Winnie G Posted March 7, 2005 Report Posted March 7, 2005 I could not believe my eyes yesterday.I wrote a email to Martha Stewart by the link at her web site, just to welcome her home and how much I was looking forward to what good things she was going to be teaching me soon. I also told her not to let the old boys club get her down.Sunday she wrote me back! She thanked me for the email and the welcome home as well as the good giggle. My sons give me a hard time about her; they called my craft and sewing box my “Martha Stewart Tackle Box”.I always tell them to shut up they owe Martha for my home making skills as a young mother and many a good meals. They shut up after that, I mean really boys its not like I am some kind of Diva.I also own my own fishing gear, four rods and reels, who do they think thought them how to camp and fish?? I can cook a four-course meal on a open fire and did it in the pouring rain my first camping trip with my husband. He sat in the van and laughed at me. When I ask him what he was laughing at. He said he did not take me serious when we were dating and I told him I loved to camp and fish let along could cook in the rain. He enjoyed stake baked potatoes, corn on the cob tossed salad and baked apple crisp. All with rain pouring off my bass ball hat.He said from that moment on he realised I was not just telling stories to impress him. StrawberryFields Posted March 7, 2005 Report Posted March 7, 2005 That is really neat Winnie! My hubby also has a good time mocking her but she is a Survivor! Quote
Winnie G Posted March 7, 2005 Author Report Posted March 7, 2005 I might actually watch Survivor if she was on. Quote
Guest curvette Posted March 7, 2005 Report Posted March 7, 2005 She certainly was a much better sport about the whole thing than I gave her credit for! Before all this, I thought she was on her way to being another Leona Helmsley! Quote
Amillia Posted March 8, 2005 Report Posted March 8, 2005 I like her. But my kids don't. But then they are mostly all boys. Quote
sgallan Posted March 9, 2005 Report Posted March 9, 2005 Martha Stewart learned humility and she is the better person for it. She stepped it up and took her punishment. Prison is not a nice place. Even the mellow prison she went too. Everybody gets strip and body cavity searched for example. A process which is humiliating and demeaning to say the least. You start "work" at the bottom (toilets or pulling weeds) and earn your way up. A lot of people she served with come from another world. Many are addicts. Many have done things which were beyond her experiences. If she continues to live and practice what she learned I am one of those people (given I teach mostly inmates) who will become a fan of hers. It doesn't get much tougher, but most tough experiences are good times to learn. So far she seems to have. Quote
DisRuptive1 Posted March 9, 2005 Report Posted March 9, 2005 She'll probably come up with even weirder ways to turn something dull into something nice on her show or books or whatever. I'm curious what her cell looks like. Maybe she made a fake plant out of socks or something. Or even the orange jumpsuits could be made to look like a lovely flower. Quote

Maureen Posted March 10, 2005 Report Posted March 10, 2005 I was never a fan of Martha Stewart and still am not; but it will be interesting to see if prison has changed her for the good. M. Quote
DisRuptive1 Posted March 10, 2005 Report Posted March 10, 2005 As I said, it probably did. She probably became humbled and learn to do what she did before but using less. She'll be more thankful for her shovel when she spent so much time trying to dig a hole out of prison with a spoon. Quote
