  1. I dunno, I might trust the validity of a story more or less based on who chooses to report it. Don't know what length the Church News would go to in checking out a story like this, but I'm pretty sure they wouldn't report something when there's a likelihood that someone could pop up with viable information that could discredit the story. (I should be saying this to LM instead of you Wing, huh?)
  2. Hey Loudmouth, is this a source you might trust? :) LDS Church News - Report on earthquake from Chile Santiago East Mission
  3. Mormon missionaries from Sonoma County deal with quake in Chile | | PressDemocrat.com These are two elders from my hometown. They're not in the same mission as the president and his wife in the original article but interesting to hear their own descriptions of what's going on. I used to babysit the elder pictured on the right and my little sister's best friend is/was? (lol) dating the elder on the left (she's now on her own mission in Honduras).
  4. This is where I read it: Chile Earthquake Altered Earth Axis, Shortened Day
  5. That's what I thought too LM, but I'm happy to see the names, dates, places, and pictures. These are the kinds of stories to pass on - with the backup... Correct - Church Response to Haiti Earthquake - LDS Newsroom

  7. Just because it's your birthday doesn't mean the brownies are ok! Happy Birthday PC!
  8. Tsunami warnings all throughout the Pacific. Just read that waves hit French Polynesia but didn't do much. I'm hoping this is the same for the rest of the Pacific Islands. My sister is in the Marshall Islands. Haven't heard from her yet, but don't expect a need to worry there.
  9. Happy Birthday Pale!
  10. I can understand why this is troubling you. I don't claim to be an LDS scholar. I don't even usually enjoy getting into lengthy discussions about hotbed gospel topics, but I thought I'd just share what came to mind when I read your post, and hope that others will be able to shed more light with their understanding. Christ chose when he stepped forward and said, "Here I am. Send me." His view of the eternities, even while here in mortality wasn't veiled. He chose his mission. The more of my life I live, the more I have come to believe that this life is all about self mastery. I think that we will always have our agency, but it will be those who choose to live with God that ultimately will. I really hope that you find an answer to what's troubling you, even if it's simply peaceful reassurance from our Heavenly Father. I know that I haven't always found answers, but when I seek, I've always found peace.
  11. Carolyn Hax - TELL ME ABOUT IT - washingtonpost.com This is an article that I sure needed, even though I knew everything in it before I read it. Though I'm working now, when I was exclusively at home th my son, I was never able to explain what it was I did all day. I just knew that I was exhausted with not a whole lot to show my husband for it and dying for time to just be ME! It was a really big contributor to the collapse of our marriage. There aren't usually huge highlights to most days as a SAHM, but all the little things add up to being something bigger than huge! Suddenly I'm feeling what I can only describe as retroactive validation. Now, I know that some people who are likely to make anything they do sound like it's the hardest job in the world, and I hope I'm not like that, but I'm REALLY fighting the urge to forward this article to my ex in hopes that it'll help him be a little more understanding in future relationships.
  12. As far as they are translated correctly....
  13. HAHAHA Googlemeister you rock!
  14. Close enough, right? "It was the best of times... it was the worst of times..."

    Hi

    That's awesome! Congratulations and welcome!
  16. I'm not so sure. I've heard of instances where there were things that needed to be known about the past. Otherwise, would someone who had committed murder be able to answer the questions pertaining to the present, and be ready to take on the covenants associated with baptism? I know it's an extreme example when compared to pre-marital sex, but better to know for certain that things were handled in the proper way. If your friend has a question, I'd say they should pose this question to the missionaries they are working with. If they still don't know by the time they get to the interview, have them ask whoever is conducting the interview. They don't even need to go into details with their situation immediately to ask how they should be answering the questions - pertaining to the past and/or present.
  17. So throw a house party and invite everyone you hate!
  18. The Call - Regina Spektor This the one you're referring to?
  19. No imaginary friends here, although I did daydream a lot. My little sister had one she called Seeker, but we never knew what he looked like. She used to decorate her highchair with yarn and tell us it was because it was Seeker's birthday, at least once a week.
  20. Brother Hicks (the man who arranged this piece) is a friend/acquaintance of mind and I asked him if sheet music with the words in any languages besides English was available. He said, "Unfortunately it is only currently in English, though I may be getting it done in Spanish sometime." But with the way it's caught on world wide, who knows. I hope you've been able to find the lyrics. As Dravin said, you can piece it together with the two hymns and the Young Women's theme, or maybe you could send a message to the person who posted it on youtube.
  21. Hey, I wax! Wait. Oh yeah that one. Wuss!
  22. Bring it. But if I go, I'm taking the poll creator down with me for giving me the option!
  23. It's not so much that I don't like it at all, but only in small doses and I've never craved it. I guess I'm just "meh" about chocolate. Sorry I'm not as sweet a person as I'm sure you all believe! Deal with it!
