Wingnut Posted October 29, 2010 Report Posted October 29, 2010 Geez Pam. You made me cry on Facebook, and you're making me cry here, too. This video is too amazing to not watch over again. Quote

O2BNSD Posted January 21, 2011 Report Posted January 21, 2011 (edited) This is just too sweet. Watch how a baby reacts to cochlear implant being turned on. Oh my gosh, Pam, this is so great that you posted this!! My grandson (now 6yrs old) totally lost all of his hearing when he was about 16mths old. There was no particular factor that caused this, he was never sick, had never been on an antibiotic, didn't have any ear trauma, nothing...just a total loss of hearing. He started out with hearing aids, but they had to be upgraded to stronger ones until it was found that all of his hearing was totally gone. Luckily, his cochlea was intact & he became a candidate for bi-lateral cochlear implants when he was 2 1/2yrs old. I (nor my daughter) will never forget the day when the implants were turned on for the first time & he immediately responded to sound! Everyone had tears streaming down their faces! My daughter was pregnant with my grandaughter at the time & there had been some concern if there would be any hearing problems for her. Happily, she hasn't had any problems & she's now 2 yrs old. My grandson is doing remarkable with his implants, he is verbalizing beautifully & has made incredible progress with the implants. Sometimes when little sister screams too shrilly, he will disconnect the magnetic transmitter so that he doesn't have to hear her! Edited January 21, 2011 by O2BNSD Quote
