Captain-Jack's Achievements

  1. I think it's a little of both. I think there are times when the Lord will take a soul back, but the affect of that event on those surrounding the person is the purpose of His work. However, I think our choices do have a slight alteration on the timetable of our life.
  2. I highly doubt this will result in anything other than "Well crap. They didn't do anything wrong."
  3. I hope you get through it without much more heartache, mutant. I know that the particular situation you are in is extremely difficult, and as a young man, I know that cutting off your support of her lifestyle is the best. It is possible to support yourself and go to school, if I didn't have a wife and child, it would be much easier, but I manager to work full time, go to school half time, pay my way through with grants and my own money, while still not forcing my wife to work. She has elected to stay at home with the baby, and we get by without much trouble. It can be done, and hopefully her wayward days will be short lived.
  4. I am the same, I don't usually get hit, but my wife knows when I get hit with something nasty because I'm down for more than a day. Most times when colds/flus go around in our little family, I'm back on my feet by that evening. Which she hates because they'll keep our out for a day or two, sometimes longer.
  5. Either Jack Sparrow or Jack Skellington. When my diet was limited (physical health problems, getting over them now), it was Jack Skellington for sure. When I would breathe in normally, half of my ribs would show and I looked rather lanky. Life as computer IT support has kept me inside so I matched in color as well. Now, I think it's the Captain for sure.
  6. When I was a young child living in east Texas, many people had thicker accents that caused me to think they said "bury" their testimony. I never really understood why they would bury their testimony, and even tried to make a joke of it when I first moved to Utah, but no one understood. I didn't realize until years later why I found it so funny, but no one else did.
  7. Hamburgers are great, just need to be taken in moderation. I do agree that there is a line that is crossed when someone much older wants to be with someone much younger. However, in the U.S. you legally become an adult at 18. Why is that, because physically that is when most have mature bodies? You're counted as an adult but you can't drink or smoke, but you can run around from bed to bed and get STD's? I sometimes wonder about our laws here, some just don't seem to make sense. If someone 25-30+ years old wants a 15 year old, yes, something is wrong. But also laws distort perceptions in my opinion. I still believe based on what news has been reported that there were horrid things being done to unwilling young women, however, because reality is all relative, to some it's worse and others not. Some people are OK with it, and that includes some women. If a man wants lots of wives, and it is believed to be sick and twisted, we must then apply the same to women who would want many husbands. I am not saying it happens a lot, but I am sure there is someone somewhere that is like that. I am not sure if they slept with all their wives at the same time, but I have to say this, with so many people being open with sexuality and sleeping with different people, but then get upset with polygamy just seems rather redundant to me. We let people who sleep with multiple partners slide with just a scoff, but polygamy is horrible. That I think is where the separation needs to be. Any time of non-platonic relationship with someone clearly vulnerable is just plain wrong. But if they are all consenting adults, then really we have to stop everyone everywhere from having any premarital relations otherwise we'll all hypocrites to a degree. Again, I agree with you that it is wrong to do anything with someone underage when the older person is well over 30, but laws and perceptions are so maligned to me it's tough to really judge further than that.
  8. I'll throw in a story from my youth. I, being quite the geek/nerd, loved our nintendo. When I was about 5 or 6, I'd wake up early, around 5:30 am, just to play Super Mario Brothers. I remember one Christmas I got a new video game, Super Metroid, and I wanted to make sure that the nintendo would keep working for the 12+ hours a day it was running between me and my brothers. So in a prayer I asked that the nintendo would be blessed to keep working. I think it lasted another 5 years or so. Go figure.
  9. Elgama, Thank you for posting this, before I thought I'd try to get up a few times ever night to help my wife when our first child comes, but now seeing how hard it can be on some, and knowing how hard my wife's pregnancy has been. I'll make sure I get up a few times every night to help.
  10. I've heard similar blessings given, but how alike are you and your brother? I've never read anyone else's blessing except my wife's, though ours are starkly different, so is my wife and I. I wouldn't be surprised at all if my brother or sister's blessings were like mine, but I also would remember how I felt during the blessing, what is on paper is only words, when you were there, I'm sure you felt the spirit. That cannot be the same from one to the next, and no one else can have claim to that.
  11. Render therefore unto Caesar the things which are Caesar’s; and unto God the things that are God’s.?
  12. If you would like, post what internet browser are you are using and what pop up blocker software you may have and I can see if I can write out step by step instructions. Or you can pm me with a day and time and I'll see what I can do to be on and we'll set up some messenger thing to walk you through it
  13. I was in K-Mart in Orem yesterday and was delighted at the fact that there wasn't one bit of garbage near the registers.
  14. Found this scripture last night, and how true it rang to me, it's exactly how I feel to those people I know personally who think they have plenty of time to repent later. It also applies to those who have no regard for what is sacred and holy.Helaman 13 29 O ye wicked and ye perverse generation; ye hardened and ye stiffnecked people, how long will ye suppose that the Lord will suffer you? Yea, how long will ye suffer yourselves to be led by foolish and blind guides? Yea, how long will ye choose darkness rather than light?
  15. While I won't label you anything but you do see to paint that picture with quite a broad stroke of the brush. Not everyone calls anyone who leaves the church "anti".
