pam Posted January 22, 2009 Report Posted January 22, 2009 Deliver pizzas, wife tells laid-off hubby - CNN.comHow I wish this article had come out when we had a poster complaining about how tough his financial situation was. Also I had to chuckle over this paragraph:The LeBlanc family lives lean in their five-bedroom, three-bathroom house with its $440 a month mortgage. The couple is teaching their children about budgeting and bargaining while relying on coupons and sales. They no longer eat out and no longer have cable TV. For entertainment, they attend free movies at a church. Donna LeBlanc takes pride that they have no credit card debt.I'd love to have a 5 bedroom, 3 bath home for only $440 a month mortgage. That's tough. Quote
Dr T Posted January 22, 2009 Report Posted January 22, 2009 I didn't read it. What state where they in? From what u posted Pammy, it sounds like they are trying to live within their means and it's difficult for them with a $440/month morgage. Maybe they need prayer. Quote
Hemidakota Posted January 22, 2009 Report Posted January 22, 2009 What? 440 dollars a month? Where is this house sitting? Midwest? Quote
pam Posted January 22, 2009 Author Report Posted January 22, 2009 My point really was...we had a poster that whined about how he couldn't live without his girlfriend's income...well...deliver pizzas to make ends meet. This family was doing what they could to do just that. My only chuckle was about lean living in a 5 bedroom 3 bath home. Quote
Dr T Posted January 22, 2009 Report Posted January 22, 2009 Sticky Wealth: While I was reading a Bible story to my children about the influence Jesus had on Zacchaeus, my daughter wanted to know just how rick Zacchaeus was. I tried to explain with descriptions of how his home, chariot, and clothes may have looked, but nothing seemed to impress her. Then her older brother piped up. "He was so rich he had enought money to buy one hundred pieces of gum!" With that explanation her eyes lit up, and the enormity of Zacchaeus's wealth and what he did with it for Jesus sank in. I just wanted to share that story that I read to say people have different perspectives on finances and what is easy for some people are much more difficult for other people and when framed in a way the person can understand then it become more clear. :) Quote
Palerider Posted January 23, 2009 Report Posted January 23, 2009 Dave Ramsey will always tell you to get a part time job if you can't make ends meet and budget and cut back.... Quote
