Faded Posted March 23, 2009 Report Posted March 23, 2009 I also seen some where that Utah has the highest depression rate:(That's funny because a Gallup Poll just barely found Utah to be the happiest state in the nation. The Happiest States of America - Economix Blog - NYTimes.comThe Happiest States of AmericaBy Catherine RampellWant to be live among the happiest Americans? Move to Utah.People in Utah report the highest levels of well-being, according to recent survey results from Gallup-Healthways Well-Being Index. West Virginia had the lowest score. The index attempts to “measure what it is that people believe constitutes a good life, who is feeling good about life, and who is in need of a helping hand.” In general, the states where people reported feeling better about life were located primarily in the West, and lower well-being states were clustered in the Midwest and the South: Quote

Faded Posted March 23, 2009 Report Posted March 23, 2009 Im just telling you what I read! I would copy and paste but i don't no if I can do that on with out breaking some ruleIt's a fact that 80% of statistics are made up on the spot. The point is that a lot of these studies are going to be flawed. It would seem rather contradictory for Utah to be found "The Happiest State in the country" and "The most Depressed State in the Country" all at the same time, right? I don't live in Utah, so I have no axe to grind. I'm enjoying my life in Chicago-land just fine. There's no rule that says you can't copy and paste. That's what I did. Quote

Depends if the first study was done in Logan and the second in Provo right after a USU vs BYU game with the former winning. :) Quote

Moksha Posted March 23, 2009 Report Posted March 23, 2009 I believe this one has already been discussed HERE. :) Thank goodness my zip code was not listed!BTW, I bet BYU could come out with a study to show that Utah was really the lowest in porn consumption. Quote

Is it possible for the person who started a tread to close it? I missed that other thread. I'll stop commenting here an move over there. (Wish I had joined this forum years ago. As I look around I see many old topics that I would have loved to discuss, but seem to be hashed and re-hashed.) Edited March 23, 2009 by Janice Quote
InnerGold Posted March 23, 2009 Report Posted March 23, 2009 This data was collected off of paid subscriptions to online pornography. Yes, this is possibly true because the ability to hide something like this is easier. For example, someone is looking at porn in their email, their spouse comes in, a few expressions of frustrations and disgust and the spouse simply dismisses it as someone sent spam and it was clicked on, not know what it was. The spouse walks out and does not think about it again, unless the spouse is caught again. The same repetition goes on. This happens a lot, that is why it is important to ask your spouse: When was the last time you saw porn? In Utah, we have strong values and it is promoted and talked about everywhere so it is even more hidden because of the shame associated. Outside of Utah, pornography is being accepted more and more and they do not view it as a problem. You can read this same sentiment in several of the posts through out this forum. Parents, family, spouse or friends brush it off as natural and ok, it is what guys do. This is not true this is what the world would have you believe the fact-of-the-matter is if you look at everything regarding porn, it is destructive. Quote
