I have a few problems with other things the Church says and/or teaches. Can I voice those few things or will I be called anti-Mormon again? It's getting to the point that I'm not wanting to even visit this site any longer...

Never thought about it that way...

Oh I'm not anti-Mormon. You guys can follow whatever religion you like. I didn't start this thread to be anti-mormon. I started this thread to tell ppl that I'm choosing to follow a different path.

I also have read the D & C and Pearl of Great Price. "i do not beleive the original poster was ever a true investigator" So for the last year the Missionaries didn't stop by and I didn't read everything I could about the Mormons and I didn't go to Sacrament meetings. Whatever.

Here are some of the prophicies of Joseph Smith that did not come true: Jesus would have returned in 1891 (Documentary History of the Church (DHC) 2:182) The Civil War would have poured out upon all Nations (D&C 87:1-3) The wicked of Smith's generation would have been "swept from off the face of the land" (DHC 1:315) A temple would have been built in Independence Missouri by the generation living in 1832 (D&C 84:4,5) Look up False Prophet sometime in your Bibles. I will track down that scripture later.

For various reasons I've decided to quit investigating the Church. One of the main things that got me thinking was that the Bible says you will know a prophet by his words. If what he says comes to pass he is a Prophet. Joseph Smith made several prophecies that didn't come true. The Bible also says that if even one prophecy fails to come true then that person is a false prophet. I believe that Joseph Smith was a false prophet. He may have been a good man but not a prophet. Many of his teachings are very questionable. I'll hang around but I'll not be going to Church.

Actually it does matter what Church you go to. There is the true Church then the all the rest. Membership does mean salvation.

This isn't the first time Honos has edited a post I made. I find it strange that I can not speak my opinion yet others can.

We don't have freedom. We don't have free agency. Here is why: If you make the wrong choice God will punish you. It's his way or the highway. If we had true free agency there would be no punishment for a choice other than the one God wants you to make. Kona, there is a difference between agency and license. I suggest you brush up on the distinction before posting again in this thread. If choices have no consequence, then the choices are meaningless and there is no agency. Any decision of importance is irrevocably tied to a consequence stemming from that decision. Honos

I think he made a much of promises he doesn't intend to carry out and made out the rest something we wanted to hear. Tax rebate checks? Last time those came we didn't get nothing...

This is sad news.

I was told that as a Mormon your not supposed to question your leaderts nor the Mormon teachings or Doctrine. If someone can't accept the Mormon teachings then they lack faith. It's simple really. You must have faith to believe God talks to modern day prophets.
