Backroads Posted February 14, 2011 Report Posted February 14, 2011 When I receive my endowments in a few weeks, my younger brothers and sisters were thinking about doing baptisms for the dead at the same time. None of us can think of a reason against it, but I do have to wonder if temple workers frown upon a family coming in and some running off to do this while other run off to do that. Quote

But I don't see any sort of problem with that in any of the areas with a larger LDS population. Were they wanting to do it so that those who go thru the endowment ceremony also do a baptism session after? The only thing they would probably object to though, is all the running. :)M. Quote
nmdesertrose Posted February 14, 2011 Report Posted February 14, 2011 As a temple worker I can tell you that we love any time families can come together to the Temple to do any sort of work. Even if they are spread out doing different things. It always brings a wonderful spirit when they do. :) Quote
Iggy Posted February 14, 2011 Report Posted February 14, 2011 Be sure they get the special temple recommends from their Bishop- Quote
Wingnut Posted February 14, 2011 Report Posted February 14, 2011 You should contact the baptistry now, just to make sure that your siblings won't be overlapping with an already scheduled youth or YSA baptisms session. Otherwise, there shouldn't be a problem. Quote
Guest mormonmusic Posted February 14, 2011 Posted February 14, 2011 (edited) · Hidden Hidden I don't see a problem unless it's going to complicate the day with delays or other snafus. Really, your wedding is the focus, in my view. Edited February 14, 2011 by mormonmusic
Backroads Posted February 14, 2011 Author Report Posted February 14, 2011 Shall contact the temple to see if siblings aren't running into another scheduled group. I think it's because when our grandmother went through we were bored out of our minds waiting. We went shopping, went to Wendy's, walked around, and still wound up waiting for awhile. They want to be "at" the temple while I'm receiving my endowments (which will be two days before the wedding) without going crazy. Quote
captmoroniRM Posted February 14, 2011 Report Posted February 14, 2011 Happens all the time. I know on youth temple trips to the DC temple, some of the adults would do an endowment session while others helped with the baptisms. Quote
eternalpromise516 Posted February 16, 2011 Report Posted February 16, 2011 Backroads, Even if there is another baptistry session going on at the same time, it may be possible to contact that group and see if they wouldn't mind your siblings joining in. When I was in NYC last year with my college band on spring break tour, I called Manhattan to explain what was going on, etc. and they were more than happy to add me to the session and were actually surprised that I would come to the temple on my spring break. The group already scheduled were very accomodating and welcoming. It can never hurt to ask! I'm sure they will try everything in their power to make it work! :) What temple, btw? Quote
