Imho the fact that the Book of Mormon is a Direct translation of ancient writings gives it high marks for accuracy. The bible while true as far as it is translated corectly, can be a stumbling block for some as it was assembled from selected historical writings by men chosen by Constantine of Rome in about 325 AD, to help establish the new state religion, Christianity.

I believe we are seeing fulfillment from Book of Mormon in the American Indian activities. We must remember the american indians include more than the native americans we have in the USA but all of north central and south america.

The old testiment historical accounts of what you call immoral acts by the accountees need to be considered in perspective. The accounts of God's command of the Hebrews who entered the promised land to slay ALL the inhabitants was given for purposes known to God. Those purposes when not followed, later proved to lead to their downfall and bondage. I also think that when we say people are killed, we need to remember that he distruction of all flesh at the time of the Flood and the distruction of Soddom and Gomorah were a result of Gods wrath on the inhabitants for their immorality and evil lifestyle. There are paralells with the world today if we continue with the trends we see around us.

I think that trials are the way we are refined and prepared for the work of the eternities. The short span of this earth life seems long when viewed from a mortal vantage but is only a blink of an eye when we consider the eternal perspective. I look at this life as a school to prepare us for a greater work. It is very important that we pass the lessons of life in order to graduate to the greater work God has in store for us his children.

Rather than quote references to David Stewart interpretations, his web site www.72languages.com, has very interesting information on languages including the Adamic language which appears to be the writing on the Burroughs Cave artifacts. His interpretations indicate that The origionators were the Jerodite people who came to this continant from the Tower of Babble.

Not that I have seen on his page. He is a retired professional languages interpreter who is now concentrating on lds related artifacts full time

Thanks for letting me back in. I have been following Dr David Stewart on translations of artifacts found in an archiological site known as Burroughs Cave. Has anyone else seen anything on it.

I wish to again apologize to this forum for my unfriendly and unjustified comments on this forum. I am here to learn from others and share as I have understanding of Gospel related topics. I would like to participate as a novice and not an advanced scholar. I certainly do not have the intellectual prowess to match the great minds I observe by other learned posters. Again my apologies. thank you checker boy. I have thick skin but not the gift of writing. I too know by a confirmation of the spirit that these things are true. I think the artillary shells are intended to make us run for cover. I prefer not to attack individuals but to develop an open dialogue with reasonable individuals. The subject started with a statement from a Prophet of God. But of course the friends of the adversary have, do, and always will attack anything resembling truth in order to lead away the faithful sincere seeker for the truth.

The higher law and order of God is to be sealed for all eternity in order to be receive the highest rewards He has for his obedient Children. Those who cannot abide that law will not receive of His fullness but a lesser reward.

spelling is not my forte lol. qumron discoveries confirm doctrine was taught prior during and after christ which is contrary to contemporary christian teachings. Joseph Smith restored that which was taught before without having the discoveries. The discoveries confirm Joseph Smith received his knowledge by Revelation from God as a true prophet would.

This makes us realize that eternal covenants are essential for the our exaultation.

Jason your post does not justify a response because you still obviously are not seriously considering anything I am posting. Cumron discoveries include the thousands of scrolls known as the Dead Sea Scrolls. Much of which has been translated.

(I would caution you, gently, that the Bible is part of the LDS canon of Scripture.) Yes Most definately it is and will be as far as it is translated correctly. This constantine book is just that but it is all we have because the constantine church went about distroying anything and everything that was contrary to the doctrine they wrongly proclaimed. Many truths are still contained in the bible but without other corroborating evicences they mislead many into erroneous belief and limited faith. The apostasy from the church Christ established has led to the darkness and confusion through the ages. The restoration of the true Gospel was necessary to Help prepare the sincere seeker of truth for the return of the Messiah. Additional and continuing revelation is essential to help guide us through these perialous times. (Amos 3 :7) Surely the Lord will do nothing except he reveal his secret unto his servents the prophets. The continuing battle for truth is always an uphill climb. The adversary and his helpers will always appose truth and try to lead away the sincere seeker and defender of truth. I submit that the lds beliefs are usually on the defensive side. I suggest that the apposers cannot and will not have sufficient difinitive proof that Joseph Smith was not a Prophet. I say again that the old sticks are worn out but they still try to use fables, rumors, and old untruths that Joseph Smith time and time again successfull defended before his death and has still not been proven but still peruetuated after his death to this day. The challenge is for the sinceere seeker of truth will find it through study, prayer and inspiration of the Holy Ghost. Which is the only way to Know the truth of all things.

It is very interesting that the lds doctrine and belief which is posted on this forum is critiqued and put down by forum members who seem to be waiting for opportunities to shoot the rabbit. I for one think that the dissection by prisonchaplin and others of pro lds posts is an adversaral campaign to dissuade members and others from their belief and faith in Joseph Smith as a true Prophet of God and the doctrines of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints. I believe free agency also will bring just rewards for our individual choices and actions. I welcome opposition to my views and beliefs and have no problem defending them with reasonable discussion. I have started another post with the questions I raised in the gospel questions thread.

What evidences do we have and what discoveries have been made to show that Joseph Smith was a true prophet and that the Chruch of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints has the full gospel upon the earth today as taught by Jesus Christ?

If I have posted issues that do not meet the objectives of this website I sincerely Apologize. I believe Heather or moderators would and will correct me if I am wrong on these issues. I stand by my previous points and suggest that we move into discussing the evidences I mentioned. The reason Christ was crusified was that He taught doctrine contrary to the accepted belief of the time. The reason Joseph Smith was killed was because He taught doctrine contrary to the accepted belief of the time. Joseph Smith has been and will be villified in his teachings by the new evicences from around the world which he could not have known because they were not discovered yet. The restitution of all things was not critiqued. I do not get angry with apposing positions. I do get sad when I see a religion based on belief and faith only. You are right we will see each other in heaven on Judgement day. I know in Gods house are many mansions and those who have no belief and live and act accordingly will be justly rewarded in the Telestial kingdom, those who believe faith only is required and try to live by their limited understanding are a better than those with no belief will receive the Terrestrial Kingdom. I do know that Knowledge of the steps to salvation including the saving ordinances outlined in the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints are necessary to receive all that God has promised and rewarded the Highest degree of the Celestial Kingdom. While these doctrines do not meet the criteria of general christian belief on how one is "Saved", they are criticised as not doctrinal based on the bible. This shows that the Constantine book called the Bible was edited to change the doctrine taught by Christ and every previous age age back to Adam. Additional scripture from Joseph Smith the prophet and more recent discoveries of scrolls and plates and codises let us understand this concept.

I am a newcomer to this website. I appreciate the oppertunity to discuss gospel questions in an open forum. With all due respect to our non-lds friends, and I do mean friends, on this forum. I see this thread becomming a theological baseball game with no winners. Debate, conjecture and opinion are not grounds for a mutual understanding. God's house is not a house of confusion. I believe and the bylaws of this website is based on lds gospel. With that in mind, the basic premis for discussion is this: first Was Joseph Smith a Prophet of God. Second Was the truth restored to the earth by God through him, and third Is The Church of Jesus Christ of Jesus Christ Of Latter Day Saints Gods true church on the earth which was restored to bring the world to the knowledge necessary to Regain the Presence of God. Secular Christianity has been batteling theology for hundreds of years without a unity of faith. With over 3000 christian denominations in the world today all vying for converts they can't get it right because no one can agree. God restored his truths to the earth to bring us in the unity of the faith. One Faith One Lord and One Baptism is literally what is needed to bring Men the salvation they desperately are seeking. Only the lds church can bring this unity because it is God's true Church restored to earth in preparation for Christs Return (Acts 3: 19-21) 19)Repent ye therefore and be converted that your sins may be blotted out when the times of refreshing shall come from the presence of the Lord. 20) And He shall send Jesus Christ which before was preached unto you: 21) Whom the heavens must receive until the times of the restitution of all things which God hath spoken by the mouth of all his holy prophets since the world began. Lets get back to basics and help our non lds friends understand Gods will concerning His plan of Salvation. The old sticks used by the christian world to beat up Joseph Smith and the lds church are worn out. Christians don't have a leg to stand on when it comes to a true Knowledge of the Nature and Purposes of God, the Mission of His Son Jesus Christ and the true path to salvation for all Gods repentant children. Our discussions should not be debates over things which only faith and the Holy Ghost can confirm but the Bountiful evidences that Joseph Smith was a prophet of God Called in these Last days to fulfill God's promise to restore all things. We should be reasoning together over the discoveries and evidences which were not available when Joseph Smith restored God's Church to the earth but now confirm his gospel as having been taught millennia before, during about two hundred years after Christ. Only when A council of Men organized by a pagan ruler voted on what was and was not doctrine and then establishing a religion based on the book of selected and altered scripture and then adopted showy pagan ritual to become the Church of Contstntine. Then a campaign of distruction for any and all records doctrine or opposition to it's teachings as hiretical or unchristian. Christian churches today have a questionable lineage from that church. It is no wonder they are confused and can't get it right. While good and noble people of all faiths have parts of true doctrine The advesary is delited and works hard to perpetuate the limited understanding of the scriptures contained in the Christian Bible. Gods scripture was, is and will be given to His prophets. His church is built upon a foundation of Apostles and Prophets with Jesus Christ the Chief Cornerstone. It is upon the earth today teaching truths of salvation to all who will listen. I know this to be true and declare my witness to these truths in the name of Jesus Christ. Amen

Do you mean nonsensical as lds beliefs or as non lds belief. Opinions or beliefs have to be based on one's testimony which is revealed through the spirit. The restored truth is just that. Joseph Smith's restored gospel is truth that has been from the beginning and has been taught in all ages of men until the apostasy and "Christian" doctrine voted in by the Nicean scholors and contained in the Necean bible.

I agree with the Dr. G-d must obey eternal laws which are without beginning or end. Our limited understanding and more importantly limited comprehension keeps us from a full hight, depth, and breadth of all that G-d does. (For my ways are higher than your ways)
