amjackson1975 Posted August 23, 2008 Report Posted August 23, 2008 Hi I'm AJ and new to this group. Myself and my husband recently decided that we needed God in our lives again. LDS is very new to us. I will be attending church for the first time this Sunday. My husband is in the military and was deployed within the last 48 hours. We live in S.C, but I am originally from the England. We have 3 children, a yours, mine and ours situation. My husband has a daughter who is 5 years old, she lives with her mother. My son is 10 years old and our daughter is 1 year old, both live with us and will be attending church with me. I joined the group to make friends and learn more about LDS AJ Quote

amjackson1975 Posted August 25, 2008 Author Report Posted August 25, 2008 Thank you again! I just wanted to let you know that both my children and I had a WONDERFUL time at the church. I was a little nervous because my daughter was quite vocal on occasions, I took her out of the Sacrament meeting as I didn't want to disturb everyone. I was told not to worry about it and that they totally understood how little children are, and that I really did not need to take her out. My son loved Primary; my daughter who is 1 was also taken into primary but only because my neighbor who introduced me to the church is an assistant in the class. She took my daughter with her so I could concentrate on my Sunday school class and attend Women's Relief. This is the friendliest church that I have been to and I am so grateful that I have been introduced. I will definately be attending again, in fact to the new church as construction has just finished. I'm sure that I will have lots of questions over the coming weeks!! Quote
Truegrits Posted August 25, 2008 Report Posted August 25, 2008 I am so glad that you had such a positive experience! :) There are many knowledgeable people on the site that will be happy to address any and all questions/thoughts you may have. Quote
delio32 Posted August 25, 2008 Report Posted August 25, 2008 Welcome and thanks for coming to the site. I am new to the site as well and from everything I have been reading here, it seems like a great place to learn and discuss. Again, Welcome!! Quote
Maya Posted August 26, 2008 Report Posted August 26, 2008 So nice you all had a good time there. And really dont worry about the kids. My husbands note: let the small children come to me and hinder dem not..... It takes them a while to learn to be quiet... if they ever do:D... We ahve a nice little 4 year ols last year he run around the seats a few times and once he went to sit beside the bishop who put his hand on his shoulder and boy did he sit quiet for a short while... he will be a bishop one day for sure. I dont know if anyone has suggested you to take some quiet things for the kids to do, play with in the meeting or some snacks ... I always tok something to keep them quiet... I even tok lollipops A quiet book id wery nice... even keys for the little one. Some new ones like my oldest was 4 when I first time went to the church with her... I had to teach her to whisper... she soon learned to whisper in teh meetings.... and she learned that while sacrament is passed, mother do not answer anyway, so better wait until after... and she loved the coloring books. I loved the church from the first visit... I have been missing a meeting once or twice, without it been impossible for me to get there. Church rocks! :) Quote
Mykdiver Posted August 26, 2008 Report Posted August 26, 2008 Welcome to the site, and to the Church! Do not worry about the kids, the Church is VERY family oriented, and everyone understands where you are at right now. Congratulations on finding the Church! You will be very blessed! I am also a recent convert, my wife, our 2 children and I joined the Church about 2 years ago, and we all LOVE it! Being in the Military myself I love the fact that no matter where I go in the world I know where to go to Church. Also when visiting a foriegn country the members are always very willing to take us in and feed us, and help us with anything we need. It is a great feeling being part of something so good. The members make the Church what it is, of course the Lord does too. Again, welcome to the site, feel free to ask any questions you have, do not worry about them being dumb, because no question is dumb. We will be more than happy to help you on your journey! Michael.
