Brenlae Posted March 15, 2009 Report Posted March 15, 2009 So, I was flippling through the book of mormon and I was curious - are there sections where I can read if I'm feeling anxious or afraid or tempted, for example? Like, I was reading the back of the book and it had a sort of reference, is that where I should be looking? Any help? Quote
tubaloth Posted March 15, 2009 Report Posted March 15, 2009 Thats probably the best place to look. Its not really a reference and much as its an Index. For the "Section" about being tempted, Alma 36 might help. 2 Nephi 4. Quote
Jim108 Posted March 15, 2009 Report Posted March 15, 2009 Read the Gospels from the Bible, Listen hard to what Jesus is saying. It is here where you will find the truth. Read Mathew, Mark Luke and John and if I were you, I would start with John. It is not the book of mormon, but it is however the truth. I hope this helps, Jim Quote
BenRaines Posted March 15, 2009 Report Posted March 15, 2009 I am confused Jim108, "It is not the book of mormon, but it is the truth." What does that mean? Does that mean that the "book of mormon" is not the truth? I am confused Jim Ben Raines Quote
gabelpa Posted March 15, 2009 Report Posted March 15, 2009 There are quite inspiring parts of the Book of Mormon. For me,I will just open randomly and read where it opens. Re: Jim108 Perhaps you can read 3 Nephi 11 and onward, which is Christ's ministry to the people of the Book of Mormon. Good section. Quote

I am confused JimBen RainesThe OP asked for references within the Book of Mormon, and Jim108 gave references from the New Testament...I think he was just saying "It's not the Book of Mormon like you asked, but it's still true." That's how I read it, at least. Quote

Have faith brother, trust in the truth. See the light and follow the spirit. Dont fret in inferences that make no sense and do not make out of thin air things that were not said. God Bless you, Jim Quote
BenRaines Posted March 15, 2009 Report Posted March 15, 2009 Not looking for inferences or hidden meaning behind a meaning. Was only looking for clarification. Thanks for the effort. Also to clarify from my understanding truth comes from a witness by the Holy Ghost. Holy Ghost can only bear witness to truth not falsehood. Words are words, testimony given by Holy Ghost is where I find and learn what is truth. Ben Raines Quote

bytor2112 Posted March 16, 2009 Report Posted March 16, 2009 One of my fav's........2 Ne. 31: 2020 Wherefore, ye must press forward with a steadfastness in Christ, having a perfect brightness of hope, and a love of God and of all men. Wherefore, if ye shall press forward, feasting upon the word of Christ, and endure to the end, behold, thus saith the Father: Ye shall have eternal life. Quote

Madriglace Posted March 19, 2009 Report Posted March 19, 2009 Go to the back and pick a topic that is opposite what you are feeling (joy for sadnees as an example) then read all the scriptures listed for that topic. By the time you are half way through you will feel GREAT! It's hard to pick a favorite part unless it is when the Savior calls the little ones to Him and they are encirlced by fire and ministered to by angels and he gives each and everyone a blessing personally. Such a powerful example of His love for us. Quote
rameumptom Posted March 19, 2009 Report Posted March 19, 2009 I recommend the following chapters for inspiration: 1 Nephi 1, 2 Nephi 4, 2 Nephi 30-31, Mosiah 2-5, 17, Alma 13, 29, 36, 3 Nephi 1, 11-12, 4 Nephi, Ether 12, Moroni 7, Moroni 10. Quote

rameumptom Posted March 20, 2009 Report Posted March 20, 2009 What happen to the other 8-Apostles account? Sorry...I cannot help laughing. Wouldn't it be the other 10 apostles? Mark and Luke were not apostles. Quote
