Winnie G Posted May 8, 2006 Report Posted May 8, 2006 Ok I must confess I have my eye on my neighbours Garden Gnome. Yes! I covet my neighbours Gnomes! I am not kidding! Yes the hubby knows but has avoided talking to me about it. He really thinks this is a passing thing, But NOOO. It’s actually two Gnomes in one. Sitting harmlessly in my neighbours flowerbed. I mean no harm to the Gnomes as a matter of fact I plane on taking them on holiday with us. I plane on Gnome napping these 20 inch high Gnomes and taking them across Canada to Newfoundland visiting family and photographing their trip. I will return the Gnomes back to their owners with a holiday scrapbook. Yes, I am not kidding. I have a letter already to leave in there door upon Gnome napping. (See bottom of this post) I cannot seem to get these Gnomes out of my mind.!!!!!!!!!!!! There they are two doors down in a flowerbed. Just waiting to be rescued from their humdrum flower bed lives. There are web sites you know, that are the Garden Gnome Liberation information and It calls all of us to action! They advocate an end to oppressive gardening and freedom for garden gnomes everywhere. Thousands of Gnomes are enslaved in Gardens across North America. Did you know that? For too long we have let our neighbours usurp the rights of these gentle woodland creatures. So I will free these Gnomes even if it is only for a few weeks so that they can enjoy a summer Holiday away from flower pollen fertilizer. Do you think we could loss our temple recommends for this? Winnieg ___________________________________________________ Gnome Slave Owner, We deplore your treatment of gentle woodland creatures, and your total disregard for the basic principles of liberty. Your moral bankruptcy is evidenced by your acts of wanton recklessness and the deliberate use of coercive force and terror tactics against gentle and innocent creatures. It has come to our attention that a Gnome is being held captive in your garden. We do not, as a rule, negotiate with terrorists; however, we request that he be released immediately. Already your actions have prompted copycat offences, which we have witnessed. We understand that you probably were not responsible for the innocent Gnome's original capture but rather purchased him from a Gnome slave trafficker like a garden center or craft show. Please understand that we are not holding you responsible for the state of Gnome slavery in North America. We are, however, asking you to put an end to your involvement. Do the responsible thing; free your Gnome today. Although North American law currently permits you to keep a Gnome in slavery, we believe it to be morally reprehensible. We hope that upon honest reflection, you will agree. Stop Oppressive Gardening. Free the Gnomes. Thank you Quote

Christos Posted May 8, 2006 Report Posted May 8, 2006 Very good! In my garden I really mistreat my gnomes. Some people like them to be colourfully painted....I like mine to be covered in moss, lichen and generally weathered. :) Quote
Winnie G Posted May 8, 2006 Author Report Posted May 8, 2006 I wrote my bishop last night and told him. he eamiled me this morning. (Isn’t there some sort of gnome advocacy group through whom you could work? Headquarters would probably be in Gnome, Alaska.) Quote
Winnie G Posted May 8, 2006 Author Report Posted May 8, 2006 As I drove passed the house this morning I saw it she has moved it closer! I was thinking of dropping off a copy of my letter to the base newspaper under the door just as we leave on holiday. Their always looking for articles that are funny uplifting and at times down right wacky. I know the two women who run the base paper; they will have a field day with the Gnome napping. “Is your Gnome missing Or just on Holiday?” I can see them doing a were in the world is the Gnome? My biggest worry is not being caught but someone will take this Gnome before I do. I think their Gnome being kidnapped will take away the stigma of moving in to the house on base were a gay partners lived. A little Gnome napping will be a refreshing. Quote
Ray Posted May 8, 2006 Report Posted May 8, 2006 How bout just saying the gnomes were translated, and that they'll be coming back with our Lord? That way you won't be admitting to "stealing" if they find them in your yard. :) Quote
begood2 Posted May 8, 2006 Report Posted May 8, 2006 Winnie, I can see it now...: News flash ...Winnie G. of LDS Talk was just arrested this morning for Gnome napping. The suspect was caught red handed at approximately 3:47 AM wearing pj's and a robe as she was seen removing her neighbors Gnome from the front yard by base security. It seems that base security had been tipped off by an anonymous source that had over heard of Winnie's plans to Gnome napping, so as a precaution base security had set up a sting operation with a decoy Gnome and even ask the neighbor to move it a little closer to Winnie's house as further enticement. Officer Michael stated that: "My partner and I were about to give up when 3:30 AM rolled around and then we spotted an outside light come on at Winnie's house. A few minutes later we hit pay dirt as Winnie was spotted removing her neighbors Gnome." Neighbors on the scene said that the sheriff's office was called and that Winnie was handcuffed and taken away to jail. One neighbor stated that: "If Winnie had only asked, I'm sure her neighbor would have happily allowed her to borrow her Gnome, but under the circumstances...she now hopes that Winnie is prosecuted to the full extent of the law." The law states that a person found guilty of Gnome napping could be punished by one to ten years in prison. Quote
Dr T Posted May 8, 2006 Report Posted May 8, 2006 Hello Winnie, I find it hilarious! Someone took an alligator candle that I had and did the same thing. I got pictures and letter from my alligator in Italy, Disneyland, on a prom date, at restaurants, and a number of other places. Since I wasn’t able to go, I'm glad someone (thing) did. Dr. T Quote
Christos Posted May 9, 2006 Report Posted May 9, 2006 What a great idea to keep in touch with friends! I've never thought of this before. I have a friend who will be moving back to Texas soon, I live in England. If I take something off her (I'll ask rather than steal) it would be cool to send back pictures of where its been. Anyway, its late now. Goodnight all. Quote
