Good news in the battle against porn!

Officials of Marriott International have agreed to meet with pro-family leaders who have asked the hotel chain to stop offering pornographic movies in its rooms.

The meeting is scheduled for May 14 in Washington, a spokeswoman for the American Family Association (AFA) confirmed April 22.

AFA sent a letter signed by 47 national and state pro-family leaders to Marriott CEO John W. Marriott III on April 3. In it, they described Marriott as “one of the leading lodging chains offering in-room pornographic movies” and requested the opportunity for a few of the signers to meet with Marriott representatives.

Southern Baptist ethics leader Richard Land, who signed the letter, welcomed Marriott’s decision to participate in such a meeting.

I really hope the hotel chain will discontinue this service. It may be profitable but there are sometimes more important things than money.

The Swedes were only boycotting for geographic reasons...most of the flicks offered are made in the San Fernando Valley are of Los Angeles...not some suburb of Stockholm...bwahahahahahahahahaha

Sorry for the edit -- I did it before you posted. I had mentioned that Swedish government officials cannot book a hotel room (while on government business) which offers in-room porn.

These major hotel chains all offer in-room X-rated movies delivered to the hotel by one of two major distribution companies, LodgeNet or On Command. Some analysts say these in-room sex movies generate more money for the hotel chains than revenue from the hotels' mini-bars.

"The 5 percent or 10 percent of revenue that the hotel chain gets, that's pure profit to them because they have no cost," says Dennis McAlpine, an entertainment industry analyst. "They didn't put in the wiring system, they didn't supply the programming."
