I accidently found this ex-GA. I wonder why he's excommuicated? Is this because that he disagreed with presidency or because he's caught by sex abuse problem?

It looks no concoindence for me that he's excommunicated after the accident happened. More information about it?

Brother Lee was excommunicated for apostasy. The Church didn't specify any other reasons, though some of Brother Lee's statements and unsubstantiated gossip suggest that his other activities were not entirely unknown to the Brethren and may have had some impact in his excommunication. But we don't know. Maybe Brother Lee will yet repent and return to Christ's fold. We can pray for him, right along with his victims and any others negatively affected by his actions (and teachings).

Excommunication is a lot harder than just disagreeing with the prophet, even publicly. Pam's link sums it up pretty well and obviously.

FWIW, a couple of years ago, he made the news again. Apparently there was an arrest warrant issued for him for failing to register as a sex offender wherever he was living.

I don't know how it turned out.

We was jailed at the time, but on March 29th 2009, he was removed from Utah's sex offender registry and remains a free man today.

I was just wondering how the GA made the decision. Did they get the revelation from Holy Ghost or did they found the fact that brother lee was abused the girl?

When I read brother Lee's letter, I feel that he was ruined by the evil. He sounded like he's the only prophet. His story reminds me a lot of the young Skywalker. For me it really shows how powerful Satan is and I can only lean on Juses Christ but not on myself.

The story to me is such a sad one because in the earlier years I found him very inspiring.He looks so old and rough now, like a homeless vagrant.

I heard Brother Lee speak prior to his apostasy. He was trying to teach the concept that the Church would one day be headed up by a Lamanite prophet. My understanding is he was told on several occasions to not teach it, but he kept on. Other issues, such as his recent sex problems have just shown that he has been going downhill for quite a while.

I remember a (now inactive) sister coming out with something about there will be a Lamanite prophet when Christ comes again. I wonder if she got that from George P. Lee.

The sex problems occured in 1989 while he was a member of the First Quorum of the Seventy. He seduced a 12 yr old girl by telling her he was going to become prophet and that polygamy was coming back.

It is an important event to come to grips with, especially for people who believe our church leaders are infallible and must always be followed and trusted, no matter what they say or do.
