I have fallen and I can't get up. Some were in that 2000 page bill, there is the answer to my problem.

All you hater's of health care reform, just back off, until the government comes and helps me back up.

People are waking up to the fact that 'free health care' isn't any of those words. When they realize that the government will be sending IRS agents to collect their premiums, they will begin to figure out what a disaster they have bought into. Government is going to get a lot bigger and lines at the 'health' clinic and unempoyment office will get much longer.

You thought the Borg was bad? Wait till Pelosi gets done with you.

The right thing is not socialized healthcare, nor a new entitlement program for the lower middle class. Did you catch that last phrase? This is not about the poor. They have emergency rooms and medicaid. This is about a program that is as all-encompassing as Social Security. It enlists the working poor and lower middle classes and pits them against the rich. The result will be better healthcare for the working poor and lower middle class at the expense of the middle and upper middle classes.

The cash cow of taxes is not the few truly rich. It is the middle and upper middle classes. We will pay for this through a combination of higher premiums, lower benefits, more deductions, and straight out higher taxes. The rich will still have their loopholes and CPAs to help them manuever. It's us in the middle and upper middle who will lose.

Call this what it is--classic Class Warfare. And the Democrats hope to win a generation of power. Even if healthcare fails, they will claim to their constituents that it is the evil rich and the Republicans who stole their children's healthcare. Count on the media to bring us truck loads of stories about struggling families who are sick, or even dying because of Republicans and greedy rich people.

Back in the day, doing good for neighbors was called "charity." It's an old English word for love. This financial disaster is built on resentment, coercion, power-hunger, and perhaps even guilt (advocates of big government give less to private charity, on average).

And this 2,000+ page bill is THE right thing?

I often see a couple mindsets being applied.

Those against say:

"Patching a sinking boat with bubblegum is a horrid idea."*

Those for say:

"Watching your boat sink while you wait for the perfect materials is a horrid idea."*

Less common is:

"Our boat is sinking and these are the perfect materials to patch it."

"The boat has no leak."

We simply cannot afford to add any new debt to this country. As it is, we will be hard pressed to keep our grandchildren from being burdened with the stupid mistakes of today. Sooner or later the Chinese will say enough is enough and demand we pay up, and then this country will be in a very tough position. This health bill will add hundreds of billions to the debt every year. We can't even pay the interest on the money we are borrowing for this debacle. 'Doing The Right Thing' in this case is to shoot down this bill and kill it. It may not be the popular thing to do, but it is 'The Right Thing To Do'.

Dunno, is there virtue in vagueness? Even if missteps are made, is it not better to have one's heart in the right place?

Rest assured that missteps will be made the other way around.

So results don't matter....only intentions? What if the intention aren't as pure as you imagine? Why not get it right so that it is a benefit and not a disaster?

I believe there is a saying that goes 'the road to Hell is paved with good intentions.'

I can buy into this proposal, if it is YOU give to your charity of choice. But when you coerce Bytor into turning over substantial sums--against his will--no, then I need a little more than the politicos having their hearts in the right place. Besides, I'm not sure they do. This just may be more about constinuency-building than truly helping the working classes.
