Saywihee Posted March 4, 2009 Report Posted March 4, 2009 (edited) Ok, I'm in the St Louis area on the east side (Meaning I live accross the river in Illinois) And I sort of can't always check up on my brother who is Attending BYU Provo. But I haven't heard from him in over a week and things are starting to get scary. I have tried calling his cell phone, and it has been turned off for four days, and he hasn't responded to any of my emails. I really don't know what to do. I'm sort of scared for him. It's not like him to turn of all his contacts like this. I wish I could find out his Stake and Ward information so that I could contact him. If ANYONE In the BYU Provo area could help me please send me a PM. I can give you more information from there. I am to the point of requesting days off so that I can go up there and find him myself! ruthiechan Posted March 4, 2009 Report Posted March 4, 2009 I am assuming this is unusual behavior. Contact the school and see if they can determine whether or not he's been attending classes. Call the police. They would have more luck with finding out whether or not he's been attending classes and going to work. Quote
Gwen Posted March 4, 2009 Report Posted March 4, 2009 LDS Maps put in his address and it will tell you what unit he is zoned for... other than that i will say, and not to say you are lying or try to insult your situation, but this kind of thing can be difficult. if you meet some resisitance don't be offended.sometimes ppl will make up fake stories to find someone that is trying to get away from them (often in spouse abuse situations) ..... when i've been in the situation where someone i didn't know asked for me to help them find someone (yes, it's happened before) i take the approach of i will let them contact you. i do not give out that person's personal info if i know where they are. i take the phone number or whatever other information they want to give me from the person looking for them and give it to the person being looked for... then they can call if they want to. that way if it is a bad situation i haven't made something worse. i say this both to warn any trusting members that may offer to help (since i don't know you) and to let you know some ppl handle things this way so you can understand another perspective and not get upset if you run into it. NeuroTypical Posted March 4, 2009 Report Posted March 4, 2009 It's not like him to turn of all his contacts like this.If you think he's in trouble, ruthie and Gwen have both given several good bits of advice. All much better options than trying to find someone online who can go look for him.LM Quote
Wingnut Posted March 4, 2009 Report Posted March 4, 2009 He could be busy with midterms. He could have lost his phone. There are a number of scenarios that could be happening that don't require panicking. Quote

PM me with whatever personal details you feel necessary and I'll see what's listed as his personal information as far as phone number/address is concerned. Quote
Guest missingsomething Posted March 4, 2009 Report Posted March 4, 2009 Why not just put your mind at ease... contact the university - they will help you locate him. If you don't get help there, contact the police as they would be more than willing to help. I had to do this once for my sister - turns out her phone line to her house was cut and took 2 wks to fix so no email or phone calls. Quote

LittleWyvern Posted March 4, 2009 Report Posted March 4, 2009 Please keep Gwen's advice in mind.Yeah, that's true... I'm probably not authorized to give out that information. I suppose you'd have to call the BYU offices or something. Quote
Saywihee Posted March 5, 2009 Author Report Posted March 5, 2009 Update: I did find my brother. I contacted BYU's campus Police and they confirmed that he's ok. He contacted me later today and told me that his Cell Phone went through the washing machine and he was able to salvage the phone but he had to get a new Battery. I chewed him out for not replying to my emails... but he's ok. Quote
GingerGolden Posted March 5, 2009 Report Posted March 5, 2009 Good for you Say!I am glad you found your brother.I know I'd be worried if mine disappeared without a word... Quote
jolee65 Posted March 5, 2009 Report Posted March 5, 2009 Just remember your better off calling the campus and talking directly to the office or campus police. I can see your concern but gwen was right. Quote
