Winnie G Posted February 25, 2004 Report Posted February 25, 2004 Would you run? Imagine this happening to you. * One Sunday morning during service, a 2,000 member congregation was surprised to see two men enter, both covered from head to toe in black and carrying submachine guns. One of the men proclaimed,"Anyone willing to take a bullet for Christ remain where you are." * Immediately, the choir fled, the deacons fled, and most of the congregation fled. Out of the 2,000 there only remained around 20. * The man who had spoken took off his hood, looked at the preacher and said "Okay Pastor, I got rid of all the hypocrites. Now you may begin your service. Have a nice day!" And the two men turned and walked out. * Too deep not to pass on... * Funny how simple it is for people to trash God ... and then wonder why the world is in the condition it is today.. * Funny how we believe what the newspapers say, but question what the Bible says. * Funny how everyone wants to go to heaven provided they do not have to believe, think, say, or do anything the Bible says. * Funny or is it scary? * Funny how someone can say "I believe in God" but still follow Satan (who, by the way, also "believes"in God). * Funny how you can send a thousand 'jokes' through e-mail and they spread like wildfire, but when you start sending messages regarding the Lord, people think twice about sharing. * Funny how the lewd, crude, vulgar and obscene pass freely through cyber space, but the public discussion of Jesus is suppressed in the school and work place. * Funny, isn't it? Funny how someone can be so fired up for Christ on Sunday, but be an invisible Christian the rest of the week. * Are you laughing? * Funny how when you go to forward this message, you will not send it to many on your address list because you're not sure what they believe, or what they will think of you for sending it to them. * Funny how I can be more worried about what other people think of me than what God thinks of me. * Are you thinking? Will you share this with people you care about? Or not? * I picked you guys~ Quote
Guest Starsky Posted February 25, 2004 Report Posted February 25, 2004 Thanks for sharing that Winnie. It does make me think .... Quote
Guest TheProudDuck Posted February 25, 2004 Report Posted February 25, 2004 Heck, yes, I'd run. Dying nobly for Christ when the only alternative would be to deny Him would be one thing. Dying stupidly on the whim of a nutcase, when an honorable escape is available, is another thing entirely. Quote

That is akin to someone saying if you love your children say here and die. It is a false dichotomy...My standing there does not protect nor save my kids. Would I fight to the death to protect them...absolutely! would I satnd and die when their not in danger to 'prove' my love? That's just foolish Quote
Guest curvette Posted February 25, 2004 Report Posted February 25, 2004 Ditto! I would feel no obligation to some wacked out religious zealot and I'd think anyone who sacrificed their own life in those circumstances is an idiot! Quote
Snow Posted February 25, 2004 Report Posted February 25, 2004 The person that wrote that is a sanctimonious moron. Example:Would you run?The writer equates moving out of the way of dangerous lunatics as equal to ‘not denying Christ.’ Wrong. It simply equates to moving out of the way of dangerous lunatics. Nothing more.Funny how everyone wants to go toheaven provided they do not have to believe, think, say, or do anything the Bible says. That assumes that the people in question believe the way to heaven is by doing what “the bible says,” but actively choose to otherwise. Gosh did it ever dawn on the writer that maybe people, or some people don’t think that the way to heaven is not by not eating pig…? Funny how someone can say"I believe in God" but still follow Satan(who, by the way, also "believes"in God).Who, besides Martha Stewart, says that?Funny how the lewd, crude, vulgar andobscene pass freely through cyber space, but the public discussion of Jesus issuppressed in the school and work place.I don’t know where the writer works or goes to school, but I don’t allow obscenity in my workplace, neither do they allow it at my children’s school. On the other hand, in my kid’s public school, there are teaching about Christ, and Mohammed and others. Additionally, we talk lots about religion at my work. I have had two such conversation today.Funny how when you go to forward thismessage, you will not send it to many onyour address list because you're not surewhat they believe, or what they willthink of you for sending it to them.I don’t know why the writer thinks everything is “funny.” Bad sense of humor I guess. But I won’t be passing this on to others – not because of the reason the writer suggests, but because I think it is moronic. Quote
Guest Starsky Posted February 25, 2004 Report Posted February 25, 2004 I guess if you analize it like that, it does sound stupid. But it wasn't bad for motivating one to start taking personal inventory.... But then maybe some didn't get motivated for personal inventory, but rather was motivated to find the fault in the motivator. Interesting either way. Quote
Tr2 Posted February 26, 2004 Report Posted February 26, 2004 Would you run?Only if you have had a gun pointed at you will you know what you'd do. People surprise you when they're faced with extreme circumstances. I've seen guys I thought were tough as nails hesistate and retreat while the guys I'd have picked to run did the best. But if you know you'd run, you're probably right! The person that wrote that is a sanctimonious moronsnow insulting somebody who doesn't think like him, how out of character! Quote
Winnie G Posted February 26, 2004 Author Report Posted February 26, 2004 I my self would most likely hit the floor, I always found comfort in that space between the pews, it comes from years raised as a Episcopalian, then Anglican. You kneel a lot and for long periods of time, then I became a mother crawling babies like it under there so there I was garbing a ankle or two as they escaped my watch full eye. Now it is grandchildren. My now walking granddaughter is fast so under the pew has a safe thing for me. I would dive for under the pew in front of me. Safe place I finger, children some how know these thing. Quote
Winnie G Posted February 26, 2004 Author Report Posted February 26, 2004 12:57:52 AM How many remember that young teenager who was asked to deny Christ at Columbine and refused and died? There were many people who called her a true Christian a hero and so on. There was much made of that young women and her faith. I have always wondered if they would have not just shot her anyways. I did love the way her school mats wrote their goodbyes on her white casket. That was impressive and good therapy as well. Smart move on the family’s part. Quote
DisRuptive1 Posted February 26, 2004 Report Posted February 26, 2004 Run, and repent next Sunday for denying Christ. If Jesus saw everybody run he'd probably say to himself, "Ooooh, I died for this?" Quote
Tr2 Posted February 26, 2004 Report Posted February 26, 2004 How many remember that young teenager who was asked to deny Christ at Columbine and refused and died?I remember reading about that. I'd like to know what was going through her head at that moment. I do wonder if she was aware of what he was going to do to her if she said the wrong thing, or if she knew full well that's he'd shoot her. Either way she did stick to her guns in the face of a terrible situation. Quote
Winnie G Posted February 26, 2004 Author Report Posted February 26, 2004 She was a very impressive young woman. I think those of us that heard and read or even watch TV news that day and the Days to come were ever the same, it was a thought we all ponder for a wile. Thank you YR2 for your remarks. :) Quote

I get so excited when Trident does his Army Ranger routine. All I know is that last time Trident and I were on a special ops to invade Nova Scotia and overthrow the government and install a puppet regime, a teenage girl snuck up behind Trident, pushed her finger into his back and shouted, "stick em up cowboy,"... well, let's just say that it's was good that we had recently bought shares in Depends ®.
