Well to get started, I will say that I am grateful to be a priesthood holder in the church. I grw up in a small farming town in Northern Ohio. (even after 8 years in Tx, I am still a buckeye at heart) I was raised Catholic and stated investigating other churches at the age of 16. I enlisted in the AF at the age of 17 and headed off to basic after graduation. After several years of service, one of my coworkers approached me and asked me why I was inactive, and this question confused me. I was one of the faster runners, played softball, golf, and other sports. He giggled and said, why aren't you going to church, and I said I haven't found one I like (still thinking I was LDS, he said, "you can't choose which one you go to, you are assigned the one you liv closest to") It was around this time that i think he realized i wasn't a member. After investigating the church over the course of 2 years (with a few deployments mixed in) I was baptized on 27 Mar 04. I took out my endowments on 21 Jul 06 at the Ogden Temple and try to go whenever i can.

I have 3 months remaining on my current enlistment in which i will be separating from the AF hoping to go to BYU starting in January 09. My current location and teaching position limit the dating opportunities and the "kids" here find it humorous to call me "grandpa". I am currently the 1st counselor in our Branch presidency (the second time I have been in this calling), Previously I have served as an Elders Quorum president and a Sunday School Teacher.

Well I always pull for the Buckeyes and still carry one in my pocket. I root for BYU too, not really a conflict of interest as we rarely ever pay each other. I pull for all the Big ten and country/ farm schools as well unless we are playing them. Here in Tx that means teams like Tx tech and A&M. So are you a hawkeye?

I am a 3P0 yay! lol yeah that sucks I got alot of "thanks" when I went home, but I am from the south so you know they love that kind of stuff anyways. Its pretty nice right when you get back you don't have to pay for a meal for like two weeks :D. That is a good idea I have played with the idea of getting my commission but I am not sure yet but I am going to finish my degree as soon as I can either way.

San Antonio wasn't the friendliest place to come back to, especially when I didnt speak negatively about Iraq. I just happened to be on the part of town that wasnt always the friendliest to military and in the 5 years I was there, I cant remember having a meal paid for. Her in San Angelo Tx, (further west) I have had someone pay for meal a few times.

Now when I went back to Ohio, most people wanted to listen to my experiences and seemed to be more thankful for our troop. sadly too many people watch the news and so they dont get to see the full picture. They seem to think that everyone hates us there and all military people are against the war. Notice how negative comments from leaders, spouses, and soldiers/airmen make the front page but positives and successes are kept out of the news?

Yeah they thrive off someone saying something negative and make it looks like the whole "force" thinks like that. So stupid -slams head on table- oh well it wouldn't be the US without the freedom to say what ever they wanted I love how we fight and die for thier right to bash on us.
