  10. Peg, I don't know if you got a chance to listen to the Saturday afternoon session of General Confrence or not, but Elder Holland did a wonderful job of explaining this very subject. It should be available on line next week on the LDS.ORG web site and will be in the November Ensign.

  14. I am just loving to read about your journey Douglas. Your honest and sincere approach to all this is refreshing.Garden Girl and others offer good advice though. 18. What is the UMM UMW? Please fill me in. I'm ignorant.
  19. I'll second that comment Charity. My wife and I have done quite a bit of work on her side of the family and have never really noticed much out of the ordinary, but when I did her Fathers Endowment I felt a powerful feeling of happiness as we sat in the Celestial room. I leaned over to my wife to tell her something different was going on and she already has tears in her eyes. We both knew at that moment, without even talking to each other, that he had been waiting for this to happen. A very special moment for us both and one of the more spiritual times for me in His sacred house.
  20. Well like all prayers you begin by addressing Our Heavenly FatherYou then might offer thanks for blessings enjoyed as a group and other things as directed by the spirit. Perhaps ask for blessings to be with your Teacher and invite the Spirit to be with the Teacher and the class members Ask for any other blessings you may feel lead to by the Spirit Close in the name of Jesus Christ Amen I hope that helps and welcome to the board.
  21. Gosh Yediyd, your post just wants to make me cry. Your situation is just to common I think. I like Garden Girls suggestion though. Try to involve yourself as much as you can in events, and never be bashful about asking for a blessing.
  22. Way to go MorningStar. It is good to see how much one person can make a difference.Where I live, right in the heart of "Zion", we had a young mother who has taken up this exact same fight. It has made the news here. What really upsets me is the number of letters ot the editor our local paper has carried denouncing her and her efforts. I mean there are folks who really feel their "rights" are being violated by some waco lady who wants Cosmopolitan covered up. I don't know what "rights" they feel have been violated, but it has really been sad to see how much this has angered some. So keep the good fight you guys. I refuse to spend my money at a lot of these places you have mentioned because of their advertising methods. But just not buying their products isn't enough. They need to know why. You have inspired me to let them know. Thank you. And Laura Ingrham rocks. I have listened to her for years.
  23. I suppose there are many blessings we recieve and never realize it because we are to preoccupied with life or perhaps not in tune with the spirit.I tend to be a control freak and when things don't go as planned I will mumble and be upset rather than thinking about maybe there is a reason things are going this way and maybe if I quit carping about it and look for the blessings in it I might just come away uplifted. Not to sound like I'm bragging but not long ago I did a real nice thing for a friend. And I must admit, initially it was a big sacrifice. But for some reason I just felt the desire to do it, so I did, not expecting anything in return. Well to my amazement, not only was I blessed for it, but in ways I never would have dreamed.
  24. I'll offer the opposition here MorningStar. DO IT! I admit a real bias though.I think the calling of organist is one of the most important and yet most taken for granted callings in the church. But I soooo love the music and soooo appreciate the spirit it brings to a Sacrament service. I love to go early just to listen to the prelude music and enjoy the spirit. I just wish other folks would do the same. Sometimes the chattering in the Chapel before the meeting starts is a real distraction. My appreciation is also magnified because I know nothing about playing any instument, never mind the organ. So anyone who does gets a big from me. I would not feel obligated though. If you have piano talent though I would think try a few lessons and see if you may not learn to love it. We can never have to many Organists in the Church.
