  1. I songs songs to my mother.....to my wife.....to my kids.....do I worship them? No. We honor Joseph. We thank him. We respect him. We do not worship him.
  2. We can discuss and debate the issue all day long. And debates are fun. But the actual answer is easy: It is the Father's Plan. Like it, hate it, accept it, reject it....it does not matter...it is the Father's Plan....and anything about that is way above my pay grade.
  3. I am not critical of peter at all....I simply said I hope to learn from that. Peter was deeply ashamed
  4. That is why I asked for morality to be defined. And once you do that.....please tell me how you decide which culture is correct?
  5. Different cultures have different moral standards
  6. I disagree....both are hard. Integrity is what matters. I will not lie about my belief to save my life.
  7. I am not just behind a keyboard. I served as a missionary in Honduras, and I served my country in the Army. Plus, from my smiley, I hope the humor element was noticed. But, I stand behind my sadness that people are too afraid to stand for their beliefs.
  8. Then maybe you are a yankee who moved to Texas That is your excuse for cowardice? You are not a prophet or apostle? Is that what you will tell Christ?
  9. A darn good one. David killed. Moses killed. Abraham killed. The list is long. Maybe we Texans are just sturdier folk...willing to die for what we believe and rather die than Deny Heavenly Father. Joseph Smith has done much for the Church AFTER his death....
  10. A darn good one...just not here. Still, I would never listen to a missionary too afraid to stand for what he or she believes
  11. Another good book is Voices From the Dust....https://www.amazon.com/Voices-Dust-Comparative-Evaluation-Archaeology/dp/1881825507 some very interesting points made.
  12. How good a missionary can you be if the people you teach know you lied about God just to stay alive?
  13. No...the Melchizedek Priesthood. And that is the problem...it was something for which he needed to repent. I am hopeful to learn from the sins of others, not repeat them
  14. Peter denied Christ. I hope I am strong enough not to.
  15. Saying I believe in the Bible or the Book of Mormon is not saying I worship it. Can you point to where I said that? I distinctly said that my belief in God is not parceled out like a cafeteria. The Bible is His Word. So is the Book of Mormon. If I worship God, I accept His word, right? If someone sees me carrying my Book of Mormon and asks me if I believe that is the Word of God, I will not lie....even if it costs me my life. Are you saying you would lie?
  16. I would die for it...not because it is a book, but because it is part and parcel to my beliefs. I would not believe the Book of Mormon or the Bible if I did not believe in God. How can I separate God from His Word? He is the Gospel....the Good News. I doubt anyone would threaten my life over the Book of Mormon that was not also threatening it over my belief in God.
  17. You do not need reasons not to leave. You just need a reason to stay: It is True.
  18. I think one can choose to be insulted, or choose not to be. Rejoice that people know you are LDS. Rejoice that they think you are LDS enough to call you that. We hold the truth. WE hold the keys. WE have the Priesthood. Call me any name you want.
  19. I served in the Army. I always felt Ft. Polk and Ft. Leonardwood were the worst. Ft. Sill was not great, but doable...I spent 3 years there. Also did Ft. Hood. Ft. Lewis was pretty nice. I also served at Ft. Clayton, Panama and Soto Cano Airbase, Honduras
  20. Yikes As a former Army guy....Ft. Polk?
  21. it was actually written first...though published last......was not a fan of it...it was ok.
  22. 2 Who art thou? Suppose ye that we shall believe the testimony of one man, although he should preach unto us that the earth should pass away? Alma was teaching those in Ammonihah They asked him this. Do you know what is amazing about this verse? The people were invoking Jewish Law. Jewish Law requires at least two witnesses. They were invoking Jewish Law! How would they have known Jewish Law if they did not have Jewish ancestors? And how would Joseph have known that? Evidence of the truth of the Book of Mormon.......
  23. "To Kill a Mockingbird" inspired me to become an attorney.
