Believe me when I say that I totally understand that a business background does not qualify one to give lessons or doctrinal dissertations. But putting together a list is part and parcel of virtually every self-improvement program I've ever read or heard of. You two seem to talk about it a if it is a bad thing. I was in a zone conference asking for help in how to talk to people. The primary feedback was,"You open your mouth and put words into it. Duh-uh." I asked "what words?" One smart aleck responded,"Oh, don't worry. He just wants to be commanded in all things." I was seriously considering going home from my mission because of this. I could have left the church. He didn't realize just how socially awkward I was. He thought I was being lazy and stupid. He also didn't realize just how sincere and earnest I was. So, even if we assume I was lazy and stupid, wouldn't that mean that I need to figure out how to be more hard working and intelligent? For someone who simply had no clue how to be socially engaging with complete strangers in a very stressful and awkward position, a "to do list" would have been extremely helpful. But no one offered me one. As a result, it was about 5 more years before I found a to do list that cured my inability to speak to people. And it was just in time to meet my wife. Now, how much more could I have done on my mission to bring souls to Christ if someone had actually given me a to do list to overcome my awkwardness? If you're so against lists, consider that people who REALLY don't know how to do something, NEED lists. I also have the story of my learning to read. But I'll save that for another day.

For a man (meaning me) who might consider taking a bath in kim chee to be the ultimate "deep-fried twinkie" the figure of speech "deep kim chee" is lost on me.

OK. So far all I've been able to verify is that one of the J6 defendants has legal representation. The lawyer has issued a request for mistrial and dismissal of all charges because prosecution deliberately withheld exculpatory evidence. That is where this came from. While I'd say that the shaman video alone would satisfy the requirements, we'll see how it plays out in courts.

LOL! While his procedure works for cucumber pickles, kim chee and sour kraut use a different process.

SVB gave over $70 MM to BLM https://dc.claremont.org/blm-funding-database/ They were also the go-to bank for ESG projects. They supplied funding for over 60% of the community solar projects in the country last year. They also invested heavily in Crypto and took a LOT of risks that banks simply shouldn't have. HOWEVER, all that means is that SVB was simply more vulnerable. They've become the canary in the coal mine. The underlying problem is that we've spent more in the Trump era than all the rest of the country's history combined. And Biden is on track to exceed Trump. The biggest one-time shift was the COVID package. And we began seeing inflation effects right on schedule -- about two years after the bill was passed and checks started being cut. And it just got bigger from there. So, we're going to continue to see inflation for the next while because the Dems, and quite a few of the Repubs don't seem to care about deficit spending. Well, it has come home to roost. Now the Fed is raising interest rates. That causes the smaller yield bonds that most banks are invested in to become unsellable. This wouldn't be a problem if people didn't withdraw money. But they did because of the instability. The instability happened because of ESG and DEI. Other banks are also vulnerable because of this same underlying weakness. But as long as the customers do not make huge withdrawals, then there isn't a problem (for now). As inflation goes higher and higher, then people will be forced to withdraw from their banks. Many banks that have also made riskier investments will find that they don't have the funds because the market is crashing. That's a long-winded way of saying "The economy is toast." BTW, it is global now. So, my prediction still stands. We're going to see some ups and downs for a few months. But then we're going to see a slide for the next year or two before we hit rock bottom. If you can work the ups and downs at the beginning, then you might be able to save enough to get through the next couple of years. Pray for all of us. It will be a doozy. It will be like the 70s all combined into a couple of years. After that, we can only hope for a recovery. The alternative is not just a longer recession/depression. It is the end of our economy as we know it. And there's no indication what will take its place. We would be in uncharted territory by that point.

First step, do you understand the method of pickling?

I'd be interested in hearing how your efforts pay off.

I wouldn't be too sure.

After Jersey Boy's post, I've realized that the world is not ready for my musings on the topic.

As I've been reading more on the site (Tell Me Best) I've come to understand that their journalists are not monolithic. I've noticed that while many are fairly neutral, and I believe only a few are "activist journalists" the site tends to have journalists from across the spectrum. This is an admirable trait if it is applied correctly. If they are only randomly assigning stories to individual journalists, the level of bias is random. But if they take care to assign a far right and far left journalist to a topic, we get to hear both sides of the story. Even if they are biased, we at least get to hear both sides. And that is really all I want -- both sides. In the meantime, I have realized that The Hill is fairly centrist. I had been going back and forth on whether they were left or right -leaning because I agreed and disagreed with so many articles. But then it occurred to me that they were being fairly consistent in the middle. But I was being biased a whole lot more than they were. So, I'm adjusting myself a bit.

Uummm... Let's say you mean "Free The World." Yeah, that's what you meant. Yeah, yeah, that's the ticket.

It benefits them because those who live according to capitalistic principles are the ones who support the economy and we actually believe it supporting the Constitution which actually gives them rights with which to beat us with. It benefits us because... uhmmm... well... you see... just because... obviously.

Bank News in brief: Biden has said there is nothing to worry about. Everything is fine. The "Bank Failure" contagion has been contained. Biden blamed the lack of oversight due to the roll-back under Trump. And that condition has not been changed But the problem is fixed. The official word is that they were too risky in their investments into crypto & commodities. Crypto collapsed. No idea which commodities we're talking about. Conservatives are saying that they are failing because they're investing based on ESG principles rather than sound economic principles. (SVB had an "A" rating for ESG).

https://www.salon.com/2023/03/07/h5n1-explainer/ A while ago, we came across H5N1 which was an avian flu that affected our poultry population and costs. Recently, the government has mandated entire flocks/factory farms to kill their entire bird population because of one "suspected" case. In the past, they were wondering how people would be affected if the disease mutated to be able to infect humans. Today, they are saying that we now have a human version/mutation with a 50% mortality rate among humans. (This is based on fewer than 1000 known human cases to date). This has the potential to be the thing that kills half the population. But the WHO and the CDC has lost all credibility. So, when they raise an alarm like this (which may very well be true) how are we supposed to believe them? How are we supposed to trust that we should rationally/logically give up our rights, our living, our social existence because "they said so"? If they had only handled COVID more honestly, rationally, and accurately, then their credibility would be such that this 50% alarm would be taken seriously. But with their track record, we have a population that is ready to just blow it off and possibly allow this virus to kill 50% of our population. I don't blame that result on "stupid conservatives" who refuse to listen to experts. I blame it on unelected bureaucrats who have cried wolf in the biggest most public manner that their (possibly valid) alarm will fall on deaf ears.

The fact is that most people aren't affected by fractional reserve requirements. Those who live paycheck to paycheck will always have that one month or bi-weekly money available to them. It is the more wealthy and/or more thrifty individuals who actually have 3 to 6 months of savings in the bank that are affected.

Again, my MIL's words are becoming ever more prophetic. https://vtdigger.org/2023/03/13/vermont-religious-school-that-refused-to-play-team-with-trans-player-banned-from-sporting-events/ A Christian K-12 school is now expelled from competing in the league with other high schools because the girls' volleyball team decided to forfeit a match against a school with a trans (biological male) athlete. They figured they'd just finish the year in whatever place they wound up if they didn't play against that particular team. Instead, they were completely expelled from further competition. Instead of lawsuits like the liberals do, the conservative tactic has usually been a Biblical one: Turn the other cheek (in the gentler sense, not the defiant sense). I'd suggest a different approach. Private schools like Christian schools ought to make their own leagues. They would form alliances with other schools with similar values. Everyone is happy. It would take some time for trans students to make their way in to tear that down as well. The inevitable result, however, of separate leagues is that we're furthering the divide between right & left. The national divorce is the final destination. But none of us know what that would look like. We have the Roman Empire as a model. But the rights enshrined in the Constitution indicate that there is more at stake here than just different borders and different politicians.

I find this take rather interesting considering the backdrop of me getting further into my Korean language studies. Culture has changed in Korea since I was a kid. But there are still vestiges of the old order in the society. One of the interesting linguistic quirks is the common usage of the term "elder brother" as opposed to simply "brother' who happens to be older than I am. In Korean society there was definitely a societal pecking order that everyone understands. And one of those things is that elders are our superiors. They are expected to receive their due reverence. This custom has largely gone away in recent years. But older people still expect this, some of the youth still abide by it especially with elders that they respect. The term for older brother is not simply "brother" (hiongje) with an adjective of "older" added to it. It is a completely different word (oba). However, both words translate into English as "brother". It may sound like we're saying "Big Buddy" in English. But in other cultures, it is certainly a token of respect and even "fear" in the Biblical sense. It is a much higher honorific than it is in English (that is to say: in English, it doesn't mean anything other than a chronology). In other cultures (including our own in past generations -- and even today for some families) being the eldest means that he is the heir apparent. None of the other siblings has that claim. And they are beholden to that elder brother. Another interesting find is the Korean word for "God." The word "Hananim" is literally "The Honorable One." The base word is "hana" which means "one". The terminating particle is "nim" which is the honorific. In a religious context, we could translate it as "The Holy One." Funny that the term for "Holy Ghost" uses a completely different term. Still trying to figure it out.

UPDATE: I can't make sense of the third-hand information I'm receiving. Marcel has been released from the hospital. Apparently the doctors said that he has recovered to the point he can be released. I'm told this happened a few days ago. I asked if he got the heart he'd been waiting for. No, he did not. Did they do some sort of operation to help him along until he got a heart? Don't know. What happened to make his heart heal to the point where he was able to be released? Don't know. While I'd like to believe this is a miracle because of all the prayers said on his behalf, I'm concerned that the hospital administrators simply made a commercial/business decision rather than a humanitarian one. i.e. They could not keep a patient with extreme needs like his, with such a low chance of survival in the hospital any longer. No further information at this time.

It just occurred to me that this may have been what was used in a video we're all familiar with. The "Biden doesn't blink" address https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Y-y3RS2Ihxc There is something awfully weird about his facial muscles. And the voice doesn't really match his physicality. The lungs don't inflate and deflate in accordance with his speech. Is it possible that this was a deepfake?

Seriously?!?! And some people wonder why we avoid talking about this subject.

I think that my misinterpretation of your earlier post was much more entertaining.

As I said, I have my own take on it. It satisfies scripture. It satisfies the matter-of-fact statement that McConkie made, while rejecting what your mother said. And it ties up several doctrinal problems with your Mom's take vis-à-vis sealing. But no one seems to like my take.

I've heard of it. But I don't buy into it. I've offered my take years ago. But not too many people seem to accept it.
