Pop Ups!

Recommended Posts

Anyone care to share what they use for a pop-up blocker?

I have been using msn toolbar and life was good. Today my daughter downloaded something and my msn toolbar is gone. I have reloaded iit but it won't stay and the pop ups keep coming. Any suggestions?

Run Adaware SE (free download from Lavasoft)

http://www.lavasoftusa.com/software/adaware/

and Spybot S&D (also free download)

http://www.safer-networking.org/en/download/

You may also have a trojan on your machine (likely) so do an online scan:

If all else fails, save your personal flies, and reformat your hard drive (make sure you re-partition!) and reload windows and drivers. Then transfer your files back onto the hard drive and your all set!

Mozilla can be a little unpredictable on links tho, and can 'crash' now and again, I go with Jason's original idea re AdWare SE...that's what I've got...I also run Opera browser now, tho can't remember if it automatically blocks pop ups or not...my friend installed it and set it up for me :)

Nortons internet security is awsome at blockign po-ups. it also does regular virus scans (included trojons) and yahoo! anti-spy is god for spyware. Nortons also has a lot of parentel controls on it that realy work well. Also recomended is Nortons systemworks which does regular chech ups on yoru total system adn rele helps.

Opera has to be set to block pop ups as well. I used opera for a long time before I switched to mozilla. Ive never had any problems with mozilla, been using it about a year now. different folks different strokes.

Yes systemworks is great. you can set it to clean youre system once a week whlie you sleep =b
