pam Posted June 5, 2008 Report Posted June 5, 2008 Watch this great You Tube about famous Mormons. Get the word out and show the world who Mormons REALLY are. Quote
MormonSoprano Posted June 5, 2008 Report Posted June 5, 2008 This video has such a great written text and wonderful photos. I just wish the accent was not so pronounced on the narrator!!! Sometimes I could not make out what he was saying at all. I had to rewind 4 or 5 times to get it. That is such a shame - because the overall intention is lovely, and the message is important. I hope the author modifies it - but if not, it is still worth watching a few times in order to catch all the text and humor. :) Quote
Heather Posted June 5, 2008 Report Posted June 5, 2008 You can't modify youtube videos once they're uploaded. Otherwise people would be paging huge sums to replace highly ranked videos with their own :) Quote
Guest Posted June 5, 2008 Report Posted June 5, 2008 I like the accent. I think it adds both flavour and texture to the video. I think it adds to the authenticity of the video. I have heard more praise about the narrator than this one negative viewpoint. Not everyone can see a single flat American accent as being the be all and end all of how things should be done properly. Billy Connolly used to start his stand up routine (after being criticized for his strong Scottish accent when taking his act down to England) that he "does most of my act in a Glsgow accent... because it's the only accent I know how to do..." Perhaps the narrator only knows how to do the one accent without it sounding completely off. Quote
Truegrits Posted June 5, 2008 Report Posted June 5, 2008 Very uplifting. I loved his accent, but I only understood about every third word... :) I do better with heavy accents when I am face-to-face. I had to watch it several times, but I enjoyed it each and every time! Quote

I wonder...who could that have been? hahaha I watched the video 2-3 times just so I could listen to the awesome accent. Quote
VisionOfLehi Posted June 6, 2008 Report Posted June 6, 2008 I loved the accent. I loved that it innately helps with the sense that Mormons are around the world, not just in the USA. Quote
WillowTheWhisp Posted June 6, 2008 Report Posted June 6, 2008 That accent is so familiar to me - we've got a Scottish Stake President! He's brilliant. Quote
MormonSoprano Posted June 6, 2008 Report Posted June 6, 2008 Ok, so as not to be labeled as a complete jerk here, I want to clarify that I think this video is absolutely brilliant! That was WHY it made me so sad when I couldn't understand half of the narration. I think it is AWESOME and I would like to share it, but hope my friends would invest the extra time to watch it repeatedly to get the message. Anyway, I agree with all posters here that his brogue is totally cool, and it makes it authentic and unique. I just wish he had talked SLOWER...! (Ok, Ok, Getting Over It) This video is on a much higher level of creativity and professionalism than your average YouTube. Way to go...whoever you are! Quote
Heather Posted June 18, 2008 Report Posted June 18, 2008 MormonSoprano you're awesome :) I totally get what you're saying. I see both sides of it. It would've been nice to have an professional narration, but then I think the idea of using a completely non-traditional voice is the genius of the video. Quote
pam Posted June 18, 2008 Author Report Posted June 18, 2008 Why thank you Heather...mwahahaha If ONLY I could claim the genius behind, in front, side to side or anywhere else of this video. I was just asked to post it on the site. lol Quote
Heather Posted July 3, 2008 Report Posted July 3, 2008 Wow, this video is now #3 for the search term "mormons" and #10 for "mormon." Pretty cool when it's surround by other videos that have hundreds of thousands of views. Quote
