Dr T Posted September 7, 2010 Report Posted September 7, 2010 What was the best topic of discussion you had or were at least part of in the last 7 days? Quote
slamjet Posted September 7, 2010 Report Posted September 7, 2010 dorave's laugh-to-post ratio. Oh wait, you said best, not pointless... Let me think about that. Quote
slamjet Posted September 7, 2010 Report Posted September 7, 2010 I slew a drunkWow, not sure how to interpit that Quote
Dravin Posted September 7, 2010 Report Posted September 7, 2010 Wow, not sure how to interpit that She's either Nephi or she is referring to the recent thread about drawing a skunk. Quote
jayanna Posted September 8, 2010 Report Posted September 8, 2010 It was 'I drew a skunk' check it out. I thought it would be a confession of a terrible event. or possibly an uplifting repentance instead it was art. Quote
Dr T Posted September 8, 2010 Author Report Posted September 8, 2010 Two nights ago I spoke to a rancher that does a lot of cattle and other farm produce. They do a lot of hay, alfalfa, strawberries, etc. all up and down CA and Baja Mexico. Anyway, the topic of discussion was on the work force, illegal workers and work programs from the government and how the ranchers are stuck between a rock and a hard place as far as not hiring any illegal workers, medical costs for the workers, insurance, the difficulty of training people that don’t produce good work and then also how to get all the crops in on time without the use of workers that can be available to them. It was very interesting. Quote
pam Posted September 8, 2010 Report Posted September 8, 2010 We had a discussion at work about how we see accounts that the card holder (food stamp debit cards) has reported their card canceled or stolen numerous times in the last few months. Speculation is they are selling them. We talked about how when this is happening or even suspected that they should be cut off from the food stamps. Quote
Dr T Posted September 8, 2010 Author Report Posted September 8, 2010 That is an interesting idea Pammy. I wonder what that would mean for the poor person who must rely on those for food. What if the son or his "friends" have been taking them. Hmmmm interesting. That was a great one Pammy. Thanks. Quote
pam Posted September 8, 2010 Report Posted September 8, 2010 (edited) That is an interesting idea Pammy. I wonder what that would mean for the poor person who must rely on those for food. What if the son or his "friends" have been taking them. Hmmmm interesting. That was a great one Pammy. Thanks. The thing is these cards require a pin to use. It's amazing how many people we receive phone calls from that have their pin written on their card or keep a piece of paper with it written on so they don't forget what it is. There is a responsibility to having these cards. Also you would be surpised how many calls I get from people who are not the original card holders but bought them from someone who call in to complain that as soon as they paid for the cards and go to use them, discover they have been canceled. So they want to file a complaint. I'm like what? You want us to take a complaint because YOU bought a food stamp card?I even had one person say they gave someone a bag of weed in exchange for the card and found out there was no money on it. It takes all kinds. Edited September 8, 2010 by pam Quote
Dr T Posted September 8, 2010 Author Report Posted September 8, 2010 WOW! That is crazy. I believe it and am saddened by it Pammy. Quote

Traveler Posted September 9, 2010 Report Posted September 9, 2010 What was the best topic of discussion you had or were at least part of in the last 7 days? A discussion related to scientific research into the possibility that life here on earth contains all the elements of a “simulation” being watched over or played by a proctor – g-d. It seems that there is a parallel between human intelligence and self awareness and developing artificial intelligence becoming self aware. The Traveler Quote
Dr T Posted September 9, 2010 Author Report Posted September 9, 2010 That is a very interesting topic Traveler. That sounds like something you'd like to talk and think about. I can see how that can be a parallel. Quote
Laureltree Posted September 10, 2010 Report Posted September 10, 2010 I really enjoyed Angels topic on needing advice for her son, and the BYU prop 8 article.....But they have all been great .:) Quote
john doe Posted September 11, 2010 Report Posted September 11, 2010 Thanks for that John Doe. hahaha maybe on Sunday (I doubt it) but then the Bible has to be all the other days-Monday through Saturday!
