  1. So much for the divinely inspired Constitution...I guess it's inspired, except when attending Church in Utah... UGGGGGGGGH!!! How are EVER going to EVER save the Constitution?!??
  2. You are absolutely right! Absent real money, these contrived shortages, etc., with only continue to increase until the final day when it all collapses... If we are to have economic liberty, we must have real money. We don't... Satan is SO SMART, but GOD is ALL-KNOWING...if we would just follow his plan for us...
  3. The point is that there is always an abundance, GOD says so. It is only when evil people conspire to contrive shortages (other than short-term regional drought / pest induced ones) that the abundance is not shared. What we need in this world is liberty. Tyrants starve people. Free people are almost universally able to feed themselves (absent catastrophe like in Burma right now)... There is no such thing as "over population" on Earth (other than an over population of tyrants)... Remember, Master Mahan (Cain, et al) and his followers seek to murder and get gain. They do this by war, famine, and economic turmoil. For the most part, mass starvations have been government induced, like in Korea, China, Ethiopia, etc... Less Government, More Individual Responsibility, and with GOD's Help, a Better World...that's the answer...
  4. Any long-term shortages are the contrivance of tyrants. GOD has said that the Earth has "...enough and to spare..." (DC 104:17-18) " 17 For the earth is full, and there is enough and to spare; yea, I prepared all things, and have given unto the children of men to be agents unto themselves. 18 Therefore, if any man shall take of the abundance which I have made, and impart not his portion, according to the law of my gospel, unto the poor and the needy, he shall, with the wicked, lift up his eyes in hell, being in torment."
  5. You have got to be kidding me!!!! I don't think you can be a serious student of LDS History and not be troubled / concerned by the realities such studies present... Perhaps you mean none of the history impacts your testimony of the restoration? I feel the same way...but there is literally a plethora of stuff that is deeply troubling on an intellectual level...
  6. I believe the Church has done a terrible job in this respect. So bad, in fact, that I don't believe the Church can now ever fully instruct on the realities of our history.
  7. The Seer Stone currently resides in the First Presidency Vault in Salt Lake City...
  8. The Book of Mormon most certainly talks about horses: "22 And it came to pass in the seventeenth year, in the latter end of the year, the proclamation of Lachoneus had gone forth throughout all the face of the land, and they had taken their horses, and their chariots, and their cattle, and all their flocks, and their herds, and their grain, and all their substance, and did march forth by thousands and by tens of thousands, until they had all gone forth to the place which had been appointed that they should gather themselves together, to defend themselves against their enemies." (Book of Mormon | 3 Nephi 3:22) Just thought you'd like to know...
  9. I agree with nothing from the left. I agree with some things from the right.
  10. I want to be very clear, Joseph Smith was / is the founding Prophet of this dispensation. He really did have the first vision / receive the priesthood / translate the Book of Mormon, etc... It's just that some foundational matters were settle long before his birth. One is that GOD has always been GOD. Another is that Christ is the Savior, the only begotten of GOD...etc...We are asking for big trouble when tamper with this scriptural facts... Pres. Monson is the Prophet, and his word is gold to me, as long as it doesn't violate already established foundational premises...(and fortunately, nobody in my lifetime, or even going back a hundred years before I was born, has...) If those foundational elements of scripture can be modified by prophetic decree, then they aren't foundational at all, and I can place no real faith in what they say... It's ironic that many say that the change allowing priesthood for people of color changed a fundamental tenet of the Church, when actually, scripturally, it corrected a very large wrong in Church teaching...The scriptures (New Testament in particular) are very clear that the gospel is for all people, without restrictions... Anyways, I love the prophets and what the do for us...in them we have safety from the world's storms....
  11. Actually, very quickly. Oil is already bio-degraded... Just look at the tonnage sunk in WWII, and all the oil...no problem today... Exxon Valdez...no problem today Kuwait oil fields...no problem today I wouldn't like someone dumping oil on my lawn / property...
  12. Don't dismay. Just because many thinking people completely reject the communistic premises of today's general environmental movement, doesn't mean we have no respect for our surroundings. I believe in voluntary action. I believe it is intelligent to keep ourselves and areas clean. History has proven, for the most part, that the best means to have a good environment is through free market action. Where there are regional difficulties (such as was the case with Pittsburgh) then the local government is correct in taking corrective active at the legislative level. What we don't need is a global governance on the matter, because there simply is no global environmental problem to deal with... The filthiest nations on earth (China, etc.) are tyrannies not free markets...
  13. To attempt to punish "motive" as an additional element of crime is like trying to punish thought... I think even the Book of Mormon teaches against the punishment of thought...
  14. If I murder a gay man, and don't spray paint 'em, or do anything else other than kill 'em, how can that be a hate crime? It's just murder. If I steal a car from a person of color, aren't I just stealing a car? Motive may be used to show that a person had a reason to do something, but the motive itself isn't the crime. It's almost as if society is say, go ahead and commit crime, as long as it is against a plain old person...
  15. The Scriptures completely refute the concept of GOD becoming GOD. In fact, I cannot come up with another principle that is more clearly, with no ambiguity whatsoever, taught in scripture. GOD, the supreme being / creator, has always been as he now is. He is unchanging. He is the source of all that exists. Scripture leaves no wiggle room on this. This is why I reject the proposition that the living prophet is more valuable than the written scripture. Example: GOD had a prophet Noah, to declare the coming flood. However, if previous scripture stated that there would never be a flood from GOD, then Noah saying there would be would be incompatible with scripture. I believe what Joseph Smith taught was like that. Scripture already clearly, unquestionably taught that GOD has always been as he now is, unchanging, omniscient, omnipotent, etc... Therefore, the Prophet Joseph saying otherwise is a complete contradiction of a foundational, absolute declaration of scripture. GOD is GOD. Always has been, always will be. He didn't become GOD. He is the creator, not a creation...
  16. There is not such thing as a "hate" crime. In fact the idea of trying to prosecute "hate" crime is evil. You cannot know the mind of an individual, and a person should never be punished for what they think. Example: If I were to murder a gay man, would it be a "hate" crime? How would you be able to tell? In this PC world of ours, the last thing we need it "hate" crime legislation. Personally, if I were on a jury and such a charge was made, I'd say "not guilty" because there is no means to determine a persons thoughts.
  17. Nuclear Energy is the means to the end of electricity production...
  18. I think "primary" but not "superior" would be correct. For example (hypothetical): Tithing is clearly, no room for wiggle, 10% of income. If President Monson said it was 15%, he would be wrong. However, he's free to define "income" and the method of payment / collection / use of tithing... Where the Scriptures have clearly spoken, the living prophet may only reaffirm those statements, he cannot change them. Of course, I'm talking about absolute statements of Scripture, not about things where there is ambiguity... As a matter of personal opinion, this is why I do not accept the later teaching of Joseph Smith on the nature of GOD as an being who became GOD. Scripture is so clear that GOD was always, in all respects, GOD, and that he alone created all things, that there is no room for an anthropomorphic deity...I also believe the same about the practice of polygamy and denial of priesthood to people of color... It is a dangerous, slippery slope, when we place the voice of one man (whatever the office) above that of concrete, unchanging scriptural foundations...
  19. I agree... The Central American model has one big, big problem, Cumorah...there would need to be two Cumorah's for it to be feasable, and the Church has stated without ambiguity that the Cumorah in the BofM is the Cumorah in Upstate NY...that's a major problem for the Central American theory...
  20. I think guns are good to have, but you're not going to be able to kill everyone... There's just not enough of "us" to feed "them" to put any dent in a food crisis...
  21. Well, some facts: 1) Paper currency ALWAYS collapses. No exceptions, no way around it. It is a historical fact. We have paper currency (Fed Notes) and they are collapsing. When that happens (and I'm not predicting when) we'll wish we were in the Great Depression, because that would be a better time to live in... 2) When the collapse happens, people will be killing each other for food... This being said, I don't think the government is manipulating "shortages" in an effort to confiscate weapons (ironic, isn't it, that a "Bircher" doesn't agree with a Conspiracy Theory?)... What the Government / Federal Reserve IS doing, is debasing our currency by printing it as fast as the presses will run...This will drive prices through the roof, etc... I think we are in the beginning of the final economic cycle that will end in total collapse of our currency and anarchy (or close to it)... What is interesting to me is the prophecy that the Elders will save the Constitution, yet, frankly, most LDS people have no clue whatsoever about what the Constitution even says... These are trying times, for sure, but no need to panic...
  22. When the store shelves are bare, and people find out you're LDS (or already know it) your shelves will be bare as well... There is no way to prepare for the ultimate collapse of our nation / economy, other than finding a place to live where you are so isolated, nobody would bother you (and there won't be a whole lot of those places around)... I think the admonition to prepare is a matter of obedience and intelligence...I don't think the Lord is trying to get us to have enough resources to get through the final tribulation period (mainly because it isn't really feasable)
  23. Panic is the antithesis of the Gospel. We are to prepare, and preparation takes work, sacrifice, commitment... But, it is a sign of the times, when a lot of people who are usually just ignorant dupes, begin to wake up to a "sense of their awful situation".....unfortunately, it is too late for them, for the most part....
  24. What do you all think of when you read Ether 8?
  25. I've always had a problem with this address. Mainly, it is with item #2... I believe it illogical to the extreme to say the Prophet is more valuable than the Standard Works, or visa-versa. They are both equally essential to our salvation. It is almost as if Pres. Benson is opening to door to the Prophet being able to go against clear scriptural teaching...(ironically, I personally think Pres. Benson was the most "prophetic" of the prophets of my lifetime...)
