This is a video interviewing a suicide bomber. I cannot fathom the religious fanaticism that makes a human being think like this, and it weighs heavily on me because of our soldiers as well as the Afghan people.

That is harrowing.

However, that's the mindset that fanatics (any kind- religious, political, etc.) get in. That's the reason that radical Islam needs to be recognized for the danger it poses to the West. I feel for our soldiers overseas.

A few words of caution: This is a video that claims to be an interview with a captured suicide bomber. The people involved may not be anything of the sort. That region of the world is not exactly known for it's respect for freedom of speech and vigorous free press. To the contrary - whoever currently has the gun runs the press. Many times that means state-run tv, but some terrorist organizations also have production studios.

These guys could both be actors - this could merely be propaganda for the next generation of suicide bombers. It's still chilling, but from what I've seen from verified sources, the guy willing to blow himself up isn't that articulate and principled. He's angry, he wants revenge, he wants his family taken care of, he wants the wanton sex and drug that come before the event - and the promise of heaven and virgins and whatnot after the event. One tactic used is to rape the guy and tell him the only way to gain forgiveness from Allah for being raped, is to do this violent jihad. They'll also kidnap the mentally disabled - anyone they can let out of a van who will walk towards a group of people.

Well at least now we know why our prophets have encouraged us to study scriptures and all good books, so that we can’t be fooled into a one side ideology, as is evident with this poor guy,

Living prophets just can’t live without them.

Suppose this is as good enough of a reason to get the gospel out there as any

Truly is a sad case for anyone being involved in this travesty –calling themselves Muslims

Perhaps they need group themselves as to one religion versus factions and claimed a living prophet. Would this solved the problem?

Uniting the factions would be great for them but, claiming a living prophet I would err on the side of caution. If they claimed a living prophet and his message is war and hatred that in itself could become a problem with fanatics. It’s easy for a minority to rule a majority as was evident in our own history in South Africa and in Pakistan with the Taliban ruling the majority of Pakistan. People might unit but the results are mostly short lived, there has to be a real change in heart. I always look at our own prophet’s their messages are of love and understanding one for another, the fruits of their labor is good and glorifies our Heavenly Father

Do you think the Anti-Christ will rally his people under a banner of religion, or under a banner of anti-religion (such as the French Revolution's callwords of "Reason" and "Enlightenment")?

I think religion, as that is the one thing that is practiced across the world, makes it easier to shirk responsibility and to get people to perform atrocities with a false sense of justification. With religion as a base even if the religions differs, the underlying structure of various religions can be used to create one world religion, borrow here, lend there, etc kind of effect. Ethnic group violence is usually bound by country borders, but religion can be used to unit people across borders, but that is only what I think

I definitely think that religious fervor will accompany the Anti-Christ's rise to power, but I do wonder about specifics.

For example, despite being ostensibly anti-Religion, the French Revolution thrived on a religious zeal (a belief in the high, great qualities of Reason, Truth, et al). 20th-Century fascism was largely non-religious, but from reading descriptions of the regimes, I think calling fascism a political religion isn't out of line- just replace God with the State. This also seems to be the trend in communist regimes.

So I wonder if it will be a 'religion' of anti-religion, or a conglomeration of major world religions, or something else?

Interesting. When I think of atrocities, I think of things like the killing fields of Cambodia, Stallin's purges, and the Holocaust. These are all atrocities on a massive scale with some intellectual construct - not religion - as their founding basis.

Surely, people can point to religion as justification for their evil acts. But from where I'm standing, religion is just one a dozen convenient things evil people point to.

It wouldn't be surprising if the Antichrist uses religion as a way to get people for his army, especially if there is a False Prophet from a radical religious sect to help him. Basically, this individual would be another Jim Jones or David Koresh figure.

I think religion is just another way to facilitate extreme us-them mentalities. It's very effective mind you, but the same effects can be done just as effectively without it. All that's needed is to believe that the out-group is severely less than compared to any other group...insomuch that they are considered a pest/parasite severely detrimental to society. When a group begins to be seen as notsomuch human and later on as a threat it becomes far easier to commit horrendous atrocities to them.

Religion can be utilized to unite across borders, but religion is just as fracticious as ethnic groups and country borders. It's closer to governing philosophies, like democracy, in its ability to unite. For example, there are many differing democratic base governments in the world, but because they adhere to a western philosophy of government does not mean that the french version will be the same as the American or the american to the Haitian. The same can be said about virtually any religion that exists today.

What can unite faith is when there is a pressure to ignore differences and rely more heavily on similarities.

Yes I agree with it all, atrocities are committed without a real religious base in countries, Germany with the Jews is correct it was a political party namely the Nazi’s, people don’t always agree with a political ideology therefore they will become part of the resistance. Neighboring countries will not allow the same bloodshed in their country, therefore we have refugees. We had the Rwanda genocide which was not religious based at all but an ethnic cleansing. Up in Nigeria there are regular clashes between Muslims and Christians, we can mention Kosovo, one would think that in this modern day we would be able to get over issues of religious intolerance and ethnical backgrounds that we have matured and learned from mistakes from the past.

I assume that if the antichrist has to come along he would have to get the whole world to join under a united theme, either religion or none religion, it might even be a blending of everything to suit the temporal needs of everyone

The thing that worries me is we will become like the people of old, we will have the prophecies or signs but might misinterpret the moment they happen or come about, and we might be blinded by subtle falsehoods, missing the bigger picture because we are so preoccupied by what is happening everywhere else but home

I often times think of us as like those wise and learned people in the BOM. In the last 2 centuries or so, we've grown quite a bit in knowledge, cultural awareness, historical learning, etc. Learning, in many ways, has exploded all over the place. But we've also foolishly assume that by knowing more and more about the world on its own would act as a buffer to human folly.

I assume that if the antichrist has to come along he would have to get the whole world to join under a united theme, either religion or none religion, it might even be a blending of everything to suit the temporal needs of everyone

I actually think it will be best reached in Satan's favorite tactic of chaos. Where the world will grow more strongly fractures and in disarray based on lines of ethnicity, faith, philosophies, etc...forgetting the most fundamental laws of God: to follow Him first and foremost and love our neighbors as ourselves.

The thing that worries me is we will become like the people of old, we will have the prophecies or signs but might misinterpret the moment they happen or come about, and we might be blinded by subtle falsehoods, missing the bigger picture because we are so preoccupied by what is happening everywhere else but home

Yes....I'd completely agree. I sometimes feel that we already do that to a great extent.

I understand the families of suicide bombers get paid a very large sum of money for giving up a family member to suicide bombing. Makes it a lot easier to be a fantatic when there's a huge sum of money involved.

Imagine the committed missionaries we'd have in the field if every missionary got paid $40,000 a year to be in the mission field! (plus health benefits)
