havejoy Posted July 6, 2009 Report Posted July 6, 2009 FunkyTown, I really wish you would stop beating around the bush and let us know if you like trolls or not. Quote
Snow Posted July 8, 2009 Report Posted July 8, 2009 Hahah. Yeah, are you right, Snow. Trolls are totally useless, inept and worthless human beings.I didn't read what you actually said, but I'm fairly certain it was agreement. Because Trolls are utterly worthless, contemptible piles of human waste. Hahah. Oh, man.Trolls suck hard.Oh, double points for extra name-calling. Very convincing - and creative too. Quote
Mahonri Posted July 8, 2009 Report Posted July 8, 2009 So I'm married with children. Can't I still be a troll? Quote

FunkyTown Posted July 27, 2009 Author Report Posted July 27, 2009 So in a bit of thread necro-ing, I went back to this website and reread the types of trolls. In quiet amusement, I realized my favourite troll was the Sophist Troll:The Sophist Troll. Sophist Trolls, or "philotrolls," fancy themselves Enlightened Philosophers or Learned Experts of the highest order. Often well educated, Philotrolls are capable of speaking intelligently on a number of topics, and when the spirit moves them they can be worthwhile forum participants. Unfortunately, Sophist Trolls are an extremely hostile and intolerant species. When confronted by opinions with which they do not agree – particularly when they do not see any means of successfully arguing their contrary views – Sophists resort (repeatedly) to a variety of intellectually dishonest tactics. Most often, this is characterized by an overly snide, condescending, patronizing attitude. Philotrolls consider anyone with whom they do not agree to be "immature," and are fond of quoting that old saw that "A little knowledge is a dangerous thing."When cornered they are quick to resort to personal attacks. A philotroll's bag of rhetorical tricks includes a variety of transparent ploys, such as willfully misinterpreting the opponent's words, committing Straw Man fallacies, accusing his or her opponents of engaging in the very tactics used by the philotroll, and so forth. When engaging in their sophistry, philotrolls are among the most hypocritical and aggravating of trollkind.Hahah: Oh, Sophist Troll, how I wish that I could put a little top hat on you and have you dance a little jig. What's your favourite Troll? Quote
Jamie123 Posted July 27, 2009 Report Posted July 27, 2009 Treebeard put it rather well:Maybe you have heard of Trolls? They are mighty strong. But Trolls are only counterfeits, made by the Enemy in the Great Darkness, in mockery of Ents, as Orcs were of Elves. We are stronger than Trolls.Time for lunch here! We're having goat today! Quote
Guest missingsomething Posted July 27, 2009 Report Posted July 27, 2009 OOOOOOooooooooooooo how I wish I could give multiple laughs..... Quote

MsQwerty Posted July 27, 2009 Report Posted July 27, 2009 And probably are divorced, since nobody in the world likes them. And most likely are estranged from their family, who avoid them like the plague because they're useless human beings..Is there any such thing as a "useless human being"? ...About the only people I might be tempted to put in that category are child molesters, rapists, sadists and those who exploit the vulnerable and powerless. I've read these "troll" websites before and quite honestly find them as repugnant as those they are attempting to castigate. Obviously those who spend their time trawling the internet with the intent of upsetting people are annoying, but calling them "useless human beings" and coming up with labels like "divorced", "lonely", and so on, (as if being any of those things should be considered an insult anyway), makes us no better than they are. Or maybe I just don't have enough of a sense of humour in the early hours of the morning... Quote

Not sure I'd have put them into those categories, however I'd say they all have way too much spare time and in the odd case are clearly insane. Quote
FunkyTown Posted July 28, 2009 Author Report Posted July 28, 2009 Is there any such thing as a "useless human being"? ...Yes there are, Qwerty! Trolls. Geez, you really should pay more attention to the thread! Quote

Insanity for the odd one might be true, but that's true for society in general I think. Quote
MsQwerty Posted July 28, 2009 Report Posted July 28, 2009 Yes there are, Qwerty! Trolls. Geez, you really should pay more attention to the thread!Simply being a jerk on the internet does not make anyone a "useless human being"...lest we forget we've all probably been in that category at some point. Anyway, moving right along... Quote
