Josie Posted November 26, 2005 Report Posted November 26, 2005 Hmmmmm, seems to be some difference of opinion on this subject:http://users.rcn.com/tlclcms/chrtree.htmhttp://www.hollywoodjesus.com/tree.htmhttp://www.christmascarnivals.com/aboutchristmas/http://www.holidays.net/christmas/tree.htmJust to list a few other websites, if you are really interested. I enjoyed reading about the meaning of the tree itself and things put upon it. This is a time to think what Christmas really means in our life and why we celebrate it and what it means to each of us. It has many symbols and many meaning attached to those symbols to remind us of this wonderful holiday that we should all be thankful to celebrate and grateful for the reminders of its meaning. Quote
Uncomman Posted November 26, 2005 Report Posted November 26, 2005 Why does the non-Christian right care what the Christian right know or do not know? Quote
shanstress70 Posted November 27, 2005 Report Posted November 27, 2005 I could give a crap where they came from... I just think they look really cool, and they get me in a festive spirit to enjoy Christmas! Quote
prisonchaplain Posted November 27, 2005 Report Posted November 27, 2005 Anyone want to venture a guess?I didn't check your websource, so this truly is a guess: German Paganism. I'm trying to remember what the Jehovah's Witnesses I grew up claimed, but I'm banking on German Paganism. What do I win if I'm right?BTW--we got our plastic tree at Target (before all the controversy about Salvation Army bell ringers). We coat the tree with crosses, angels, doves and such. It's kinda like Christmas itself--you take a bare outline of it's original meaning, trap it all up with consumerism, and then plaster it with Christian spirituality. It sounds nasty, but somehow it works wonderfully--so much so that nonbelievers around the world love it--and really do try to be nicer for at least a few days. Quote

Snow Posted November 27, 2005 Report Posted November 27, 2005 Christmas Trees came from the diabolic experiments of Allister Crowley and Joseph Stalin who were trying to create a home for the pagan god of fertility, Bugs Q. Bunny. Quote
Outshined Posted November 28, 2005 Report Posted November 28, 2005 I do know a story about how the angel got on top of the tree, but it's probably not suitable for this forum... Quote
