lizzy12 Posted July 26, 2010 Report Posted July 26, 2010 I want to buy a violin? I use to have a violin as a child, and i played. I was mediocre at it. I want to start playing again. How do i go about buying a violin? What kinds are good? I just want a good instrument nothing fancy. I won't be preforming on stage or anything. This is all for me, maybe i'll play for my family and church someday. What about buying a used violin? I'm willing to pay some money...but i'm a saver, however i won't go cheap and get a horrible one. And how do you tune a violin? I never did it before. I'll probably get some kind of lessons as well. havejoy Posted July 26, 2010 Report Posted July 26, 2010 Look in the local want ads or check Craigs list or Ebay. Buy a used one and pay someone at your local music store to tune it. Or you can check your local music store for one they might have for sale. The local music store will have a list of teachers for all kinds of instruments but if they don't have someone listed to teach the violin you could go to any high school and check out the music teachers or orchestra leader. They might teach or know of someone who does. Quote

I want to start playing again. How do i go about buying a violin? What kinds are good?I just want a good instrument nothing fancy. I won't be preforming on stage or anything. This is all for me, maybe i'll play for my family and church someday. What about buying a used violin?Find a music store that sells or rents to schools. Get a decent instrument, and play around with it for a while to see if you really want to step up and buy an expensive one. Quote
