I have begun two threads to demonstrate that the Book of Mormon is both a historical and accurate document indicating cultural and historical facts correctly. I have presented data that has been shown to be true despite so called experts writing otherwise in scientific publications. I have given proof the Book of Mormon is an accurate source and critics are wrong - especially those that say there is no proof the Book of Mormon is historical accurate..

What is the reaction on this forum by the LDS critics? Have they shown that I was the one mistaken? Have they demonstrated that I have misrepresented any fact? NO!

And what has been their counter arguments. Well, in the words of Sargent Shultz of the famed TV series “Hogan’s Heroes. They have countered with their claim of “I see nothing!” This is an argument?

Does any one find their excuses for the accuracy of the Book of Mormon entertaining? These experts in logic that criticize the LDS for lack of it? I for one find their kindergarten logic shameful and ignorant. If anyone thinks they have demonstrated any depth of reason or intelligence - I truly fill sorry for the lot of you. The only reason I can see that they deny facts in the light of truth is their bigotry and prejudice.

How can we possibility move forward and discuss any possible theory of how Joseph Smith produced a historical and culturally accurate description when they cannot even identify any accurate description of anything to start with.

I really appreciate all the information. :) and I am not entertained by the feeble and uneducated attempts at discussing any error.

I like and appreciate the information too. I learned something about the vegetation of that part of the world. I didn't know that there was a white date on a "tree of life." I don't like dates personally, but it does make sense that the moisture from such a fruit could be life sustaining in that harsh climate. I think it's all very interesting. I think it's humorous though that Trav acts like such a baby when anyone can't connect the interesting information with the Book of Mormon.

And I think that demonstrates a remarkable intuitive quality in you, curvette.

Trav--the only "kindergarten logic" here is yours! Your "tree of life" nails down nothing. There are a myriad reasons why JS could have used a "tree" analogy in the BoM. That you can find that someone else had "tree" symbolism proves NADA.

A better question for you is, how do you explain the coincidence that JS's grandfather had the same "dream" about this "tree of life"? That raises more doubt about the origins of the BoM than your Arabic tree raises any "proofs".

All you prove Cal, is what Traveler stated on another thread....no matter what ispresented to you...you are too blind to see what there is to gain.

So....I see no further need of discussing it with you.

But TRAVELER...keep the cool info coming. I love it. I have shared it with everyone I know.

Peace--Yes, I guess when all you are interesting in things that bolster what you have already accepted on blind faith, it would be a pity to let science get in the way of all that. Better to just search for bits of pieces that are consistent with the idea that the BoM is some kind of literal history, and igore the mountain of evidence contra.

By the way--lest you misunderstand me completely--I have no problem with having faith in the BoM as a moral guide or source of spiritual inspiration. I would never presume to argue whether or not a person should derive moral or spiritual quidance from the BoM. I have no doubt that JS may well have thought he was doing the world a big favor to make up his story (though I strongly suspect he had other motives too) and in a literary and spiritual sense many obviously find it inspiring. But lots of things of EARTHLY origin are inspiring----However, inspiring doesn't necessarily mean historically, scientifically, or literally true. The BoM, as claimed by many, is MORE than just inspirational. Most LDS claim it is LITERAL history. That is where science can step in and help. Obviously science can't tell you whether or not the BoM is "inspirational" to you. However, science CAN tell us whether Aztecs are of Hebrew orgin!

Cal...consider how this fits your station you have chosen in your life:

2 Neph 15:

22 Wo unto the mighty to drink wine, and men of strength to mingle strong drink;

23 Who justify the wicked for reward, and take away the righteousness of the righteous from him!

and this one:

really read

and this....you probably don't have priesthood nor access to the ordinances of the temple these days...right? So this too has been fulfilled in you.

D&C 121:

9 Thy friends do stand by thee, and they shall hail thee again with warm hearts and friendly hands.

10 Thou art not yet as Job; thy friends do not contend against thee, neither charge thee with transgression, as they did Job.

11 And they who do charge thee with transgression, their hope shall be blasted, and their prospects shall amelt away as the hoar frost melteth before the burning rays of the rising sun

12 And also that God hath set his hand and seal to change the times and seasons, and to blind their minds, that they may not understand his marvelous workings; that he may prove them also and take them in their own craftiness;

13 Also because their hearts are corrupted, and the things which they are willing to bring upon others, and love to have others suffer, may come upon themselves to the very uttermost;

14 That they may be disappointed also, and their hopes may be cut off;

15 And not many years hence, that they and their posterity shall be swept from under heaven, saith God, that not one of them is left to stand by the wall.

16 Cursed are all those that shall lift up the heel against mine anointed, saith the Lord, and cry they have sinned when they have not sinned before me, saith the Lord, but have done that which was meet in mine eyes, and which I commanded them.

17 But those who cry transgression do it because they are the servants of sin, and are the children of disobedience themselves.

18 And those who swear falsely against my servants, that they might bring them into bondage and death—

19 Wo unto them; because they have offended my little ones they shall be severed from the ordinances of mine house.

Really, if you would spend just a little time reading the scriptures...at least as much time as you spend learning anything else...you would be amazed what you could learn.

D&C 131: 6

6 It is impossible for a man to be saved in ignorance.

Exactly and ignorance is darkness. You must come to the source of light or otherwise you are in ignorance/darkness.

Now consider that you are wise in your own eyes..leaning to your own understanding...judging according to no light those works of the Lord through his prophet JS, claiming them to be works of men. The Book of Mormon....for instance..... ingnorance indeed is the worst place to be...

Peace--think about it. I may "lean to my own understanding". At least I HAVE an understanding. What do you have? The opinion of a bunch of OTHER PEOPLE. Really impressive! How about getting an understanding of YOUR OWN!

That exactly why you are in darkness....blind.

Oh get off your throne!

Even if he was in darkness, what kind of human being sees another in darkness and does nothing to help, as you are doing to everyone who doesn't agree with you? Very very selfish.

Trident,

You're complaining that someone else is doing nothing to help another who isn't enlightened?

That's rich. Whaddaya think. It's rich isn't it?

Uh, yeah Trident-ball-pein hammer-toe guy,

The point is that you are at minimum the second most unhelpful and caustic and hurtful guy on this board. Where on earth do you get off complaining that someone else isn't helpful?

If either one of you wants to be "Helpful", how about getting your rears over here and helping me get caught up with my laundry!
