I just don't see it as a priority, I feel it would be making me even more spiritual ly different to my husband (and garments). If people are saying don't worry Heavenly Father will sort it all out and I can't be sealed to my family now, why the rush, I might change my mind at some point who knows.. I doubt it will be any time soon though. -

Hi Sorry if I have posted in the wrong place, I am just looking for a little advice and I don't really want to chat to my ward about it. I have been a member for little under a year now and I've been twice to the temple to do baptisms. It was nice, I enjoyed it when I got there but I also found it very nerve racking as I get a bit anxious from time to time. Anyway... I have really thought about this a great deal but I've decided I never want to go to the temple and be endowed. My spouse isn't a member so no problems with sealing or anything. I feel that strongly I've even had nightmares about going. I honestly just don't feel it's for me. I plan to keep worthy to go. Will this effect me in Church at all? Can you be a member and never be endowed? -
Yes!! People taking things to extremes and believing these extremes make them more righteous, like the commandments aren't enough. I think in this case, Jesus healed people on the sabbath, that's good enough for me.

Forgive me if I have placed this in the wrong place. I keep getting people message me (not on here) who send me anti stuff and accuse me of child abuse because I want to bring my kids up in the safety of the Church (true story). Why won't these people leave us alone, even if they don't like the Church, we are not harming anyone...I just find them really bizzare and a bit scary if I'm honest. It just makes me wonder how someone who once had the truth could have their heart turned like that? All these people must have felt the spirit? What will happen to them when they die, can they repent in spirit prison?

I'm sorry but I really dislike this comment as it's making the assumption that someone is poor because they are unable to get their lives in order. This might be true for a small micro section of society but lots of families with means are disfunctional too. A few years ago they did a social experiment in the UK where they gave so many families all of their benefits for the year. Yes, they made mistakes, for some it was the biggest amount of money they had, had in their lives but at the end of the experience some had started their own businesses, one was at university and the others had work. It gave them options rather then living day to day and their self respect back.

Personally I love the idea, The UK is a very expensive place to live and this will give people who work but earn minimum wage etc opportunities to further their education or take time out to look after family etc.. Studies have shown that small scale investment like this really increases the skill Base of a country and saves money long term as they have less people needing state lead care etc. I know if I was paid it I could afford to stay home with my kids which isn't an option at the minute as my husband earns too much to have any government help but not enough to cover our essential bills. Edited to say.. The welfare state in the UK is quite comprehensive and we get taxed quite heavily though so a system like this, to me seems fairer then the one we have currently.

Hi Guys, I'm going to start reading a chapter a day of the D & C institute manual, I've never read it before so I thought it would really help with Sunday School. Anyone want to join maybe we could post what we think while we go through?

I'm currently on a two year plan to change my career so continue with that Start food storage Lose some weight

@Sunday21 I'm going to read through the D & C institute manual this year to help me now I've finished the Book of Mormon one. Ive never read the Doctrine and Covenants so it should be interesting.

Made me look like Margaret Thatcher... Did you steal the milk at a family fun day? @MormonGator

Im certainly not an exception in my ward as far as being educated goes, there are quite a few nurses etc in my RS. I think I'm an exception politically and although I teach RS, based on the answers people give in lessons I am probably alot more liberal then some with my ideas or conclusions I get from the material. I have some groups on Facebook (faith promoting ones) where the majority are from Utah and it seems like a completely different way of life so I'm just curious.

Hahaha I thought I had spelt it wrong for a moment there!! Mummy brain (well that's my excuse anyway!!)

I really like this, certainly one must be cautious of pride. In the institute manual for the Book of Mormon it describes babylon the great as any belief system which interferes with God. In fact I believe with certain things Satan actually makes some beliefs very close to the Gospel for that very purpose. in example the law of consecration and communism.

A very good point, I think if your the type of person who looks for similarities rather then differences you can make friends with anyone.. With a bit of perseverance.

im not complaining. I have just read things which suggests that the Church culture in other places is different. I love my ward. I have loads of friends and people love my teaching as I can think outside of the box, give them new perspectives to consider I'm fairly easy going too so I like to think I would fit in anywhere. And people have said I've been a blessing for the ward. One of my friends actually got up in f and t meeting and said she had been praying because she was lonely then I joined the ward. I have been offended though, mostly by older people in the ward sticking there beaks in my marriage. meh, I'm here to worship God so I've got over it. I think you have mis understood what I mean. I just find the fact that the Church is very different in America interesting.

I have been thinking for some time about Church culture, here in the UK we are quite laid back from what I can gather compared to places with higher concentrations of Lds. I am an educated lady, married to a Buddhist who studied feminism at uni and is a member of the Labour party in the UK. I find myself thinking would I have been welcome in the Church anywhere else? Would I have been able to fit in and if not do you think the Church culture is a barrier to Convert retention?

Ive just joined the Church and have a limited use recommend, two callings etc.. I don't feel as though I'm being restricted in anyway, infact I feel that the Gospel has made me happier and less likely to worry about things as I have an answer. I think you need to seek help, I will pray for you. And on the family thing, my husband isn't a member but I'm sure God will sort it out so I don't worry, I would like my husband to join but that's just because it would be nice for us all to be on the same page, it's not a brooding stress thing

I would just like to take the opportunity to thank everyone on this forum for their help and patience. This past year has been one of the most spiritual and difficult years of my life but joining the Church is one of the best decisions I have ever made. The Gospel has brought me a lot of happiness, I love my ward family and calling and in turn its made me a better wife and mother too. I am now looking forward next year to my Patriarchal blessing and receiving my endowments. Im going back to work in January so I'm going to be on the Internet less but I wish you all a wonderful Christmas and a happy and blessed new year xx

I personally don't think it will be as dry cut as that, I think if Heavenly Father wanted it to be, then we would have known from the restoration. I think as imperfect humans we need to categorise things into boxes, but being sealed to your spouse is no guarantee that you will be exalted. In the end we are going to be one big spiders Web, sealed to each other all the way back to Adam and Eve, we just have to trust Heavenly Father when it's said we won't be placed where we won't be comfortable and the Apostles of the Lord who say nothing will be denied the faithful.

Yes they Are!! Thanks you guys are great

No its I that should apologise, I just find it so difficult sometimes that my lovely husband who practically lives as a member won't join the Church, frustrating that he can't see the truth. I suppose here in lies the danger, I'm sure there are a plethora of organisations/ religions willing to give me what I want to hear rather than what is true. Changed it so it made more sense
