Types of Trolls

I didn't read what you actually said, but I'm fairly certain it was agreement. Because Trolls are utterly worthless, contemptible piles of human waste. Hahah. Oh, man.

So in a bit of thread necro-ing, I went back to this website and reread the types of trolls. In quiet amusement, I realized my favourite troll was the Sophist Troll:

The Sophist Troll. Sophist Trolls, or "philotrolls," fancy themselves Enlightened Philosophers or Learned Experts of the highest order. Often well educated, Philotrolls are capable of speaking intelligently on a number of topics, and when the spirit moves them they can be worthwhile forum participants. Unfortunately, Sophist Trolls are an extremely hostile and intolerant species.

When confronted by opinions with which they do not agree – particularly when they do not see any means of successfully arguing their contrary views – Sophists resort (repeatedly) to a variety of intellectually dishonest tactics. Most often, this is characterized by an overly snide, condescending, patronizing attitude. Philotrolls consider anyone with whom they do not agree to be "immature," and are fond of quoting that old saw that "A little knowledge is a dangerous thing."

When cornered they are quick to resort to personal attacks. A philotroll's bag of rhetorical tricks includes a variety of transparent ploys, such as willfully misinterpreting the opponent's words, committing Straw Man fallacies, accusing his or her opponents of engaging in the very tactics used by the philotroll, and so forth.

When engaging in their sophistry, philotrolls are among the most hypocritical and aggravating of trollkind.

And probably are divorced, since nobody in the world likes them. And most likely are estranged from their family, who avoid them like the plague because they're useless human beings..

Is there any such thing as a "useless human being"? ...About the only people I might be tempted to put in that category are child molesters, rapists, sadists and those who exploit the vulnerable and powerless.

I've read these "troll" websites before and quite honestly find them as repugnant as those they are attempting to castigate.

Obviously those who spend their time trawling the internet with the intent of upsetting people are annoying, but calling them "useless human beings" and coming up with labels like "divorced", "lonely", and so on, (as if being any of those things should be considered an insult anyway), makes us no better than they are.

Or maybe I just don't have enough of a sense of humour in the early hours of the morning...

Simply being a jerk on the internet does not make anyone a "useless human being"...lest we forget we've all probably been in that category at some point.
