pam Posted December 28, 2009 Report Posted December 28, 2009 Probably not a stat we would like to have.SALT LAKE CITY (AP) -- A report says Utah ranks second nationwide in Alzheimer's disease incidence.ksl.com - Utah ranks 2nd nationwide in Alzheimer's incidence Quote
Hemidakota Posted December 28, 2009 Report Posted December 28, 2009 I guess I need to stop drinking the water. Surprising if they cannot find a common cause to this dreadful problem. Quote
talisyn Posted December 28, 2009 Report Posted December 28, 2009 Isn't this because of the general good health of people in Utah, which leads to longer life spans? Not to mention the large families. When you have many people in a population that share similar genetic heritage then the same traits will show up more than they would in a more genetically diverse population like New York.Edit: Ok, remind me to read the link before I go off on a tangent lol. According to the report, the ranking is likely due to the fact Utahns live longer. Quote
applepansy Posted December 28, 2009 Report Posted December 28, 2009 Groups who live longer generally have a higher incident of Alzheimers Quote
boyando Posted December 28, 2009 Report Posted December 28, 2009 But why????Many years ago, I saw a report that linked the disease to aluminum. Maybe it is all those years of drinking Diet Coke from a can. Quote
Hemidakota Posted December 28, 2009 Report Posted December 28, 2009 My daughter husband’s mother is diagnosed with the latter stages of this dreaded illness. It is heart wrenching to see a person writher away before your own eyes. As I seen it in my own life with mini-strokes, shutting down portions of the brain and reducing functions one at a time. But the masses do not have this same problem or maybe not drinking from aluminum cans. Quote
Dravin Posted December 28, 2009 Report Posted December 28, 2009 Edit: Ok, remind me to read the link before I go off on a tangent lol.Sounds like Hemi's advice to not drink the water has merit, assuming one takes it far enough. :) Quote
