Is there any way to turn off this obnoxious new “Menu Bar” at the bottom of the screen?

With the “upgrade” to the forum software, comes this rather obnoxious “menu bar” at the bottom of the screen, that seems to serve no purpose other than to get in the way. Is there any way to turn it off?

I think the purpose of it is easy accessibility - it's more convenient to have it "right there" so to speak. A number of people have mentioned it bothers them, I don't even notice it's there personally.

Yes. Place a strip of masking tape on the bottom of your monitor exactly where the menu bar is located. Problem solved.

I'm not sure why the bar is that irritating. I hardly even notice it.

I don't particularly like that menu bar either. It isn't a huge deal but because I'm so aware of every little button, icon etc etc on my screen, it's hard to avoid new features when they suddenly pop-up. This morning I thought the bar had been removed but then I realised that I wasn't logged in..

I don't know if there is an option in the forums personal settings somewhere to switch it off, I had a quick look but couldn't find anything straight away. But for those who it is really annoying, you can either use your browsers, routers or third party addons to your browser to block this web address: http://www.lds.net/footerbar/footerbar.php (I personally placed it into a third party ad-block addon in firefox to do it).

Once that is blocked, bye bye footerbar :)

Eh, I found the footer bar to be very very annoying. But I just did as Mahone suggested and blocked it with an add-on to my browser. Add Block Plus in Firefox 3.5 seems to be working just fine.
