I had it happen to me last night and it freaked me out enormously. It wasn't on this site but I was contacted on one of my instant messanger programs from someone and told they had a crush on me but they were extremly shy. They tried to contact me through email. ( I have no records of emails from them, if they did send them they were reported as spam) I mentioned that to them. I wasn't too panic at first but then they mentioned they had pictures of them in risque postions with my name written all over their body. That freaked me out even more they provided a link where I supposedly could look at them. (I did not click on it btw) Because I would never look at someone in such a manner. I think the site may have been also an attempt to steal my idenity as well as the person on the other end stated that I would need a credit card or id or something to prove I was over 18 on this website he was on. More warning lights flashed off as well. Needless to say the person was put on my ignore list and reported on my instant messanger as being spam. But I am slightly unnevered. I hope this will be the end of things. I have always been cautious of people on the internet for good reason. I tried to look for a transcript of this communication I had but sadly it was deleated and I thought I had saved it. But is there anyway to make sure I am not contacted again? Short of uninstalling my IM programs, because I do have people I consider friends on mymessanger. I have no idea who this person is, I think they specifically made a new id so I couldn't figure out who it was. If I don't act on a stalker's stalking will I be okay?

I get random people trying to add me on msn messenger occassionally and my rule is, if i don't know you i don't talk to you.

one time, the address was one close to my best friends and i thought "oh wow, she got a new email." so i added her. wrong choice.

after a minute of conversation i quickly realized this was just spam and blocked/deleted/reported the incident.

it sounds more like this was a case of spam than a case of stalking angel. although i can understand why you were a bit freaked out. be careful entering your email address ANYWHERE online. if you do online shopping, get an email address specifically for confirmations. that way if there happens to be any spam involved, it goes to that specific account instead of your regular account.

also, you've been doing a lot of online applications, you should get a separate account for those as well. not only does that make your emails easier to sift through, but it helps lessen the spam you recieve to your main email, and messengers.

just a suggestion.

I had a real internet stalker and someone I knew in real life, think I know who it was now. They ran me off several forums until I found this one and changed my sign in name lol It was quite scary though

Now that you mention it. I think your quotation of mention that it's Spam related. I agree. Although I try not to reveal my contact info on most forum sites which I think maybe how this particular stalker/spammer was able to contact me.

it is spam lol i couldn't figure out where i had heard something almost exactly like that.... but i just remembered my husband got some junk email like that in our joint email acct. my first thought was "what the..... " lol

it is the email we use for our msn so it may be spam they are having trouble with.

imagine that conversation.... honey some chick says she has posted picks of herself with your name written all over her body online....!!!! lol

i didn't click on any links by the way, just deleted/reported it as spam.

i'm not losing any sleep over it.

Well this is the first time I've ever had this happen. I guess the internet keeps being more and more.....unsettling. I guess the internet is evolving more and more and not in a way I like it. I understand now, it is spam. But it's spam that I was never familar with before.

Thanks Gwen.

If a stalker knows where to find you, you have cause for concern.

If you don't share personal details online, and the stalker has no clue who you are or how to find you, you only have cause for concern if you don't know how to block him out of your life.

My wife was checking our joint email at home one day a couple months ago, and received something similar. She called me to ask if I was involved in anything rotten. I told her it must be spam, and to delete it without clicking on any links. Haven't gotten anything else since.

This is just one reason I do not use Facebook or Myspace. They are filled with risk, including bad people seeking to spam or send viruses to infect PCs. Even people you know on those lists could have had their site infected, and could infect you by just linking to them. Not worth it to me, at all.

Thanks everyone. Maybe I was overreacting, but I have a lot of contacts on my messangers and I have many good friendship with many online friends. So when a porn spamer contacts me on my messanger, I freaked out thinking that it might be one of my online friends that I've chatted with before. But now that you're telling me that this is somewhat common I am relieved that it isn't one of my online buddies.
