anon256 Posted April 30, 2009 Report Posted April 30, 2009 Hello, I am of a Christian upbringing.I recently met a woman that is LDS and is working towards visiting the temple. Before I had met her with in a few weeks even I had been Praying and meditating about where my faith lays.I do believe that Christ would Present himself to the indigenoius population of north america because we are all his creation.whether its here or anywhere else in the world...It just makes sense.I believe Joseph Smith was a prophet.I have personal reasons for that as well. around this time I was approched by some Elders as well which granted I live in mesa AZ...its a heavy LDS population but this had never happened here before when I lived other places I always made my home there home....Basically what I am saying is through my prayer and meditation and meeting this woman and then the elders I feel like I am supposed to be with this woman, and convert....I would love to remarry and I would love to marry this woman.she is beautiful and classy and her kids are wonderful.Only hitch with this is I had a Vasectomy 5 years ago,and I am not a confirmed member of the church as much as I would like to be,for I want this marriage to be sealed and I am willing to participate as much as possible and I still want kids!!!Does my Past marriage and Vasectomy put a wrench in things or is this just another test of god?and if anyone knows a good surgeon let me know thanks.... jameslentz Posted April 30, 2009 Report Posted April 30, 2009 first welcome to the site....second, we all come to the gospel with different circumstances and life experiences. I would say the important thing here is to make sure you are investigating because of your own need for truth and the gospel and not because you think it is the only way she will marry you. You both deserve for this decision to be based on your personal salvation. So just ask yourself, "If I convert and she stops dating me, would I continue to be active?" If you can honestly answer yes and you have faith in Jesus Christ then your first step would be to take the discussions with the missionaries, and start going to church. The first step in any life changing event is usually the hardest but is also the most rewarding. Good luck and keep coming here for advice, there are a lot of really great people on this site. Quote

cyoung Posted April 30, 2009 Report Posted April 30, 2009 Vasectomy is not an issue, You are good to go. If your cursed by what you did before your conversion, we are all hosed. I joined the church at 21 after many mistakes. There are plenty of kids out there to adopt that need loving parents to be sealed to them for eternity. Just get a testimony, get baptised and don't look back Quote
Wingnut Posted April 30, 2009 Report Posted April 30, 2009 Neither the previous marriage nor the vasectomy should have any weight on whether or not you can be baptized. If you are concerned about the vasectomy because you want to have children with this woman, you can discuss reversal with your physician, who can refer you to a surgeon. A word of caution though: don't convert for the woman. Do it for yourself and because of your love for the Lord. Quote
anon256 Posted May 1, 2009 Author Report Posted May 1, 2009 thanks for the answers the Ironic thing is that over the past few weeks I had been sort of praying on joining the church anyways.Because of the tight family bond that the church represents and Ive had little things happen which confirms I should join so I will be going to service this weekend to check it out Quote
StallionMcBeastly Posted May 1, 2009 Report Posted May 1, 2009 Neither of those would hold you back from getting baptized. My advice is follow your promptings and learn more about the church and hopefully, be baptized. Welcome to the forum by the way :) Quote
