  1. I'm all for helping the evironment in which we live, but this is nuts. Hopefully the only thing that will come out of this is, the cause will become extinct. Bunch of Wacko's if you ask me.
  2. This what I keep telling my 8 years old son!! He's slowly catching on. I guess living with his mom has had an effect on him, he never wants to stand up and ### (self-sensored)
  3. Me and my fiance were having this very discussion the other week. She wasn't sure if she'd be able to practice it and honestly, neither was I. But through our discussion we came to this conclusion. IF it is commanded of us in the CK, our hearts will be changed and we will accept it. I must admit that if the church ever brings it back into practice during my life, it will be hard to practice it. The Prophet had said that the church will be challenged in the last days, maybe this will be that challenge.
  4. AH yes, the games women play. I'm glad the woman I found didn't want to play those games. After our 3rd time going out, once to the Temple, she told me she wanted a relationship. Of course it was through e-mail & I happened to be sending her the same message at the same time. It was quite funny. All I can say is, keep trying and have fun doing it.
  5. For all you blondes out there - There was this blonde coed from the University of Utah who was driving way too fast in her red hot Mustang Boss and as she was flying down the road on campus, she noticed a set of lights flashing behind her. She pulled over and a blonde cop from campus security came up and asked for her license. After fumbling around in her purse, she couldn't find it and was getting very frustrated. Ma'am, it's the little rectangular thing with your picture on it. After fumbling around a bit longer, she finds a mirror with "her picture" on it and hands it to the blonde cop. He looks at it for a short time and frowns and then hands it back to her. "Ma'am, you can go, I didn't know you were a cop also."
  6. I found that it's hit & miss in the over 30 dating scene. I dated people that family & friends set me up with, nothing Tried going to singles events, lame Even was on an internet site for about 2 years Then out of the blue, I get a :) from this woman on an LDS dating website. That was last July. We are getting married this coming July. The only advice I have is, Keep trying because you never know where you'll find "the one" Good Luck and have fun in you search
  7. My parents were converts before I was born. Attended church until the age of 18 when I moved out of my parents house. Stopped going to church, & started to do things contrary to the teachings, like drinking, smoking, pre-marital XXX, etc. Married my high school sweetheart, had a son. After 7 years of marriage my wife told me she was gay . Had a new business fail, got divorced. Asked the Lord for help, and he got me a job the next day. Been active ever since. Attended the Temple for the first time March 2006. Getting married in the Temple July 14th. That's my story.
  8. That last one was so funny, I had to forward it to some of my co-workers.
  9. There are times when I cringe when I hear "I know the church is true". In reality, it's not the church that is true, but the Gospel that is taught in church that is true. I try and not say "I know the church is true" but rather "I know The Gospel is true". I also try and work Jesus into my testimony whenever I can. Of course I would have to bare it more often than I do. My 2 cents, for what they are worth.
  10. That was funny. My last dog, no longer with us , was a shar-pei (aka wrinkle dog). He had so many folds of skin on his head so he could hardly see anything. Unfortunately this caused him to bark at EVERYTHING. In the middle of the night he would hear something and start barking like crazy. We would walk down the street and he would bark at a tree until we got close enough for him to see it was only a tree. He would also snore, and not a quiet snore either. It would shake the floorboards. Dogs are the best. I would get another if I could, but my soon to be nephew is super allergic. Hopefully he grows out of it.
  11. "Candy Man" by Sammy Davis Jr. Never heard the song myself.
  12. ALmom - that was hilarious. I work in that industry, and the sad part is that's quite true. Still very very funny
  13. I also get frustrated with slow drivers in the fast lane as well as those people who speed up as you try to pass them . Also people who go 1 or 2 kph or mph below the posted limit, but won't move over because they think they are doing a community service by not letting you speed Also self-centered ex-wives, but that's for another thread
  14. My sister sent this to me yesterday. Subject: How to properly place new employees 1. Put 400 bricks in a closed room. 2. Put your new hires in the room and close the door. 3. Leave them alone and come back after 6 hours. 4. Then analyze the situation: a. If they are counting the bricks, put them in the Accounting Department. b. If they are recounting them, put them in Auditing. c. If they have messed up the whole place with the bricks, put them in Engineering. d. If they are arranging the bricks in some strange order, put them in Planning. e. If they are throwing the bricks at each other, put them in Operations. f. If they are sleeping, put them in Security. g. If they have broken the bricks into pieces, put them in Information Technology. h. If they are sitting idle, put them in Human Resources. i. If they say they have tried different combinations, they are looking for more, yet not a brick has been moved, put them in Sales. j. If they have already left for the day, put them in Marketing. k. If they are staring out of the window, put them in Strategic Planning. l. If they are talking to each other, and not a single brick has been moved, congratulate them and put them in Top Management. m. Finally, if they have surrounded themselves with bricks in such a way that they can neither be seen nor heard from, make them Members of Parliament and/or Senators.

  17. Canuck, Im confused by this. Scouts? Thats not a calling surely? good luck with that! They had my calling lined up before we were even married and before I was in the ward!!!! Yes, Scouts is a calling. We have our own LDS troop for cubs & scouts. Basically it is the Young Men's program disguised as scouting. The good thing about the ward we're moving to, is because of my son, who I only have custody of every other weekend, we will only be attending Sacrament meeting until September. The ward starts @ 3:00pm. We'll have to wait and see what happens
  18. I have 2 callings, both of which will be ending in July when I get married and move out of the ward. I am the 30+ Male Singles Rep for our ward (I no longer attend planning meetings as I no longer consider myself single) I'm also the 11 year old Blazer Scouts Co-leader. I rather enjoy the Blazer leader calling, but the singles rep was a little hard to take sometimes. After I get married, me and my wife are going to lie low (at least try) for a few months until we get settled.
  19. I read that "State of Fear" about a year ago and was shocked by all the evidence against Global Warming. An excellent book. It really makes you think about who is right and why the media is 99% bad news, when there is a lot of good to report. Just my two cents.
  20. What's realy funny, is that he was here in Calgary a day or two ago. I doubt he drove a Prius to get there on time . With those kind of air miles, HE is one of the worst polluters There's a phrase for this situation: "The pot is calling the kettle black"
  21. Very inspiring Almost makes me want to go and do something great. Almost It is a nice poem
  22. The best I got was 22 :) . I did the other one a few months ago, I think I got a 138 . Sounds impressive doesn't it? However, I was watching "Are you smarter than a 5th Grader" last night, and I think I got 4 questions right . What does THAT mean????
  23. I believe that if Al Gore () would be quit for 1 year, the amount of noxious emissions would decrease significantly. Any "South Park" fans here? They did an episode that spoofed Al Gore. It was hilarious, I couldn't stop laughing.
  24. Speaking as a single father who's son is NOT living with him, I have to agree that the courts are women friendly. I'm not saying this is a bad thing in some cases. However, when me and my ex were married, she was the primary income source. She made about twice what I did. This is why she is the primary caregiver. When I went back to school to train for a more lucrative career, there were no child support payment due, seemed fair. Now that I have changed careers and am making more money, still about $15000/year less then she is, she is demanding that I pay half of my sons expenses on top of child care expenses. I was willing to pay a fair portion, but she demanded half. I asked her for a total, and it was less than if we went through the courts, so I agreed. Now I find out that this is NOT tax deductible and she doesn't claim it as income. I also found out that because I pay her for child care and not the daycare itself, I can't get a tax receipt to claim taxes. On one hand I can see why there are some deadbeat dads, but i don't excuse them from their responsibility. I also can not understand how someone can not want to be with their children. I can't go a week without missing my son. I only get to see him every Wednesday and every other weekend, plus vacations. In about a year or so, after my and my fiance have settled into our new lives together, we are going to ask for primary custody. I have nothing against women raising children, I just believe that there should be a male presence in the childs life, whether it's a boy or a girl.
  25. I also met my fiance online. She however had some horrible incidents meeting people from online chat rooms.
