you, the LDS church avoided my scornful words because at the time, I didn't know Mormons and LDS' were the same thing) and all I knew about Mormons was they came to my door- but so did Jehovah's Witnesses and I couldn't tell them apart. I know a lot more now, but haven't become a member for... a few small reasons... mind you I don't understand the Super Best Friends episode (with the various profits and such as superhero-sorts, parodying the Super Friends show)

I love movies, I have a very extensive collection of, mostly garbage and z grade ninja movies. What's your favourite(s)? For me? Well that's a tricky choice (a lot of movies I do like aren't appropriate for this site or are just utterly terrible) So I'll pick 2001, A Space Odyssey, with Castle in the Sky and My Little Pony the Movie close behind. What are some of your favourites?

like many questions, it just leads into more questions

good luck to you, I admire those who go on missions, I could never do that

I feel I just don't have enough crazy junk and mad dreams that have come true I'd have a job for something to do (part time) but wouldn't take it seriously... But what sets me apart from all of you is, well you all seem to have families and I don't (after I buy homes for my 1 sibling and parents and give them some money- the rest will be at my full mad whim) I'd make a lot smarter choices with 1 million then 30 lol

thread never specified how you won (though I did make a Q joke earlier)

when I was a little boy I wanted to rule the world, have my face carved into rock and other nutty stuff I aimed high:lol:
-
my house would be the biggest taker of my money, I'd design it after, well I won't go into the movie-needless to say it would be a palace. And would be burned to the ground upon my death

WILSON!!!!!!! WHY HAVEN'T YOU CLEANED UP THE HUSKS WILSON!?!?!?!?!!!!!! WILSON!!! you know I saw at a flea market someone had made these neat plaques with bible verses on them, but they weren't very detailed, I should make one, but paint it, all the words and little flowers, with a saying or verse on it (while the subject is here) though with the poem I like, it'd be more picture sized and probably best on paper vs wood

Q from Star Trek (or Discord from My Little Pony- same thing) appears and snaps his fingers. You are winner !

I don't have any debt, being only 24 (nor did I go to collage) so I assume I would simply go crazy, since I would have no direction and the strangeness would come out fill force...

US... or Canadian if its doing better:lol: No taxes, (yeah I know the US taxes lottery winnings but we don't here so we'll go by Canada's rules) What would you do with it? Where might you live or spend time away from home? Some fun little things you might buy, etc...

now that I know what they look like, I never see them... ironic

this one's better

just because something isn't as successful doesn't mean the church doesn't understand the changing times. Its hard to change with the times, especially since how quick our times change now. How information is shared and how easily people can get it (both positive and negative)

My old Scoutleader would have gone Gordon Ramsay on us if we left a camp in such a state in Bear Country (he would in squirrel country, because its bad habits to have, and here in Canada, you really don't know what's lurking in the woods)

I won't boycott an author for their opinions, JRR Tolkien had opinions I don't agree with. I don't even really see myself on the Conservative or Liberal side, there are things I am Conservative about and there are things I am Liberal about (And on that note there are things I agree with the NDP -Canada's Socialist Party- about) I am not a cookie cutter human being, and cannot simply fit into a "lump all beliefs into one side"
-
I still think they are doing a better job then other churches
-
the uninformed would not know the difference, heck when I was younger I didn't know LDS and Mormons were the same people, though with my knowledge, I now know only 1 pair of LDS Missionaries came to my door, at the time I just assumed they were some sort of Jehovah's Witnesses
-
yeah if they went in more normal clothes, methinks people would simply mistake them for Jehovah's Witnesses (to my knowledge, they don't have a dress code)
-
I have to complement the LDS church for trying to modernize itself, I don't see that in a lot of other faiths, and that's a shame as a lot of them risk alienating an upcoming generation the world is smaller and information is at the touch of one's fingertips. And if you don't take advantage of that, you risk becoming outdated

though to be fair, I scream at coconuts anyways...I don't need to be lost on an island to go crazy

yes thank you, I'd want something positive as I scream about coconuts and cry to a volleyball

What is a LDS Temple like?
Lakumi replied to Lakumi's topic in Learn about The Church of Jesus Christ Of Latter-day Saints
I always found them fascinating, even when I was growing up as an atheist and I just looked at them as buildings. Where as the old churches of Europe are like Castles, LDS Temples are uniquely their own and no question to what they belong to. Very unique and beautiful. Thank you for the links btw
