Well its our twins turn for Baptism. My husband is baptising them and we have friends confirming them both as my Husband and I are the only Church members in our family.

We have envited a few friends and family members to the baptism which will be small and quite informal.

I just wandered if you had a few bullet points that I should include in my 5-10 minute talk.

Thanks in advance,

if you dont mind having a quick read -

Moroni said that –

“all those who were true believers in Christ took upon them gladly the name of Christ – or Christians, because of their belief in Christ” Alma46:15

You have both decided to be baptised and take upon you the name of Christ.

You are following in the footsteps of the Saviour, who stood in the River Jordan 2000 years ago and was baptised by his cousin John the Baptist infront of witnesses and friends and family members. As you will be baptised today, by your Dad and infront of witnesses and friends and family.

The Saviour was baptised so that everyone could receive a remission of their sins. That means that we can ask for forgiveness and our sins can be forgiven. This means that we can go and live with our Heavenly Father in Heaven.

Today you are making a baptismal covenant with Heavenly Father. This is a two way promise.

You promise to live by his commandments.

Heavenly Father gives the Holy Ghost to those who obey Him. You obey Him when you choose to be baptized. You obey Him when you pray each day and study His words in the scriptures. You obey Him when you obey your parents. You obey Him when you are kind, honest, patient, and loving toward others. You obey Him when you keep His commandments. You obey Him by remembering His Son, Jesus Christ, and trying to do what He would have you do. As you do these things, you will be worthy to have the constant companionship of the Holy Ghost.

After you have been baptised you will have hands placed upon your head and by the power of the priesthood you will be give the Gift of the Holy Ghost.

The Holy Ghost will guide you and help you to choose the right (see D&C 11:12-14). You must learn to choose the right in order to be worthy to live again with Heavenly Father and Jesus Christ.

The warmth and love that you feel when we sit together as a family discussing things, when we read the scriptures, when we serve each other and others. When you feel love or joy or peace or patience, when you are gentle and kind, you are feeling the influence of the Holy Ghost in your life.

The Holy Ghost is also called the Comforter (see John 14:26). He can give you peace and comfort when you are sad or lonely or worried.

The Holy Ghost can also give you the power to overcome things.

Its important that we keep our promise to Heavenly Father so that he can keep his promise to us and so every week you get to come to church to take of the sacrament and renew this promise to Heavenly Father.

That is the gift that the Saviour did for us. I want you both to read about the Saviour and follow his example and keep your baptismal covenants that you make with Heavenly Father today.

In the name of Jesus Christ, Amen

i like it. can you get into the church library and get some pictures to go with the talk to help show them some of the things you are talking about?

maybe a picture of Christ being baptized, a dad baptizing his son, a dad confirming his son. different pictures having to do with what baptism means to you and the things that go with your talk?

I brought this up awhile back in another thread..but when talking about the Holy Ghost to an 8 year old..one visual that works is having a comforter (blanket) there and likening the warmth and coziness of the comforter to the Holy Ghost.

The Baptisms went very well, with 14 non members there, the spirit was very powerful. Everyone was very comfortable. The boys loved it and feel great.

The blessings that they recieved when they were given the gift of the Holy Ghost were so unique to them and it was so lovely to hear the words and feel the confirmed by the spirit that it was true.

Thanks for your help.
