I'm sorry DrT but I sort of agree that the Lakers will be near total collapse this year. They didn't do what the Celtics did (sorry) and stock up on draft picks and young guys.

That said, it's not the Lakers fault. Dwight Howard was a baby and sort of threw them overboard.

Lakers Sign Michael Frazier

EL SEGUNDO – The Los Angeles Lakers have signed guard Michael Frazier to a multi-year contract, it was announced today by General Manager Mitch Kupchak. Per team policy, terms of the deal were not released.

The 21-year-old Frazier, a 6’4’’ shooting guard, most recently played for the Golden State Warriors in the 2015 NBA Summer League in Las Vegas, averaging 4.5 points, 2.7 rebounds, and 1.0 assists in 15.8 minutes per game over six contests (all starts).

I hope he adds. Basically my thought process is maybe management is trying to bring a lot of guards in, cut Kobe's time (I will believe it when I see it) and have development of newbies under Kobe as sort of a passing the baton scenario. I will be surprised if we get anywhere this year. It is my hope that my boys surprise and turn heads. We have young and different players but I hope we pull one out of the hat. Lakers stole the show in years past. I'd love to get back to that. Kobe is on his way out. I hope he fosters development. Clarkson seem to have potential and Russell is so new and a roukie but he seems to be confident in his skill and ability.

The torch does need to be passed, very true my friend. No one can play forever, it's not how the game works.

Lakers News: L.A. Signs Undrafted Center Robert Upshaw.  He is a 7 footer

"undrafted as an early entry candidate for the 2015 NBA Draft after his sophomore season at Washington, Upshaw led the nation with 4.5 blocks per game in just 24.9 minutes in 19 appearances in 2014-15. In addition, the 7-0 center averaged 10.9 points on 59.3% shooting and 8.2 rebounds for the Huskies in his final collegiate campaign, to go along with six double-doubles."  Quote from Lakernation.com

I heard about him! He really could have used another year in college, to be honest. He would have been drafted maybe in the second round, but I do not see him being chosen higher.

When you said "Huskies" I immediately thought of UConn!

Steve Nash will be on coaching staff for the Champs next year, the Golden State Warriors.   Too back for my Lakers Guards

Sorry DrT, but Nash is really going to help those kids on the Warriors. They could get even better.

Ron Artest will sign a one year contract with us. He is a competitor and can help push our players to develop when they scrimmage I think. I think he and Randle play each other hard which can strengthen Randle I hope.

Artest could have been much, much better in his career but he was so insane (Sorry DrT, it's the truth) and could never get ahold of the demons. When I think of Artest and his career, I think of "What a waste. He could have been so much better if he wasn't insane."

I don't mean to sound harsh, we all have demons. I know I do. But Artest really threw away what could have been a great career. He is like Gilbert Arenas. I am alone in this, but I think Gilbert could have been so much better.

We all have faults and demons. I think it's more sad than anything else.

Preseason started last night in Hawaii for my boys and Utah. For me, preseason doesn't mean much besides getting a look at who we have on the floor, who will work well with whom and just get a taste of what playing in a game will be like. I don't like to lose and we lost last night 71-90 with typical poor play in the fourth. What are the factors that play into U.S. Tanking in the 4th quarter? We has 12 points vs their 33. That definitely will not help us and we will be better. Hibbert pulled down 10 with only 3 points. We'll see how it goes. GO LAKERS!

We dropped the first two BUT we did not get pounded.  Let's see...114 - 117 against Utah.  They had one bad quarter and we played a stronger fourth.  We had 7 in double digits.  Some good things, good things but better if we won.  Hibbert was ok tonight and Randle looked pretty good all around.  Russel went down this game.  Laker injury already started before this second game.  :(  This could be fun.
