“Here is declared the Creator of all that is good and beautiful. I have looked at majestic mountains rising against a blue sky and thought of Jesus, the creator of heaven and earth. I have stood on a spit of sand in the Pacific and watched the dawn rise like thunder—a ball of gold surrounded by clouds of pink and white and purple—and thought of Jesus, the Word by whom all things were made… What then shall you do with Jesus that is called Christ?

“This earth is his creation. When we make it ugly, we offend him.”

President Gordon B. Hinckley

Was President Hinckley a closet environmentalist? :o

When knows the consequences, almost all with a good conscience are environmentalists. Sounds like President Hinckley foresaw the costs of unbridled pollution.

there are several that are democrats...but not all of them are....

This I'm aware of, but it's so much more fun to just stereotype the whole group.

I was in a ward once where a member (who was certifiably a little off his rocker) said that no Mormon in good standing could be a democrat. I didn't have the heart to give him examples.

It is amazing how prevalent this myth is among many members. Perhaps they are the ones only using the mythical 10% of their brain power. ;)

I consider myself an environmentalist, but I disagree with just about everything the greens do today.

We have always been commanded to practice good stewardship in the use of the earth and its resources. But that does NOT mean that we are not to use its resources. God did not create this world with the intention that we would lock it up and never use or see any of it. It is here for us to use wisely. He did not mean for us to live like cavemen forever. Technology is our friend, and is to be used for the benefit of man.

There's no closet about it. I wonder how anyone who believes in the Creation could not be an environmentalist.

I agree with John - we do need to be good stewards of the Earth as we use her resources. I think that greed and pride are the root of environmental destruction.

All of the First Presidency and Twelve are closet members of the Green Party. They all vote democrat too.

:eek::eek::eek::eek::eek:My beloved grandfather would be rolling in his very republican grave!!

As for the environmentalists, this earth was a gift to us and we were commanded to take care of it as well as the animals put here with us. It's when you have these people using it for public or political gain. Especially when they contradict themselves. One of my favorite examples was a few years back when Al Gore threw a big outside concert. The electricity used was a phenominal amount, not to mention the big litter mess, and the thousands of cars that drove thousands of miles to be there. (I got this info from Glenn Beck. Incase anyone was wondering.) Thats what bugs me.
