I wonder how important it will be to us when the Lord choses if we go on his right hand or his left. Matt. 25: 32-34 32 And before him shall be gathered all anations: and he shall bseparate them one from another, as a cshepherd divideth his dsheep from the goats: 33 And he shall set the sheep on his aright• hand, but the goats on the left. 34 Then shall the King say unto them on his aright• hand, Come, ye bblessed of my Father, cinherit the dkingdom• prepared for you from the foundation of the world: See Jenda's post. I don't agree. All the religious ceremonies are symbolic. Being willing to follow the instructions of performing these religious ceremonies which are given in a certain way to represent the symbolic meaning is what it is all about. Otherwise, how would bread and water really mean the flesh and blood of Christ? Why not use soda crackers and milk?

What if the man lets his looks go (in my dh's case, his belly!)? I have to disagree with the rule. Men do marry for looks, but not all women marry for money. I didn't. My dh was as poor as dirt, but handsome as Kurt Russel.

So, you think that just preaching to a gay person is going to stop them from being gay? Maybe we could preach to the Chimps too--they are actually pretty smart. Just preaching? It is about spiritual laws. If they have been given these teachings and choose to ignore them (which they are free to do) then they have chosen to ignore teachings which require a higher level of spiritual adherence. There are always laws and law breakers. But Chimps aren't given the same laws as man. Get over it. Really? Who made the law that says that being born gay is a sin? Who said being born a gay was a sin? It is acting upon that weakness which is a sin. Why can't you separate these two concepts?

Go start your church somewhere else----the last thing I need is another a pain in the %^&* trying to get my money. LOL did you know that all things belong to God? You have no money. All the money you may have is God's. I will agree that even though it is all God's we shouldn't just give to every tom ###### and harry church.

Well if one wants to be like a chimp what can we do about it? Exactly, now just apply your statement to humans--after all we share over 99% of our genes with those cute little guys. We were sent down here with totally different assignments, and intelligent capacities. Genes are just physical traites. What you have to deal with is the Spiritual missions and purposes being totally different.

If the end times are truly at our doors, better to repent now of having ascribed racial foolishness to God than to present him at his coming with a church that still officially teaches he thinks dark skin is a bad thing. God has always shown a prejudice through out the bible. Have you read it? He had a chosen people. Is that not a prejudice? If you prefered one of your children over another and gave them more attention, wouldn't that be considered wrong by men? But this is God. HE does what HE knows is best. HE has changed HIS prejudice towards some and turned it upon others according to HIS wisdom. HE knows all things. Consider the fact that the Israelites were slaves for 400 years and then the Black were slaves for 200 years as were the American Indians. Consider how HE gave some people land by taking it from others when the Israelites were finally freed and after they wandered 40 years in the desert. What is holding the priesthood back then, being limited to only those who came through the levitical line, any more prejudicial than Him not allowing the Blacks to have the priesthood for a 100 or so years? Out of the 6000 years God has been dealing with this planet and it's people, 100 years is really a pretty light sentence. Amillia, It's one thing for there to be a "chosen people," or a limited priestly class. It's another when things are reversed -- that is, when most people are eligible for the priesthood, and a small group is not. The latter situation does make it look like you're sticking your thumb in the eye of the excluded group. I'm not sure what you're trying to say by pointing out that blacks were enslaved for 200 years. (Actually, it's more like 300, if you count Brazil.) Are you saying that was God's will? I've always thought that black slavery was an evil, a result of people who should have known better exercising their free agency in ways that conflict with the clear dictates of the gospel of Christ. You sentence people for crimes. What crime did black people commit, to be barred from the priesthood and the temple -- many of them for their entire lives? My point about 200 years vs 400 or your correction to 300 vs 400 is that in our day the tool of the Devil is to get people so focused and upset about some things that they miss the really important things. This issue of racist behavior by the church is nothing more than a diversion to keep people turned away from the Church of God. There have been slaves in every country and in every civilization since the beginning of it. We make too much of this thing. I have seen a dozen movies and shows that put out this same scenario. Keep them so busy fighting among themselves that they can't come together against the real evil things surrounding us. Moroni and Mormon saw this particular problem in our day and gave us the historical event happening in their written history. It was when the Kingman tried to divide the country with putting down the ruling Judge P. trying to take over the government. In the mean time the real problem was the gandianton robbers.

I like that statement Cal and don't go giving up your membership! :)

One last little point: If gayness were this big sin and simply a moral indiscretion, how do you explain that the rate of gayness in humans is similar in rate and quality to gayness in chimpanzees? And is also present in other mammalian groups as well. Did God create gayness? It appears He did. How then is it a sin? Did God create sinful things? Are chimps going to answer to God for being gay? The last time I heard, Chimps didn't have the teachings of the prophets or the level of accountability to sin. When did that change?

I believe that even babies can be made sick by evil spirits within a home. It is scientific studies which as proven that what helps us spiritually helps us physically. Happiness helps us heal. Praying has been studied and found to be physically beneficial. I believe in science and I believe God is the master of it. Well in that case, Amellia, the next time someone has a heart attack, let's not bother to take him to the emergency room--lets just have a seance. seance is of demons. the science of medicine came from God. He gave us knowledge of how to help ourselves. But there ae times and situations which require God's intervention. Don't be so predictably over the top on this. by saying~ don't need doctors call upon the demons. Now you have really got me confused. So you DO think that it is ok to rely on modern science to solve medical problems. We can always call on God when science goes wrong. Is that it? Why not just go to the source? Why would God give us all this scientific knowledge, if he could just answer our prayers? We are here to learn, experience, mature in knowledge and get to know God. I like this scripture: D&C 88: 47 47 Behold, all these are akingdoms•, and any man who hath bseen• any or the least of these hath cseen• God dmoving• in his majesty and power. As we learn science we learn about God.

Everyone knows Gen. 6: 5 5 ¶ And GOD saw that the awickedness• of man was great in the earth, and that bevery• imagination of the cthoughts• of his dheart was only eevil continually. Gen. 8: 21 21 And the LORD smelled a sweet asavour•; and the LORD said in his heart, I will not again bcurse• the ground any more cfor• man’s sake; for the dimagination• of man’s heart is eevil from his youth; neither will I again fsmite any more every thing living, as I have done. Ether 3: 2 2 O Lord, thou hast said that we must be encompassed about by the floods. Now behold, O Lord, and do not be aangry• with thy servant because of his weakness before thee; for we know that thou art holy and dwellest in the heavens, and that we are bunworthy• before thee; because of the cfall our dnatures• have become evil continually; nevertheless, O Lord, thou hast given us a commandment that we must call upon thee, that from thee we may receive according to our desires. The natural man is an enemy to God.

Is Kinsey your daughter? Is she gay? Is that why you feel the way you do?

How interesting. I saw it as negative towards women and it wasn't.

Where are my post replies to this thread. I have made three just on this page alone!

I don't know that anything is being swept under the rug. Are we to dwell on unproductive and non-relative subjects while we have the end times at our doors?

Rev. 8: 1 1 AND when he had opened the seventh seal, there was silence in heaven about the space of half an hour. So did you and your wife have a little tiff this week? This would explain some of your untoward posts.

The only way to avoid it completely is not get married. Want any other pearls of wisdom. Short of that, things that lessen the likelihood........ 1) Don't get married young (before 25 at least)--the worse advice I got from any LDS church leader was to hurry up and get married right after your mission. Church leaders REALLY need to STOP telling return missionaries to get married before they are through with their educations and get a career. 2) So, don't get married until you have your education (at least BA)--both men and women---and have been working at a career for a few years---financial trouble is the main cause of divorce. 3) Postponing marriage also allows you to get to know yourself and have experience with lots of personality types so you know what you want, and don't feel deprived of a fun singlehood. 4) Don't have kids for at least 5 years after you are married. Kids often ruin romance. 5) Women--give your husband sex whenever he wants it, and don't turn into a fat slob. Give him his way most the time, and he will reward you by actually letting you make most the decisions---NEVER, and I mean NEVER let him think that you expect to be in charge--and NEVER whine. Men HATE that---and if he is any kind of man, he will kick you to the curb the first time you do it. Don't pretend to be one way before marriage, and then change into something else after you snagg him--he will resent you for it. Expect that the guy is going to be an inconsiderate slob some of the time--accept it. If you can't don't marry him. 6) Men---make a lot of money, nothing else keeps women has happy as that. And be kind and polite to her, but don't lose your manly, independent edge. (In otherwords, don't let her cut your ________s off--let her know right off the top who is in charge--and stay in charge. If she starts nagging you while you are still dating, kick her to the curb quick. If she starts doing it after you are married---give her the ultimatum "knock it off, or I'm out of here".... and mean it. Most important rule of all: Never try to change the person after you are married, accept the person COMPLETELY--short of actual abuse (which you should be able to notice BEFORE you get married--which is why you date them a LONG time before agreeing to marry) This should get things rolling.... I actually agree with you Cal, 100%. We shouldn't be telling people to get married and fill a nest they haven't even built yet. Even nature dictates preparation! And I agree women should give their men sex when ever they ask, but I also think a guy should not be so selfish as to ask when he knows his wife isn't in the mood or is tired from keeping his house clean and helping to bring home the bacon. And I think a guy should help with the housework and children when they come. I think marriage has to be a partnership, not bipartisen(sp) like republicans and democrats who just try and put forth their own agenda and put down the other's. I think marriages today are too much like politics and need to be totally revamped into something that works and benefits.

Guess that disqualifies most the women in the church Women? I had specifically worded that post in your behalf :) LOL In truth I believe it applies to us all. Few it is that receive councle from G-d with joy and celebration. I love the line in fidler on the roof that went something like "Can't someone else be your chosen people once in a while?" There have been a number of things that have taken me years to learn to accept without whining. The Traveler I am glad you said you were only kidding! I don't believe there are many who can say they have never whined.

How was he perfect without sin and the only one? How did that happen? We are all brothers and sisters, zillions of us. Yet not but one is perfect? There are thoughts which say we have different comings, such as the Adam God idea. It seems that it must be true if Christ was perfect and we were not. Don't you think? How else can you explain his perfectness? We have come to believe in our day that "perfect" means without flaw or shortcoming. Anciently perfect meant something else (see Matt 5:48 Be ye there perfect....) Perfect here has to do with covenant. Perfect in covenant means to complete all the covenants. There is two parts to completing a covenant. First is to willingly accept the covenant without whining. Second is to prove through a trial or test that one is loyal and worthy of the covenant. That is all there is to being perfect. In Matt 5:48 the reason Jesus could not use himself as an example is because when he spoke he had not completed his conventual trial. That would come later when he have himself as a sacrifice (atonement). You will note that in the Book of Mormon Jesus does offer himself as an example in that he had completed his coventual trial. Let me give an example. Whenever a discussion about keeping the Sabbath holy comes up most people start off with a list of do's and don't's. But the problem I have is that often the do's and don't's are not really related to covenant. I always ask "What is your Sabbath covenant?" What promise do you have with G-d concerning your Sabbath activities? If you talk to a Jew or Muslem about Sabbath covenants they have a very clear understanding. For some reason most Christians seem to be clueless and would rather argue about do's and don't's and tell everybody else what they are doing wrong. This then brings up the whole strain at a nat and swallow a cammel thing. In truth telling others what is wrong with them will not help perfecting one's own covenant. I believe this is one of the main things Jesus taught - that is to be right with your covenants before you even think about correcting others. Thus the command for those without sin to cast the first stone - or the command to be perfect. Many think it is difficult to be LDS - but you know what? Our covenants are really quite easy and simple; even little children can be loyal to LDS covenants. It does not require a university degree to love G-d or your neighbor and that is all it really boiles down to. Since most of us have some problems the LDS is church (kingdom and priesthood) set up to help us become much more service orenited. So you see, being perfect is not going home teaching or vesiting teaching every month - it is learning to love others through service by covenant. And the nifty thing is when you figgure out a mistake - you just repent and correct it. The system is both easy and fail safe. Therefore perfect does not mean that you never stumble - it just means that when you stumble you just get up (repent) and move on. The Traveler The Traveler What about the perfect expounded in Moroni 10:32-33? I have come to believe perfect is completely sin free through the atonement, and being filled with the charity/pure love of Christ as taught in Moroni 7:47-48.
