So I was interested to know how you study throughout the days. I usually devote some time to reading at least one chapter in the scriptures followed by reading a chapter in Gospel Principles. I have also devoted some nights to reading Jesus the Christ or the teachings of Joseph Smith.

So out of curiosity what are your study habits?

We have had our cable turned off because we felt that it was running our life, and as a result, I have spent a lot more time reading the scriptures. Almost to the point that I have gotten addicted to not only reading the scriptures, but also to the spirit that I feel when I read the scriptures.

What has worked best for me, and again, this is only me, is to tackle a book like Romans or Ephesians or Hosea and study as much about the writer and the people as I can. Try to figure out WHY the Lord wanted that in HIS scriptures. And then through out the whole week, I read it over and over again, (if it is short) and high light the important truths that are made known unto me from the Spirit and through prayer.

I also eat out a lot and enjoy reading my scriptures in restaurant while waiting for my food. That has prompted a lot of people to open up a discussion with me, and I am always happy to talk to them. Another plus about my love for the scriptures is when I am reading them at home at the kitchen table. Not for show, but when my kids and their friends see how important the scriptures are for me, hopefully I am sending a message to them that it should be important to them. Remember, Love for the scriptures are not taught, they are caught.

It's a little different for me. I used to read at least one chapter per day in the Book of Mormon, but for the last month or so, I've found myself jumping from one topic of study to another, from the Old Testament to the New Testament. Depending on the particular research subject I'll find myself reading about Cornelius in the New Testament, Enos' and Alma's prayer and fasting in the BoM, Abraham's story in the Old Testament or Joseph Smith's trials in the D&C. I also look up relevant articles in magazines or old clippings from the last twenty years of my collection or else I'll Google my research for more study. It's been quite educational and uplifting.

I am Roman Catholic. My husband and I study Sacred Scripture/The Bible daily. In our faith tradition-there is a 3 year cycle of readings that are the same readings world-wide within our faith tradition. Our focus is on those readings.

I am also reading some of the Book of Mormon and Doctrine and Covenants. -I have a more difficult time reading those-but I am learning.

Turning off the TV and the computer helps.

My husband has terminal cancer-so some of the Sacred Scripture passages that we read is focused on God's love and the promise of the resurrection.

There are two methods I very much enjoy studying scripture.

1. I love to do a word search and then review all scriptures that reference a specific word (like sword or servant). From time to time I like to search words that seem to want to be discovered.

2. I love to read scriptures with a concept in mind. For example I like to read various books of scripture (chapter and verse) for insight to a specific topic like covenants. I ask my self - what does this tell me about covenants? Sometimes it may express what happens when someone does not make a covenant or if a covenant is broken or a covenant kept.

I used covenant in #2 because I am on my 12th time reading scriptures specific to understanding covenants. Every time I learn something more about covenants.
