StrawberryFields Posted May 5, 2005 Report Posted May 5, 2005 Anyone care to share what they use for a pop-up blocker? I have been using msn toolbar and life was good. Today my daughter downloaded something and my msn toolbar is gone. I have reloaded iit but it won't stay and the pop ups keep coming. Any suggestions? Quote
Jenifer Posted May 5, 2005 Report Posted May 5, 2005 I use the Google toolbar. It works well for blocking popups.http://toolbar.google.com/ Quote
Snow Posted May 5, 2005 Report Posted May 5, 2005 Pop-ups aren't an issue with Macintosh. Alas the rest of the world is stuck in the Dark Ages of Windows and decadent hegemony. Quote
StrawberryFields Posted May 5, 2005 Author Report Posted May 5, 2005 Okay, I downloaded the google toolbar but it also won't stay (or go for that matter) under my address bar. I HATE POP UPS! Quote
StrawberryFields Posted May 5, 2005 Author Report Posted May 5, 2005 I figured part of it out. I have "aquired" Search Miracle Spyware! Quote

Jason Posted May 5, 2005 Report Posted May 5, 2005 Run Adaware SE (free download from Lavasoft) http://www.lavasoftusa.com/software/adaware/and Spybot S&D (also free download)http://www.safer-networking.org/en/download/You may also have a trojan on your machine (likely) so do an online scan: http://www.pandasoftware.com/products/acti...n_principal.htmhttp://housecall.trendmicro.com/housecall/.../start_corp.aspIf all else fails, save your personal flies, and reformat your hard drive (make sure you re-partition!) and reload windows and drivers. Then transfer your files back onto the hard drive and your all set! Quote
Outshined Posted May 5, 2005 Report Posted May 5, 2005 I'd go along with Jason's suggestion for Spybot and Ad-aware. Install and use both on a regular basis. Quote
StrawberryFields Posted May 5, 2005 Author Report Posted May 5, 2005 Thanks for helping me. I hope I'm almost "there". :) Quote

pushka Posted May 8, 2005 Report Posted May 8, 2005 Mozilla can be a little unpredictable on links tho, and can 'crash' now and again, I go with Jason's original idea re AdWare SE...that's what I've got...I also run Opera browser now, tho can't remember if it automatically blocks pop ups or not...my friend installed it and set it up for me :) Quote
