  1. Okay, let me see if I can Clarify, Just before the Millenium, Christ will come to riegn and there will be a thousand years of peace following him appearing. The beginnign of the millenium, is the completion of the "first ressurection" D&C 88 This will mark the beginnign of the millenium, and the first and second ressurections. He will take over the government and cause his diciples to go about doing the work of the Lord, Temple work. I presume that during this time, money and "capitolism" will be abandoned and people will come together to help eachother in all thier neccecities, no more poverty, no more hunger. The saints will be living among everyone else, as resurrected beings. helping the work to come forth, more than likely the Temples will be in operation 24/7. Children who died before maturity, will be raised by thier parents in the millenium. and more children will be born as well, untill the very last spirit has a body. The Kingdom of man will be no more, only the Kingdom of God. and Christ will reign on this earth untill the earth is renewed and recieves its paradasiacal glory.
  2. Wrong, we do not worship Christ, we worship god, THROUGH christ that is what we have been taught. Christ is the great mediator, our savior and our brother and friend. Through Christ we are able to return to live with our heavenly father. We do not pray to Chirst, we pray IN THE NAME of Christ. Joseph smith is more akin to Noah than Moses, in his own words.... he responded to a question "Who are you?" he said "Noah came before the flood; I came before the fire"
  3. Good one A-train, very good, thanks for that, I agree completely. altho i am more so favorable to the side of Calling them the "Godhead" because we do not worship christ, we worship our Heavenly Father, through Christ and by the power of the Holy Ghost.
  4. If you read the headers of the chapters you wills ee that they do not actually conflict with eachother, "the Gods" in regards to the "Godhead" (namely God the Father, Jesus Christ the Son, and the Holy Spirit). Christ created this world for us and everythign in it under the direction of Heavenly Father. Then when it came to creating Man, God did that himself. As for the Prophesies of Joseph Smith, The slaves did rise up against thier masters on many occasions during the civil war, they ran to the north for sanctuary, and many joined the army to help the fight. this aside from all the smaller rises that popped up on plantations all through the south during that time where slaves visciously killed thier masters. that indeed did happen. I don;t knwo where you get the part about Native americans from, it's still talking about the remnants of the slaves, and look how much more hate there is even today from people who are black against those who are white. The Saints rebuilt the temple in Navoo, so yes, that prophesy has come to pass, we will own that land and that building forever and ever, the LDS church is not going anywhere. In fact experts say that the LDS church will reach over 260 Million worldwide by 2080. I just hope that you are actually interested in learning, rather than trying to "prove the church wrong." If so, great, i hope i can help you out. if you want reassurance, don;t look for it on a forum, Read the book of mormon, and honestly pray and Ask for guidance, and ask heavenly Father, in the name of Jesus Christ what is indeed true. and you will find it.
  5. the way you presented your turmoil in your earlier post seemed to be something ti apparently wasn't and i apologize for that. my uncle had a hard time getting used to wearing garments because he spent alot of time in cut-offs and sleeveless shirts, (this was the 70's) there are "one piece" styles that migth make you feel more comfortable because there is no waistband. I'm sorry if your body type doesn't work for the available sizes of garments, you might possibly talk to your bishop or stake president about what is possible to do about it. As for protection, there are many stories where things have horribly happened, like explosions and fires where the member who was wearing thier garments were not burned at all where thier garments were protecting them. As for "sexuality" that should be kept to the bedroom, and you do not have to wear them during those times. you shouldn't be going outside to feel "sexy." you don't even HAVE to wear them around your house if you want, it is personal preferrence. As for your personal experience, it's a shame that you feel so horribly about them, theya re designed with our protection in mind, not our comfort or our "sexuality." I would pray and talk with your bishop, if they are truely uncomfortable and impossble for you to wear properly because of a valid reason, then possibly a compromise could be made? I don't know really but it's worth a shot... Just remember the covenants in the temple and keep that in mind, do the blessings that come far outieght having to put up with a little discomfort? or are you unwilling to suffer with it just a little longer and endure to the end?
  6. hahahaha so true, my mom taught me how to cook, but i cook liek a redneck. i think i found the only filipina in the world (my wife) who doesn't know how to cook. oh and yes, i apologize for not mentioning the EQ and HPG meetins as well, they too need room to move around
  7. We do not baptise, for the dead or living, any children or infants. Only those who died after the age of 8 (the age of accountability) do we perform services by proxy for. All children who die as infants are saved in the celestial kingdom by default. We don't know why they die or why they only needed to be on the earth for a short amount fo time. Those children who died will be resurrected as children and be raised to maturity during the millenium.
  8. Indeed, Nephi did say that he is doing what he feels he is inspired to do, but if he is wrong he excuses himself according to his own flesh, not because of what the other prophets have writen down. which he even says "as did they err of old."Yes, we believe they are divinely inspired. And yes, they are always certain about thier revelations, just as I am certain about thier revelations, as wella s my own personal revelations regarding my life and the life of my family. because I have prayed about these things, with a desire to know for a surety what the truth is. There is Moroni's promise also in the Book of Mormon Moroni 10:3-5 3 Behold, I would exhort you that when ye shall read these things, if it be wisdom in God that ye should read them, that ye would remember how merciful the Lord hath been unto the children of men, from the creation of Adam even down until the time that ye shall receive these things, and ponder it in your hearts. 4 And when ye shall receive these things, I would exhort you that ye would ask God, the Eternal Father, in the name of Christ, if these things are not true; and if ye shall ask with a sincere heart, with real intent, having faith in Christ, he will manifest the truth of it unto you, by the power of the Holy Ghost. 5 And by the power of the Holy Ghost ye may know the truth of all things. Everything that comes from the tounge of man, is possibly Falliable, We are told to pray for ourselves to find out what is true on our own, to "not trust in the arm of the flesh" It is by the power of the Holy Ghost that we may know the truth of all things. We are to put our trust in the Lord with a sdesire to know what is true and right. and we must ask, we cannot expect things to be just given to us, we must search and pray for ourselves with a desire to know the truth, only then will we find it.
  9. I apologize for the confusion. one of our articles of faith says "We believe the Bible to be the word of God, as far as it is translated correctly. We also believe the Book of Mormon to be the word of God." The bible is the word of God, but mankind and thier meddling has changed things, and changed words, and meanings of words, misused them in wrong context and such to create what we now know as the bible. We are told as LDS member to search the scriptures dilligently with prayer and have the holy Spirit guide our reading and allow us to interpit these things correctly. In the book of Mormon, Nephi states: all scripture is writtn by man (falliable) and should be carefully scrutinized with prayer and possibly fasting, also with a true desire to know, so that the holy spirit may testify to you the truth of all things. The Bible is a testament of Jesus Christ and the eternal plan of salvation for all mankind, It's words are inspired by God, that is why we use it.
  10. man, can i come to your ward? every LDS girl i have known was cute and nice, untill they get married, then they blow up like a baloon.... every ward i have been in, the relief society had to spread the chairs out a little bit for them to all have room to sit.... hehe, I'm not worried, i married out of the church, a wonderful and fit fillipina woman. it's just an observation i made.
  11. the Bible is Falliable, it has been translated and re-written numerous times over the course of the millenia. there are bound to be mistakes and errors. as we know, the KJV of the bible is the most correct of all the current translations of the bible. (aside from the inspired version, which i cannot wait to read the whole thing but it's still $100 from Deseret Book). there are more Gods than you can imagine, but it doesn't matter or pertain to our salvation on this earth. We submit and are subject to only One God, our Heavenly Father who has a specicif name, but out of respect i will not put his name out here on a forum. most members of the chearch have heard his name and know it so that should suffice. If we meet all the requirements to pass by the Sentinel angels guarding the celestial kingdom after our resurrection and judgement, we will be crowned with the same glory that our Heavenly Father has and have "his name upon [our] foreheads forever and ever". We are not the first "mankind" to be created by our heavenly father, and won't be the last. and the same his brothers and sisters in the heavens who have obtained the same glory.thier works are everlasting.
  12. thanks for adding those quotes Gaia, i thought about doing a little reasearch but i am at work so my time is limited.
  13. Why are alot of Married LDS women severly Obese then?
  14. When something is brought to our attention from the mouths of those who are in authority to speak in god's name, we are to ponder it and pray and ask for guidence in knowinf if such things are true, and if they are true then we will know. President Brigham Young chastized his congregations because they would believe anything he said without finding out the truth fir themselves. As memebrs of the LDS church we are Exhorted to search and study the scriptures ourselves to find knowledge and truth. Each one of our members is to have the same knowledge of the gospel as the apostles are to have. When gordon B Hinckley speaks, his words are as scripture to me, the words of men and prophets ARE FALLIABLE. We are to be mindful of this and pray to recieve the truth of all things by the power of the Holy Ghost, which is a gift given to us at baptism (baptism by fire).
  15. I appreciate your concern, and if it came out of the mouths of our general authorities, (and more than one) then that is all i need to pray about. And yes, I have. I appreciate your thoughts, but I say what i know because It is revealed through the mouths of true prophets and testified to me by the holy spirit of Truth.
  16. ONLY Man and Woman together become Gods in the Celestial kingdom. they must be sealed for Time and all eternity to partake of the inheritance of the Kingdom of God. Yes, we do in fact have a heavenly mother, just as we have a heavenly father. The Simple fact is respect. Our Heavenly Father did not mention her in scripture and we do not pray to her because of Respect. He repsects her so much he would rather see his name used in vain, then to have her name be known to all and have her name be defiled on earth. In essence, we already to pray to our heavenly parents, through Jesus Christ to our Father directly. and because of the Patriarchial family unit, Heavenly Father is the Head of his family. He leads the family and takes the brunt of all disrepect for his wife, he will not allow anyone to defile his wife's 9our mother's) good name. The Father of a family is the leader, he is to lead in righteousness along side his wife, theya re equal to eachother with no inferiority or defficiency. They are to work together as one unit to take care of and teach thier children in righteousness. I'm very sure our heavenly father has counciled and continues to council with his wife before making decisions. People take the Lord's name in vain all the time, it is commonplace in the world now. I know i want my wife to be protected completely and shielded from all form of disrepect and/or abuse, she is the most important thing to me.
  17. It's about Humbling yourself, the latest "fashions" are not modest. there are plenty of comfortable and decent clothes that are not "old fashioned" that are modest and presentable and even professional. Just cause you can't wear tank-tops and cut-off shorts anymore is no reason to be upset. The protection from those garments is incomparable to the loss of being able to wear the "latest fashions" When you wear the garments you are not supposed to "tuck" or "roll" them to accomodate certain styles of clothing, they are to be worn properly at all times and properly covered when you are outside of the home. It is acceptable to not wear your garments when you are doing physical activites such as playing sports or working out at the gym. all other occasions they should be worn properly. When you wear the garments properly, at first they may be a little uncomfortable at first but you will get used to them, and you knwo you are dressed properly and modestly if your garments are properly covered by your style of clothing at all times. The garments we wear here are not going with us when we die, they are to help protect us in our mortality. Also I have been told you should not wear your garments unworthily, jsut liek partakign the sacrament. Garments also serve as a constant reminder to do what is right. to remind us to always walk uprightly before the lord.
  18. I believe it was a Quote by Bruce R. McConkie, but one of the apostles gave a talk about how Michael, The Arch Angel, Gathered all the animals from other planets and placed them on the earth. I think this concept may be radical, but all together doesn't seem impossible, God and Christ created them and Adam was told to name them according to the KJV of the Bible, which we know has flaws. I read it in the book "The Plan of Salvation: Understanding our Divine Origin and Destiny, By Matthew B. Brown" It's full of awesome information pulled together form the 4 standard works, and also from the journal of Discourses, and other speeches given by prophets, and apostles.
  19. The prophets and the General Authorities, Are provided for by the Church's own investments. theya re provided a "Modest Living Allowance" becauset they realize the duties of the general authorites is a full time job, 24/7. Some are retired and have thier own investments and living, but for those who can't support themselves. the church provides for them, It's not a salary by any means, thier neccesities are taken care of and they have a roof over thier head, they do not get extravagant outfits or fancy cars. The money does not come out of tithes either. All Clergy in the chruch is unpaid, they are not professionals, they did not go to school to become a clergy member. and theya re not exalted above us, they have authority to take care of church functions, but they are men and women just like you and me. And in no way do i want to be an apostle or prophet, that responsibility is way over me. they must have alot going on and so much on thier plate.
  20. Men recieving the Priesthood is brining them up to the same level as women naturally are. Motherhood is inherent to all women nomatter what. this is an extremely important gift, because without it there would be no body for spirits who are patiently waiting for thier turn to recieve one. This is just as important to the eternal plan of happiness that the Priesthood is. women who are married to a worthy Priesthood holder have access to all of the blessings the Priesthood has to offer. Men and women's roles are naturally different. Men are designed to do different things than women. Women and Men's roles should be different, but they should complement eachother. This is in no way bigotry or sexism, this does not allow for "Inequality" either. If two peopel are happily married, they will do things for eachother because they like to do nice things for the one they love. It's that simple. My wife stays home and takes care of the house, I work and make the money. It works out great because we both liek takign care of eachother and we are both very appreciative for eachother. the only way women will ever hold the priesthood is by a very big revelation. But I know it will not happen that way. all throughout time, Men are to protect thier families, they are the head of the household, but they are to lead in Righteousness and not Unrighteous dominion. LDS women are prompted to listen to thier husbands and support them in thier decisions as long as they are in harmony with Church principals and with respect. Men are propmted to alwasy consult with thier wives, they are to be thier confidant and coucil.
  21. LDS members should be putting thier moral and modest standards before all else, this is on par with looking at Maxim or other provocative material, It provokes thoughts that cause people to swell on things and is that "little toe" the adversary gets in the door on your mind. If you can justify to yourself, there's nothing wrong with looking at it, then there's nothing wrong with buying it, then there's nothign wrong with hanging it up. I certainly hope they don't come out with a Sister Missionary calendar (even though i know they will) because our young LDS women already have a "bad rap" in the eyes of the world for being "repressed" and "rebellious" LDS members are to be in the world and not of the world. "being normal people"... horrible. "The natural nan is an enemy to god" we are to cast away our selfish and carnal desires if we are to rise above it.
  22. When you honestly feel bad for something that you have done and you feel you need to ask forgiveness for it. you should. One of the greatest gifts of the human mind is the ability to reason and rationalize, But these are also dangerous tools in Satan's hand. You ran rationalize yourself to do just about anything you want to. It's a gift given to us so that we may be able to cope and overcome weaknesses. Not to be used to create weaknesses. Learning to overcome sins and transgressions, means never lookign back. you do something wrong, you recognize it, try to fix it apologize and ask forgiveness. then you resolve never to do it again. and once that is complete, never look back on it, forgive and forget means you also forgetting once forgiveness has been assured.
  23. I'ts unfortunate that you see that. members of the church tend to be very "clicky" with thier beliefs and tend to alienate those around them who are not LDS. This is not a good site to see. It is hard as LDS members to be open minded enough to discuss things with peopel of other faiths and religions. I was critical of LDS members when i went inactive in the church, I wasn't Anti-mormon at all, but i just alienated myself from the church. Anti-Mormon people tend to be destructive with thier speech, they twist thigns and pervert words in thier mind and do everything they can to prove the LDS Church wrong. Every religion has shortcomings, this is the weakness of flesh. i wouldn't point out the weaknesses of a religion without pointing out the weaknesses of my own. Improving things is always good, definitely.
  24. Hello everyone, I thought I might take a minute to introduce myself. I've been an LDS member all of my life, but i went inactive when i was 17, and just recently started going back to church, It has been the best time of my life so far. I'm married to a wonderful woman, who isn't LDS (she's catholic) but she is investigating, and already told me she wants our kids when we have them to be raised in the church. She's been extrmely supportive of me going back to church and getting my life straightened out. I was on a general religious forum but there is so much sladering and debating, which i thought would be fun, but it's really not. I wish to delve myself back into complete activity in the church, I miss it, I have no idea why I was gone for so long. but i'm glad to be back. Anyways i hope this place is as good as it looked from the outside! -MH
