  1. That's awesome. I love reading about enduring love. :) Yedi, please praise anyone you want to here.
  2. If Christ were married and it was contained in scripture, do you think people would start worshipping His wife?
  3. Hi! It's good to see you! I hope you like it here.
  4. I didn't know that! Mr. MorningStar wants to try it now. How big does it puff up? Can you make a caramel version like you can with popcorn?
  5. That is fascinating how you learned to do that! I learned to read by following hymns at church. I loved music so much, I really wanted to know the words and I started to read them by recognition. :)
  6. Hahahaha!!!! That reminds me of my nephew in a lot of ways. I know it's extremely difficult for you, but it brings back some fond (and not so fond) memories of my nephew. I am so sorry you have to go through this alone. What resources do you have available to you? In our state, the Department of Disability pays for someone to take care of him a certain number of hours per week so the parents can get a break. They also paid for his Pull-Ups for as long as he needed them. How old is your son now? I used to take care of my nephew and we had quite a few poo issues. RIP Monopoly board. Hey, we should have a whole thread about Autism. I know there are others out there also struggling with this. My sister-in-law has become an expert on it and went back to school for Special Education. She does private consulting now and she wrote a book too. :) She also works in a class full of Autistic children. It has been a trial for her being the mom of an Autistic child, but it has become her passion and she seems to enjoy the challenge of figuring out how to deal with him best. I remember the days when it just plain drove her nuts, but wow has she grown! She is an amazing woman.
  7. That is so cool! I love learning about people's different talents in the church. I can hardly do a regular braid. Maybe that's why I have all boys? My friends used to french braid my hair and it was hard for them because my hair is really thick.
  8. My nephew has Autism. He's difficult, but he's also amazing because he's a reading and math prodigy. :) How old was your son when he was diagnosed?
  9. YAY!!!! I'm glad you made it here!
  10. We bought a water purifier so we don't have to store as much water. That way we'll just head down to the river and get us a duck while we're at it.
  11. I've decided I'm only going to store lots of wheat when I have a grinder. I'm just not into throwing plain wheat into a recipe. I'd rather make bread. The bonus of wheat is that it lasts for so long. I was surprised too to learn about how long honey lasts. When I am told to rotate my food storage, I get a little frustrated because I can't afford it in the first place and I would just like to buy a lot of stuff that last a long time then start rotating it when we're in the position to do so.
  12. This is a topic that comes up in my ward very frequently - reverence. We have a lot of babies and toddlers and it is frequently difficult to hear the speakers and sometimes people don't take their crying kids out until they have reached siren level. The other distracting thing is the kids banging on the metal chairs in the overflow. What are your strategies for encouraging reverence with your kids and in your ward?
  13. That would be so hard. I can't imagine being treated that way by my family and friends. So how do you feel about hot chocolate? My son came home one day with a recipe called "Snowman soup" and told me, "It warms your spirit." There was a packet of hot chocolate, two Hershey kisses, and a peppermint candy that you mix together. It was really good and so cute how he couldn't wait to give it to me after school.
  14. I know converts make many sacrifices when they join the church, everything from giving up coffee to being under the condemnation of family and friends. Having grown up as a member of the church, I am grateful that I didn't have to face a difficulty like this or make any sudden changes. When my mom joined the church, she was disowned by her grandmother, one of the few dependable adult relatives she had left. That hurt her a lot. She also received a lot of insensitive comments from her sister who mocked her for her beliefs. Fortunately for her, she didn't have the added difficulty of giving up coffee, drinking alcohol, etc. I think what a challenge that would be and how would I handle it if I had to give up chocolate, ice cream, or cheese for my beliefs. Those are a few of my favorites. I'd love to hear about your struggles in these areas when you joined the church and I am even considering giving up something for a significant period of time to identify with you better. Yediyd, I see how you really miss your coffee! :) MorningStar
  15. I'm happy with XP, but I've seen a Vista slideshow and I like how you can make the pictures zoom in and out. Other than that, I don't know of any reason to switch. I live in Microsoft territory though and wouldn't be surprised if I landed one for cheap (they get awesome discounts and sometimes friends offer us a deal). But I'll probably do my usual thing - Get used to the old version until the new one works out its kinks, just in time for something else to come out. That's what we did with the Xbox. I was so excited to finally buy my husband an Xbox and immediately afterwards they announced the 360. Darn! Now we have the lesser Xbox. That's allright. It works just dandy for us. :)
  16. I believe Jesus was married. I've always wondered why the idea would bother anyone.
  17. Have you tried aversion therapy? I think I would know how you feel if I had to give up chocolate, but luckily that's never been required of me.
  18. Welcome, Iggy! I live in the Pacific Northwest and I grew up here. It's good to have you here! How did you manage to get used to the Arizona heat? :) MorningStar
  19. Hello Bunnzy! It's good to meet you! I hope you will find a lot of answers and support here. Welcome! :) MorningStar
  20. Sure is! Having had so many health problems, I look forward to Christ's return and to feeling good.
  21. That sounds wonderful. It is my dream to go on a mini vacation with Mr. MorningStar for our anniversary, but when it rolls around, we just can't afford it. I would love to come down there and enjoy the beach!
  22. Of course I remember you! So what do we want for our birthdays this year? Do you think 33 will be a better year for us? Man I hope so. This last year + has been a real suckfest. Toll! Deine Grossmutter ist eine Deutscherin? I have forgotten a lot of words since I never get to practice either. Washington doesn't tend to attract many Germans. We had a family move here from Switzerland, but they're from the French speaking part. Darn it! You're from Finland, right? My aunt served her mission there many years ago. One of my best friends was born there. Her mom is American and her dad was Finnish. Are most Finnish men stubborn as heck or was that just him? Probably just him.
  23. Welcome! I'm still trying to get used to your new username. I'm glad you're here!
  24. Hello! Good to see you!
  25. Oh man. I hope there's a meat substitute that will taste like meat. Sometimes I just crave a really good burger or steak. Chicken more than anything.
