I'm going to try my first poll here. So forgive me if I screw it up somehow.

Think about the last month of your life -- how often do you do something "dumb" or that you regret?

I started asking a few people what they thought in my Ward, wondering if the question itself was dumb, but I found they were actually pretty candid about it, and appreciated hearing what other people said.

Personally, I do something I regret, or later, upon reflection, think was pretty dumb just about every day of my life. And that's only things I actually RECOGNIZE are dumb. Often, as I get older, and reflect on days past, I realize that I did things that I thought were completely normal, which in retrospect are REALLY DUMB.

Thank goodness for the Atonement!!!

I don't mind admitting when I goof up but I don't think I do it very often. I tend to be a perfectionist and spend a lot of time thinking before doing. I find that I'm more regretful when things don't turn out the way that I had planned them etc etc. I think sometimes my own expectations are too high and I'm disappointed when I don't reach them as I had envisioned. Otherwise, I wouldn't say that I'm clumsy or unorganised, or insert foot into mouth too often.

I was about to prove my tendancy to do dumb things by posting a dumb reply, but i caught myself just in time. lol. they say "you are your own worst critic." most dumb things people think they do nobody else ever notices. (unless it involves skipping spell-check, lol)

Well the hours I am awake..I'm sure I do enough for the hours I'm asleep.

I'm old enough to no longer be self critical. Laughing it off, quickly making amends works for me. Every situation is unique. I like to think being silly several times a day is a good thing, and my lovely husband agrees. (No wonder we recently celebrated another anniversary together!)

We're all sufficiently perfect as we are, on the path to perfection, to get over the things we think are dumb or to apologize to those who may think our actions are dumb. Yes, that's this old girl's story, and I'm sticking to it.

By the way, the thing I most remember was by accident, and it still haunts me. Not really a dumb thing, but as a third grader my friend and I were on the playground...monkey bars and all, with back flips, turning round and round. My foot hit her in the face and I will never forget that sorrow. I wanted to crawl under my bed and go into the witness protection program when I saw the purple color around her eye.
