Well what specifically did you want referenced? The many mansions/degrees of glory/heavens/judgment/ or what?1 Cor. 15: 41 41 There is one glory of the asun, and another glory of the moon, and another glory of the bstars: for one star cdiffereth• from another star in dglory. BIBLE DICTIONARY DEGREES OF GLORY It is apparent that if God rewards everyone according to the deeds done in the body, the term heaven as intended for man’s eternal home must include more kingdoms than one. In speaking of man in his resurrected state, Paul tells of glories like the sun, the moon, and the stars (1 Cor. 15: 39-41). He also speaks of the “third heaven” (2 Cor. 12: 2). Jesus spoke of “many mansions” or kingdoms (John 14: 2). Latter-day revelation confirms the teaching of the Bible on these matters and verifies that there are three general categories or glories to which the members of the human family will be assigned in the judgment following their resurrection from the grave.

D&C 93:28 28 He that keepeth his commandments receiveth truth and light, until he is glorified in truth and knoweth all things. D&C 93:29 29 Man was also in the beginning with God. Intelligence, or the light of truth, was not created or made, neither indeed can be. D&C 93:30 30 All truth is independent in that sphere in which God has placed it, to act for itself, as all intelligence also; otherwise there is no existence. D&C 93:31 31 Behold, here is the agency of man, and here is the condemnation of man; because that which was from the beginning is plainly manifest unto them, and they receive not the light. D&C 93:32 32 And every man whose spirit receiveth not the light is under condemnation. D&C 93:33 33 For man is spirit. The elements are eternal, and spirit and element, inseparably connected, receive a fulness of joy; D&C 93:34 34 And when separated, man cannot receive a fulness of joy. D&C 93:35 35 The elements are the tabernacle of God; yea, man is the tabernacle of God, even temples; and whatsoever temple is defiled, God shall destroy that temple. D&C 93:36 36 The glory of God is intelligence, or, in other words, light and truth. FB: We know that God created our spirits. Intelligence was never created or made, and therefore we were also in the beginning with God. That is the beginning of creation since we too always existed. Where in these scriptures does it state that spirit was created? I see the teachings of later prophets like pres. Kimball and JFSmith, but I don't see the teaching of JS saying anything about spirits being created and intelligences being given spirit bodies.... Of course coming from a prophet....it must be right....but why isn't there any scripture for this doctrine. It seems so fundamental. I mean it really isn't explained very well or given purpose.
-
I can't find anywhere in the scriptures where it teaches the doctrine of intelligences being clothed in spirit body. It seems from Abraham 3:22-23 that spirit and intelligence are the same thing.

Is this a real scenario that you know of or a hypothetical one? This seems sort of financially irresponsible of the couple. Unless the church actually promised them support or required a financial statement from them before they issued the call and then issued it anyway. Absolutely. I know that exact situation. And it is about to happen to another couple I know. Well I don't think that calling rich mission presidents is the answer to this problems. Mission Presidents are supported by the church during their service. It's the little guy that seems to be suffering. I still think that couples should have the sense to not spend all their savings on missionary service. That seems a little irresponsible on their part. My uncle was a mission pres and he didn't get taken care of. He was a big oil man and paid for everything but the Mission home where he lived for three years, which was owned by the church. They may have been given a car owned by the church as well. But food, clothing, and day to day expenses including gasing the cars was all out of his pocket.

Actually, my daughter went three straight years without a day off except for a 2 week unpaid vacation. It was her male counterparts who never showed up on time, went home early with head aches or whatever, and she got less pay for it.

The last line is funny, and the rest is wishful thinking! I'll be damned if I am going to work my bum of to support some lazy stay at home mom, just to hear her nag me about the dishes and the floor, and complain that I don't pay her enough attention. Men who make good money don't have to put up with that---your requests are an invitation to get yourself "kicked to the curb, honey!". Disclaimer: Nothing in the aformentioned statement is to be construed to encourge infidelity or abuse. Let it be known that this author totally and fully supports a loving and mutually respectful marriage. Let it also be known that cleaning the toilets for a fat, lazy, stay at home mom, after the guy busts his bum at work all day, is against public policy and should be against the law! Why is it that all men assume the woman is staying home eating bon bons while watching soaps??? I work really hard! I do all the books, bills, housework, kids, chauffering, homework with kids, meal planning, shopping, buying of presents, mailing of packages, hair cuts, and even remodeling, repairs, yard work, etc. Why should I work around the clock while my husband gets off at 5 and sits in front of the table expecting dinner and later hours infront of the tv? Why shouldn't I expect and get a little help around the house at least on week-ends?

Where science ends, God takes over.

Hasn't it always been so?

Five tips for a woman.... 1. It is important that a man helps you around the house and has a job. 2. It is important that a man makes you laugh. 3. It is important to find a man you can count on and doesn't lie to you. 4. It is important that a man loves you and spoils you 5. It is important that these four men don't know each other. Send this to five bright, funny women you know and make their day. WE ALL NEED TO SMILE !!!

A Housewife's Guide To Keeping The Home
Amillia replied to DisRuptive1's topic in General Discussion
Perfect response--totally predictable "woman" response. The problem is this: What Disrupt said about a man being able to trade up is qualifiedly true. The qualifyer us this: A guy can get as good looking a woman as his MONEY can afford. A woman can get as rich a guy as her LOOKS can attract. If the guy makes a lot of money, why should he put up with a stay at home woman that won't do anything for him; who won't make his breakfast, whines about his whiskers in the sink and turns into a big fat slob? Why? What's in it for him to stay with her when he can get a young, good looking one who will do all that stuff? Disclaimer: Do not interpret that statement as my ADVOCATING that men leave their woman when they start making more money. I'm just trying to articulate to you women what goes on in the mind of a man. Do you get it yet. Now guys--the same thing can happen to you. If you marry a really stunningly beautiful woman, who keeps herself up and who thought you had real potential for making money---watch out if later on you don't make all that much money, and YOU start doing what Winnie is complaining about (expecting stuff, being a slob etc) The only women that have to put up with their husband's being slobs are the ones that aren't good looking enough to get one that can take care of her any better. So guys, if you are not going to make good money, then be ready to make your own breakfast, and get sex when she is good and ready. Be prepared to be nagged about the things Winnie is complaining about if you are not going to make a big pile of money. I know women hate to hear that because they think that the whole world is this big romatic fantacy, and that her guy is going to fall all over her and worship her feet, "just because". Sorry girls, I like romance as much as the next guy, but not understanding the ground rules to begin with can ruin the romance real quick. So, women, stroke his eqo, make his breakfast and quit nagging, unless you are drop dead gorgeous. And guys, if you don't want a nagging slob tied around your neck forever, don't get married until you can afford someone else. Just a little practical advice---not recommending that anyone mistreat anyone--- married people should bend over backward to please eachother. But "should" is not always "IS". I am so thankful that there are still a few real men out there, I am married to one and my dad was one. Does anyone really know the definition of the word man? Mostly all I have seen post here are playboys. -
What questions?

The concept of intelligences becoming spirits has always intriqued me. Because, Abraham saw us as intelligences, some of which were the noble and great who would become the leaders on earth. If we then became spirits, were we no longer intelligences? Or were we spirit intelligences? And what was the difference between intelligences and spirits? What changed?

lGod said so. Everyone knows that the best and most effectual teaching tool is EXAMPLE.

Proves what? All it proves is that the GA has a vivid imagination. People hear and see all kinds of things that aren't there. There is plenty of documented evidence of people sensing things that don't really exist. We see what we expect to see and sense what we expect to sense. It doens't mean that it was a supernatural source--the human mind is capable of plenty of imaginations without resort to some "other world" explanation. Cada cabeza es un mundo. Who created the human mind to bring forth such wonders? and at such timely times. Maybe we were preprogrammed before we came down here to have such experiences through our brain. hmmmm?

Did it have a purpose? God doesn't do anything that doesn't have a divine purpose.

If the word Kolob was new with JS, it wasn't made up. The concept of God living on another planet isn't new, I know that. I am still searching, though my eyes are about to bug out of my head! LOL

I'll tell you what I think. When the Lord wants the people to practice polygamy and they obey, they are blessed. When he doesn't want them to practice polygamy and they disobey and do it anyway, they are cursed. There is a time and season for everything under the sun. JS was commanded to practice it as was others. Then there were situations which made the Lord take it away. It isn't all that complicated. There is a scripture in the BofM which states that when it is ordained of God, it is good, when it isn't, it is evil. When higher laws are taken from among the people, it is because of either one of two reasons. One, the people are not righteous enough, or else it is because the world they live in is too wicked.

There are many teachings in the Bible which are not understood because of their presentation. I have come accross many, but haven't ever written them down because I didn't have a reason. I was studying only for me. I should write a book!I don't think there has ever been anything written in the Bible as to the number of wives. But if there was it would be somewhere in the laws given to the people of Moses. They had a law for everything!! However, on second thought, the laws of Moses were lower laws and the laws of eternal marriage are higher laws and therefore would be in the NT under the teachings of Christ and His apostles. I will see what I can see. Now, I don't understand why you missed this. I gave you some background to the temple ceremonies and covenants which were too sacred to just put out on the street. They were put under a special guard after the attack on Solomon's temple. These were the Knights Templar. JS was given several experiences inwhich he was able to regain or restore the doctrines found in the Temple. I will research more for you. But just for you! Kolob was revelation found in some of the writtings of the books missing in the bible. I will also look that one up. I haven't a lot of time right now, so don't think I won't answer if I don't get back to it tonight. Forgotten Books of Eden Book of Enoch Missing Books of the Bible

Jenda, don't feel bad. I have done the same thing several times and I have also gotten some really good replies. If there is one thing that bothers me it is people who profess to have the perfect everything. Unfortunately, that is so much what it is like where I live. People show up at all church functions with perfection oozing from their pours. That false persona builds up a barrier when it comes to getting to know someone. After all, who wants to make an effort to get to know Barbie and Ken, they are plastic. That is true. Plus it takes years and years to get to a point of communicating that I have come to. You should just look at all the wrecks and carnage on the road that got us here. And we are never finished. It is an on going work in progress forever I suspect. That is why it is called eternal progression! I will share some dirty laundry just so you won't stand alone Jenda. About 10 years ago my husband changed jobs and started working with some really gutter mouthed sleeze balls. All of a sudden when we had arguments, he would call me the B word. Yeah! Right in front of the kids! It took a long time to work that one out.

OK...Amillia, as you know, I'm sure, I was referring to the LDS scriptures that have been additional to the bible, eg. BofM, D&C, BofA, PoGP...and more? probably...yes, you're right we do have to question the validity of the content of the bible too...Absolutely. But we must look for the good must we not? As you say King James chose to have parts of the Bible omitted from his version, why do the LDS use this as THEIR chosen version? why not one of the others? I heard the answer to this once, but I'm not sure I remember the answer correctly. I will take a stab at it anyway. The King James version was claimed to be the most correct of all translations. The word changes of emporur to king was only one of many changes. This change was really only significant to the king or emporur. Also, the books that were eliminated weren't considered doctrinal or significant enough to make the book larger and harder to reproduce. It is very good at keeping the words true to their original meanings. In the language from which it came, there were different words for love to indicate which kind of love it was referring to, but the english language didn't afford this. There were quite a few other words which had a similar problem, because languages don't always translate straight accross. For instance there is a phrase in French : il faut. In english the best we can do is : must or have to. But in French il faut is so much stronger with a insinuated threat if not complied with. To be able to correctly translate scripture with it's intended message and all it's nuauces(sp) isn't as easy as it may seem. As to polygamy...okay, you say it was practised in the Bible, but many took more wives than God said they should? So you can supply me with Bible scriptures where God sanctions polygamy and states what number of wives each man is allowed? Here is just one example of a righteous man having many wives. Judges 8 22 ¶ Then the men of Israel said unto Gideon, Rule thou over us, both thou, and thy son, and thy son’s son also: for thou hast delivered us from the hand of Midian. 23 And Gideon said unto them, I will not arule over you, neither shall my son rule over you: the LORD shall brule• over you. 24 ¶ And Gideon said unto them, I would desire a request of you, that ye would give me every man the earrings of his prey. (For they had golden earrings, because they were Ishmaelites.) 25 And they answered, We will willingly give them. And they spread a garment, and did cast therein every man the earrings of his prey. 26 And the weight of the agolden• earrings that he requested was a thousand and seven hundred bshekels• of gold; beside cornaments•, and collars, and purple raiment that was on the kings of Midian, and beside the chains that were about their camels’ necks. 27 And Gideon made an aephod• thereof, and put it in his city, even in Ophrah: and all Israel went thither a whoring after it: which thing became a bsnare• unto Gideon, and to his house. 28 ¶ Thus was Midian subdued before the children of Israel, so that they lifted up their heads no more. And the country was in quietness forty years in the days of Gideon. 29 ¶ And Jerubbaal the son of Joash went and dwelt in his own house. 30 And Gideon had threescore and ten sons of his body begotten: for he had many wives. 31 And his concubine that was in Shechem, she also bare him a son, whose name he called Abimelech. 32 ¶ And Gideon the son of Joash died in a good old age, and was buried in the sepulchre of Joash his father, in Ophrah of the Abi-ezrites. 33 And it came to pass, as soon as Gideon was dead, that the children of Israel turned again, and went a whoring after Baalim, and made Baal-berith their god. 34 And the children of Israel remembered not the LORD their God, who had delivered them out of the hands of all their enemies on every side: 35 Neither shewed they kindness to the house of Jerubbaal, namely, Gideon, according to all the goodness which he had shewed unto Israel. Also, can you answer my other questions regarding the origins of the doctrine of Marriage for Time and All Eternity, and whilst we're at it, any reference to the planet Kolob being made in the Bible, and its being the closest planet to God? The story is that the Nights Templar were the gardians of the Solomon's temple ceremony and that the Mason's are the decendant organization of these nights. The teachings of eternal marriage would have been among their things to guard as the world came apart into the dark ages. The Crusades were all about finding the holy grale and the temple nights and their sacred ceremonies and teachings. They were not successful. But as you can see, Moses doesn't teach people to build arks and Noah doesn't teach people the ten commandments. Each dispensation has it's work and the work of JS was to restore all that had been lost over the last 6000. Sorry to have gone off the subject here a little Huma17...also, I am very sorry that you had to lose your mother at an early age (I'm assuming you are quite young too...sorry if I'm wrong) and that your father remarrying and all that stuff about being sealed to both women, and both sets of children is so confusing and possibly upsetting to you...this is why I question the validity of the Doctrine...it causes so much heartache and confusion for so many!!! Why was it made??? It was given to become as the Gods. It may seem complicated here and now, but it is really simple when the Lord becomes involved because he know our hearts and will do what is best for us. The use of this doctrine for our day is that we need to purify our hearts to such an end that we will do even the hard things to understand, just to comply with him. Consider Abraham being asked to sacrifice his only son through the chosen linage. It is no different. The Lord wants to prove our loyalty and obedience to him instead of trusting in the arm of flesh meaning, trusting in our own understandings.
